Yeah the folks at screwattack.com made that i can't say, there choices's are great either.
No PCE shmups etc and nothing from cave either on that list.
They have all ready anger these folks at this forum all ready.
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=16331
Still i realy don't care what sa list it's there opinion not mine.
It is inevitable that Screwattack will make Top 10 lists, it is inevitable that they will suck, it is inevitable that somebody will post them here and bitch about them.
Who am I to mess with this grand scheme?

yeah. in fact me either, but it was a short great fun to laugh at it
especially super r-type, probably the weakest part of the whole serie.

true true
Talk about a snerdy list!
Quote from: Tatsujinespecially super r-type, probably the weakest part of the whole serie.
Agreed! They couldn't even use R-Type III!

yeah, paired with some alltime classics everybody on the earth and beyond knows and probably won't miss in there.

Agreed beside super r-type realy suffers from slow down.
I would take the original over it any day of the week.
Still as for them listing U.N Squadron lol at that being number one.
It's a good shmup but i wouldn't rate it that high.
However thumbs up for them listing GALAGA!
haha, that video is funny and entertaining. My #1 pick is LoT
I love all SHMUPs. Even the bad ones. The end.
Who doesn't  Seeing that asteroids brought back some good memories :)
Wow.
I've never even heard of UN Squadron until now. Yeah, I'm serious. I even own an SNES. Is this some mega-cool game or something? It looked a whole lot lamer than Gate of Thunder, that's for sure.

For argument's sake, I love Super R-Type. More than R-Type III. But not more than the original. The slowdown in Super R-Type is definitely a detriment to it's greatness.
Their list is severely flawed. As someone pointed out earlier, they didn't include anything exclusive to the Turbo/PCE. And the Turbo was the PLATFORM for shooters during the 16-bit-graphic era. For games like 1943, Gradius, R-Type, and Xevious they even used the NES versions as example video shots. I doubt these guys have ever played a TurboGrafx or PCE in their life. How can you make a top 10 2-D shooter list without playing the Turbo? It's a fucking oxymoron.
I agree with two of their choices, but that's all.

Same here, I can't even see why its number one :-k

it's incomparable with a GoT, but a really nice and well drawed shmups which is even better than its arcade pendant. the nice thing is its strategy mix, which the arcade didn't had. you can choose from a battlefield which "area 88"-attacking menace you will strike down next. you can earn money and buy better aircrafts with bigger abbilities and stronger/bigger weaponary!
These two fags are a real pain in the ass, who do they think they're talking to, some 4 year olds? Not to mention that their list sucks badly!!
I shot my drink out my nose when I saw Raptor on the list.
Raptor is a good game, but in the top ten? C'mon.
Why are these guys trying to sound like radio DJs? Nobody thinks radio DJs are cool.
maybe they think
Geez, this shit is horrible...
What's the one kids show on TV with the puppet lemur or whatever? This shit reminds me of whatever the hell that show is. The difference, I suppose, is that the lemur show is infantile on purpose.
And Joe is right. I expect to be told to "come on down" to the local Chevy dealership for free hot dogs and balloons if I test drive a Cobalt.
I do agree with some of their choices though; Ikaruga, R-Type, and Galaga. I ceased enjoying R-Type a decade ago (at least) but it is an important game historically speaking. Galaga is fucking great is the most playable game that is that old except maybe Ms. Pac Man. Ikaruga is just fucking amazing. I love it.
Xevious is pretty much unplayble for me. Its incredibly boring. Area 88 is nice, and truly an overlooked gem, but probably not even a top 50, certainly not #1.
I'd have stuff on there like GoT, ESP Ra.De., Radiant Silvergun, Blazing Star...newer stuff, mostly, and my entire list would probably be arcade releases except maybe GoT.
If I was going to put weird off the wall shit on there that nobody else would vote for: Game Tengoku, Akenvader, Dandan Feveron, and Macross: DYRL (Saturn).
As Top 10 lists on corporate websites go, 3 out of 10 isn't bad, but this thing is still embarrassing.
Yeah i was kinda dissapointed with their choices aswell, dunno why its always like 90% of thier stuff is nintendo and maybe they'll throw in a sega game or a pc one just to show their not biosed, good example being their top 10 ninjas video, tut tut.
If you go on the proper screwattack website they have like one TG-16 review and its for one of the Bonk games

but please notice that the not talking about the historically and legendary R-Type we all love so much, but about the crappy and foozled SNES port of R-Type II aka Super R-Type. still wonder, where in gods name the "super" is got to?

The sad thing is that I know you're talking about Bear In The Big Blue House. The sadder thing is I know that lemur's name is Treelo.
Fuck ScrewAttack. They've been getting on my nerves alot lately. And yeah, that Top 10 Shoot Em Up list is horrible.
