Title: Alien Crush and Tombs & Treasures same composer?
Post by: Zeon on 05/07/2008, 05:05 AM
Hey everyone, I have something that has been bothering me since I discovered it. I am hoping that someone here can shed light on this.
So if anyone has played both Alien Crush for the tg-16/pce and Tombs & Treasures for the nes, you might have noticed this. The music that plays during the final boss of Tombs & Treasure and the Ending music of Alien Crush ARE THE SAME. Same notes, same chord progression, same everything except ones uses the nes sound chip's instruments and the other uses the pce's. Did the same composer do the music for both games or what? Anyone know? Just download the respective .nsf and .hes files if you want to see for yourself. It's track 15 on Tombs & Treasures, and the song entitled Ending on the Alien Crush playlist.

You should upload those music files to mediafire and share. I'd love to hear.  :)

Wow, I didn't know Alien Crush actually had an "ending." I've certainly never seen it. I'd guess you have to be some kind of animal to make it that far.

Yeah I didn't really think pinball was any kind of "winnable" game, either. I thought it just kept going until the player died.

IMO more than likely the music was just ripped off as opposed to the same composer submitting the same exact thing.  just a hunch.  I could be wrong.

It does, as does Devil's Crush and Time Cruise; they end when a max score is reached (I used M.E. to satisfy my curiosity).

Compile had a hand in both games, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Really runinruder? I couldn't find any info on the net pointing to Compile's involvement in Tombs & Treasures. What's your source?

Oh and the files are now up for all to listen to.

Tombs and Treasures was actually developed by Falcom. It was called Asteka 2, and was the sequel to a text adventure they did. It was later ported to the NES and was released here as Tombs and Treasures. (Source: Hardcore Gaming 101)

...and your source (Hardcore Gaming 101) states that Compile designed the Famicom (NES) version.

Well I know that Noriyuki Iwadare did some music for Alien Crush.  However, I don't know if he did all of it, or just one track.
Its also possible he wrote some music, and then Compile just bought it for use in both games.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a track, specifically made for the NES version of Asteca 2.  I have the Saturn version, but, I don't think there's a way to access the music.  Or maybe it's the first game that's on the Falcom Classics 2??
