This is basically true, but keep in mind that you get extra points if you let the snake like buddy form a circle around you and shoot him from the inside!

The best way is to kick his ass when he enters the screen but stop as soon as he's turning red. Kill anything which might get in your way, go to the middle of the screen and wait until he has circled you
completely. You can now kill him with one or two shots and you don't waste precious time. If you do it correctly you get an extra 50k points, if you've been impatient you'll get only half of them.
With elnino's fine tip, I've pushed my scores up, up, up the ziggurat, lickety-split.

Nicely done! Here's another tip, maybe you know about this but anyway. There are some plant like enemies which show up in a pair on a water canal twice in the game, on from the left and one from the right side. They are completely harmless and don't throw anything towards you. However, if you stay in the horizontal middle of the screen when you start shooting at them you will likely destroy both of them at the same time which will get you 50k instead of the usual 10k.

Do the Z thingys just show up if a bulllet passes over them or do they show up if your ship passes over the area? I've only seen 2 of them ;\
You have to shoot them a few times before they'll show up, and you have to keep shooting them to get the bonus points. You'll hear a kind of ringing noise when you're shooting the right spot, but sometimes it gets drowned out by the other stuff going on.
Gave two-minute mode a try today. 468500.
This is my best 2 minutes mode score : 565 300
Normal mode : 2 260 900
Normal game score is pitiful cause I continued

I do would like to mention another enemy of interest: those giant metal orbs that split into smaller ones. If you destroy all the smaller orbs you get bonus points as well. They get away from you fast!
BTW who likes to dance with the mid boss (matching it move for move)? That is some fun shit!

That is a lot of fun! I love the bosses in Soldier Blade, they have such a fun feel to them. Knocking off individual parts is a blast.

I simply don't see the need for proof, as only a pathetic loser would lie about a high score in a sad attempt to garner adulation on a forum. Such a desperate fool could easily edit in whatever score they wanted anyway, so what's the point?

Well, that just it Necro. Most of us wouldn't bother to lie about a score, but I still think it's a good rule to have. There are pathetic losers/trolls that come around these parts from time to time. In the end, it takes less than 5 minutes to take the picture, transfer the file to the computer, and post it. I personally enjoy seeing pics of everybody's scores.
I guess if you're posting a score of 9000 on NAI then it's not really necessary to post a picture. But if you're posting a score of 1,987,320 then a picture would be nice. It's not a matter of trust with regulars, but just so some random dude couldn't come in and say I got such and such a score.

I respectfully disagree, as I don't really care if someone dishonestly gains the #1 spot. Screen shots are nice and all, but shouldn't be mandatory, though if they're going to be added to the rules as a requirement, so be it. I'll just keep my handful of scores to myself.....my precioussssss. :)

I can tell that you guys must be VERY good to break 500k on the 2 minute mode. I played for nearly an hour and a half straight on just the 2 minute challenge. The best score I got was 483500!

Well, I decided to unbox the TG-16 and played Soldier Blade for 2 minutes this morning. :) Not a bad first run, imo, for not having played it in probably 4 or 5 years. I can't wait until I have a little more time. Ys Book 1 & 2 is calling me... Must resist and continue working!

where is the extra 60,000 points I'm missing? I get all the Z's, the 50k from the snake, 50k from the flower pot things you gotta shoot at the same time, I kill the circle guy with the babies that run off for 4k or so, kill everything on the screen as fast as possible, milk the boss till the last minute.

Guys, Sikraiken and I had a compo on the 5min version of this game years ago in #shmups. Sik and NFG made this little scoring chart. This might help somebody. I know it helped me. IIRC, Sik and I both got over 1.8M using these tricks.

Jumping in on this action as Soldier Blade is the main game i've been playing on Turbo and only one i really care about the score for right now! I see some people here have higher scores than this already but maybe that'll help fuel my Soldier Blade playin! :twisted:
