Hello everyone,

   I recently acquired a PC-Engine, because I figured it would have been cheaper just to buy a PC-engine instead of a Kisado converter which is 89.00+ dollars. So I recieved my PC-Engine in the mail today, and to my surprise, it is missing the Cable RF hookup. I'm trying to hook the PC-Engine up with a Nintendo RF adapter, but to no avail.

How do I use this PC-Engine on my American TV?

I have a standard, White PC Engine.

Not sure if can use another console's RF unit.  Am I correct and the white PC Engine doesn't have an AV port?

Yes, you're right, the White PC-Engine doesn't have an AV port; this is the reason why they upgraded the basic design of the PC Engine in the two Core Graphics units. So I need a Japanese RF unit?

Honestly, I'm just not sure on the RF unit.  Maybe you can the RF unit for the Turbo Grafx 16?  Check the ebay link and ask the seller.

You would of been better off had you picked up the Coregrafx as those units have an AV out.  If you can't find an RF unit to work, you're only other option would be to purchase the CD interface unit to obtain AV outs.  I have a feeling you don't want to do that though.

That or a PC Engine AV booster

I actually used the RF unit from the Turbo Grafx, but it seems to do nothing at all. I wonder where I could find an AV Booster for the PC-Engine...

Is the PC Engine AV booster a rare item?  It looks cool.  Can you also save games with it?

It plays on a couple channels in either the 70's or 90's.

I never remember which, because the Famicom plays in the alternate of those two ranges.

I believe that 76 or 96 was one of the channels in particular.

Any RF switch, NES or otherwise is fine.

The "I-II" setting on the white PC Engine core correspond to UHF channels 95 and 96.  You can use a standard Nintendo gray RF box and it should work just fine.  (as long as your TV isnt like 20 years old)  I had to use my PC Engine this way for awhile until I got a CD ROM2 system back in 1990.
