"Dynastic Hero is a really good game. And as far as I can tell, this marks its first U.S. release -- another VC exclusive!"

The new skool gaming media are experts when it comes to the Turbo Grafx as usual.

Every article I've seen for Dynastic Hero on the VC keeps saying how it's not worth it because it's a slight update from Monster World, which is already on VC. Even though the differences are minimal, they never seem to acknowledge the fact that Dynastic Hero has a completely (?) new soundtrack.

Not to mention a new story, & opening & closing cinema's.

And might I add, that I LOVE the opening song!  Yeah, maybe it is cheesy in a way, but, it's cool!  It's very well done IMO.

Are you talking about the American version? I love that song too. People seem to make fuss saying how it's way worse than the Japanese version, but I kinda think the opposite.

Yeah its kinda beyond me why they would give Dynastic Hero A thumbs down. But they gave Super Air Zonk A thumbs up which  is A horrible game. And didn't bitch about it being released twice.

Yeah, the US version, I haven't heard the Japanese version, I'll have to check it out.  And I do like Super Air Zonk, I think it's ok, there's things I like about it, but, it was reaching for the level structure of LoT, & failed for the most part.  What was released twice??

I can't believe how much memory this game uses....
Well over 200 blocks. Nintendo really needs to address this lack of a hard drive.

Completely new, and completely inferior.

Meh, different strokes for different folks.  Dynastic Hero has one of my favorite all time soundtracks in a Turbo game.

Most of these reviewers need to have there head examine.Either it's "ign or 1up" all they,do is spout crap on how awful every TG16 game is that's emulated for the vc.

I know the console has it's share of crappy titles but man, they even complain about the good ones on those sites.

Sure,DH might be consider a slight upgrade compare to the genesis version.

Realy though i think it has enough to standby on it's own for the TG16.

You guys should 'see the reponse towards it on gametrailers and on youtube as well.

Still i bet it's coming from...the younger generation of gamers who never experince it to begin with.

That or loyal fans of the genesis version thinking nothing compares to it.

They say that it's a good game but essentially the same as the Genny version (and at the same price), so they recommend avoiding the Turbo version and its mandatory filtering.  Somewhat solid reasoning, if you don't value the livelier colors and red book soundtrack.  What do those ijits know?  They believe that Dynastic Hero never had a U.S. release.

For my response on this, let me just quote myself from the other thread:

QuoteMy real point though is that these VC reviewers would probably rate Turbo games on average 2 points higher if the exact same games were SNES or Genesis titles. See, the VC reviewers probably don't know much about the Turbo, like most of the general public, and rely heavily on what they read about it to create an idea in their head of what it must have been like "back in the day" since they don't have their own memories to base off of. Since most of the history you can find and read online about the TG-16 contains words like "loser" and "failure" and "dead on arrival" it's no wonder they can't help but put a negative spin on all things Turbo in their heads. And this feeling comes across in the scores they give the games. Whether it's actually indicative of the quality of the game in question is another story altogether.

To me, the games are more or less identical and the differences are mostly subjective.  What is clearly superior on the Duo version is the dialog and the extra save slots, though Joe might argue the last one, since real men play 'til the end.
