Hmm, 1992 was a pretty good year. I go with Air Zonk.

Now wait, I thought you said PCE didn't list US CDs...but wasn't Exile a CD? I'm asking because this is the year Gate of Thunder was released, and possibly Cosmic Fantasy 2, which are far more popular than anything else on this list so the poll is pretty useless, IMO. I don't have a very good memory of what was released each year, but I'd surely vote for GoT whatever year that came out.

IMO opinion Neutopia II, New Adventure Island and Soldier Blade are the heavy hitters here- that said-

Soldier Blade.

Definately Soldier Blade.

It came down to NAI and Soldier Blade for me.  I chose NAI.

Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu - NO CONTEST.

And btw, shouldn't the 1992 Turbo game thread just link to the 1991 PCE game thread? :P

It was down to either Order of the Griffon or Shockman for me.

I voted OotG, cause it just doesn't get the love it deserves from you sons o bitches!

I made this because Jackie Chan is getting no love, and because I was inspired by an earlier shoutbox convo:

VOTE FOR JACKIE CHAN! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4R8TKwizl1k)

I voted for Air Zonk because with this list being incomplete that was the only contender.

Air Zonk all the way.Did New Adventure Island come out in 1992?I thought It came out earlier than that. And yeah there should also be cd games on that list.

Dang its getting close here!
I call foul though.  How's Air Zonk not make the top ten hueys list and yet is a hair away from beating out Soldier Blade (which made #5) on the 92 list?  :-k
Hogwash I tells ya.  Hogwash!  :P

Could this get any simplier :P? I had voted for Air Zonk, since it really is a cool shooter and has an amazing soundtrack to go with it. I even consider it as the definite title for the TurboGrafx-16. It's sure to be one of the first games I get to play for the system once I get the chance.

Exile and Soldier Blade are the other good choices from this list. As Sign of Zeta had mentioned briefly, however, some major titles, such as Gate of Thunder, Cosmic Fantasy 2, and even Prince of Persia, are missing from the selection.

I vote for Jackie Chan as this was the first game I got for my TG-16. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game! The music is so groovy and it's just a fun, well put together game. Come on people, Air Zonk doesn't stand a chance against Mr. Chan  :)

I voted Exile. Jackie Chan, Air Zonk, Neutopia II, Time Cruise...all very, very close contenders. This was a great year for us. :D

I'm the one guy who voted for Shockman.

I spent TONS of time playing Airzonk (got em both the same day when I was little) but Shockman had me glued. Game was very difficult, lots of neat levels, I got into the plot, and it just wouldn't end. It was the best mega man-ish game I had played in forever, and it kinda stuck with me heh

Shockman is a fantastic game, especially when taken as part of the series it's in (part 2 is the only version we got over here). I think part 3 might be slightly better, though.

Jeesh Nat I just got part III- I hope it's more than just "slightly better".

I voted for Order of the Griffon, the first and last RPG released on Turbochip.

Where the heck is Dead Moon?  It probably wouldn't have picked up many votes, but it would have had some impact on the close race between Air Zonk and Soldier Blade.

Where's Ballistix?
Also, Night Creatures is '91.

It's very different, that's for sure. You don't dig part 2?

I think they are both fantastic games, but again, very different.

Still haven't tried my part III- been playing Ys III and testing out this box of Sega stuff that I got for free all day-
But yeah- I pretty much can't stand Shockman-  looks great, great music- but I feel it plays pretty awful.  I'm hoping Part III is leagues better.

Ghost Manor is a great game, but not the best of '92. It might be one of the best though, it's hard to say.

Perhaps it is the best game on the Turbo?

I wouldn't go that far.

Ghost Manor is great game if you turn the music and sound effects off.
Title: Re: 1992 Turbo game of the year

The sound effects are fine, and the music is what I would call an "acquired taste." I like it, it suits the game well.

I disagree, the music and sound are abysmal in Ghost Manor.  The graphics and gameplay is pretty good though for a turbochip so I guess it balances the game out.

Shockman is a weird game.   I have been kind of on the fence about it but nat encouraged me to hang on to it.. I guess it makes sense.. I don't plan on getting an NES any time soon so I'll just play Shockman whenever that style mood strikes.  Actually the aztec boss with the crazy legs almost makes the game worth it alone.   Can anyone out there play this one without using the famous pause cheat to refill your life?  If so , you are a PRO !

Well I can, but I have to use Sonya and her BIT, because it makes it rain life-giving stars against Jeeta during his last appearance.

I didn't even know there was a cheat. yes, I beat the game, no life code, playing Shockman, not Sonya back in like 1996 or so. Took me about 3 weeks. I love that game

Although its not my favorite since I haven't played it very much, I voted for New Adventure Islland since its probably technically the best game.
