Found this gem on youtube, pretty interesting that they showed off Ys Book I & II considering the anime scene at the time. NEC stuff is shown at 17:24 if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, I remember that program; The Computer Chronicles. watching it as a kid dreaming about getting new hardware and software for my Amiga Computer
There is another episode with TG-16 coverage, too!
I think I posted about Computer Chronicles.... over a decade ago...but I'm pretty sure someone may have done it before me.
:)

Haha ... it was so wonderfully grim to watch this!
So many people in suits talking about games!
I found Computer Chronicles from The Johnny Turbo Story: http://sardoose.rustedlogic.net/reviews/jturbo/
LMAO at the difference between the NEC and the TTi episode, the decline of the Turbografx is perfectly shown by the contrast between an OK presentation by a confident NEC representative of the expensive TG-CD unit + Y's
VS
a nervous and defeated looking Johnny Tubbs presenting the Duo, while the sony rep intimidates him and the Computer Chronicles guy criticizes his trump card (Lords of Thunder).

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, I'll have to watch it all when I get home.
But. just why wouldn't they pick a more confident rep. He should have made his presentation so much more exciting. It's Lords of Thunder! He was out down by possibly the most bland piece of software i've ever seen. And why was the host emphasizing functional stuff programs so much, wasn't this about video games?? And not Encyclopedias and other non relevant stuff. That's like comparing my Turboduo to the almond milk I had this morning.
But hey, that dev stuff he had was pretty cool. Probably locked away at NEC somewhere.
The host is a douche, often interrupting the guests, talking over them, and being dismissive overall.
Poor Johnny Turbo is outclassed by the Sony shit. Too bad they didn't mention price; I bet the PC bundle cost 2x as much as the Duo, and the portable thing was at least 4x as much.

He should have brought along the Duo battery pack and monitor to show off its portability.
Guru Larry did a good video about Johnny Turbo in his failed mascots series.
On Bonk...
"he's got lots of personality... see what happen when he gets hit... his eyes get big"
haha
thx for sharing!
I've watched a few episodes over the years.
Incidentally, I seem to recall a prominent presenter on there that passed away prematurely. I think it was this show. I could be mistaken.
Something about him getting killed in a bar, or something along those lines.

Holy crap, I watched the show all the time and I never realized that Gary Kildall was actually an important person.
/ignorance
Yeah, I didn't know he was such an influential person when it come to the history of computers either. Thanks for sharing
