I keep wanting to buy a wii u, but I also keep wanting them to be like half the price. I guess it's never gonna happen!

Somehow I see more Loch Ness Monsters than Wii Us, good luck finding a new one in a store.
I'm fairly clue free with the hacking community for Wii Us. Is it like the mods for original Wii with homebrew channels n' stuff?
Does it have backups of games on the 1 TB HDD? If so, this is a kickass deal!!

Yeah new ones are hard to find, but nintendo sells refurbed ones for 200 https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?productId=prod150200

Community is quite robust, but I don't have backups on there...adding them however isn't a monumental task.
Yes, let's please not behave as if warez increase the value of a system.

I heard that Nintendo pulled most stock from retailers and is now selling it themselves as refurbished, so most of them are in decent shape.

That makes sense, they probably didn't have a magical sell through without any huge holiday releases. I assumed that the stores were empty because production stopped and all systems sold, but if they were selling inventory like that I imagine Wii U would still be on the market. Buying back the stock in order to be assured Switch shelf space is a much more likely scenario.
Why are there no new 3DS though? Hmmmm...

Thats how I got mine. I honestly dont even think it was "used". Not a single scratch on it
I got mine new at Walmart just before Christmas by pure luck. They were stocking their shelves with stuff they just received. There was a half opened box on one of the carts and it was in that. I never see them new anymore so i jumped on it. It was a mariokart 8 edition and the only system they had.
Not that this will apply to most people but there are still tons of new Wii U consoles in bundle boxes available in PAL land. Even the OMG "LIMITED EDITION " Zelda one that's been limited edition for the last 4 years. there are pack ins available for mario kart, xenoblade and splatoon too.
Also they are still priced at original retail.
Covering shipping if anyone wants to bite...
Final bump removed drive lowered price...
Topic is re-alive since it's back up for offer.

I keep hoping for $150 to get a backup so I have Wii U ready for years to come. Would jump on a white one at $200 though.
Final bump tweaked items and bottomed out the price.
