Title: Bonk: Land of Matrix
Post by: Sparky on 04/05/2008, 07:35 AM
hey guys? check out my NEW bonks game?i call it Bonk: Land of the Matrix?
shot it off my turboexpress? its a little rough

http://youtu.be/i0jYz656-ys

so what happened? i really dont know, this was working proper at one time but sent it to a buddy in the mail and when he received it he had this little surprise, he sent it back to me and the thing is when i tried it on my duo, express and the regular tg16 its the same land of pixels every time.  Its funny that bonk looks perfectly fine that is until he eats his meat (that didn't sound right) and he goes a little green!!!? so there you have it a new special highly collectable version on Bonks :P

Question: Has anyone else ever had troubles with a hu-card, this was my first and only problem.

wow, thats really strange and cool at the same time! haha. I have never experienced this problem. I have only gotten that with poor roms and the neo flash.

While this has rarely happened to me with HuCards, it is commonplace with most cartridge games (NES, SMS being the worst)... Usually, however, it is temporary and you simply have to remove and re-insert the cartridge.

I've run a across a few "broken" cartridges (glitchy graphics won't go away), but usually they are a pretty resilient medium. Cleaning the contacts sometimes helps.

Two things could be happening here:

a) The contacts aren't making proper contact. This could be caused by dirt, and could simply indicate the pins need to be cleaned. Give the cart a thorough cleaning and try again.

b) The cart is shot and irrepairable. I'm not sure anyone knows what causes this.

Regarding point B, I had a copy of SuperGrafx Ghouls 'n Ghosts that suffered this fate. I heard Black Tiger also had a copy of Bonk that went the same way. It's rare, but it happens. I can only assume the cart was subjected to some sever magnetic field, severe heat, etc that damaged the IC(s) in the game.

is it possible it got bent a little in the mail? that might cause the poor contact...

Put the hucard in the freezer for 4-5 hours, then try it out.

hell ya, im willing to throw it in the freezer as i have written off this bonks game completely, i have cleaned the contacts have tried it in a number of different systems and it comes up exactly the same every freak'n time. Its so messed up i play it from time to time just for kicks (when i am high :P )

and guyjin im with ya there, some postal prick handle it without care and a slight bend may be the problem.
This bonks hucard has been brought to you by the letter "F" as in fucked!!!!!!  :P

I had a PC Genjin 2 HuCard like that, except it was pretty minor and only happened at specific spots in the game.

Cleaning it never helped and it was the only HuCard I've ever encountered that appeared to be permanently damaged.
