Title: Pc engine.pcb repro?
Post by: NichlasEk on 05/04/2017, 07:05 AM
So i was just thinking. I have three pc engines with severe trace damage.
2 will never work again and the third will but with lots of work and ugly wires.
The fully working ones i have, has dry soldermask that almost peels of with the scraping of a nail.

Has anyone gone about designing a repro pcb for the little engine?
That way you could transplante key components and adz more modern one (rgb amp)

The PCB seems small enough.

Anyone up for the challange?
I probobly could, but it would take 10 years :)

That sounds like an expensive undertaking. Assuming someone wanted to take the time to do it. There are still a lot of PCE for sale out there.

On the other hand, we got some cool stuff going on in the NES hardware world.

Not a new design... But could be built upon when it's done.

Cool! I guess it would be expensive to make.
Now to figure out how to make gerber files from this.
And maybe replace the Rf with an RGB-amp and mini DIN

If I or someone else where succesfull, i bet it would be cheaper to do a group buy of PCBs.

There are several quality clones/inproved boards of the NES already.
This should defenetly be possible i think. If interest is high enough.
