I deserve a purple heart medal for this. 8)
I think everyone in shout made it clear they didnt care, but well done anyway. Just for the record,I do like both of the Samurai Ghost games, own them both, but I completely understand why others dont, esp the first one.
Why on Earth subject yourself to this mess? Especially when there are..... GOOD games available for the system!
For me its just the undead japanese theme and the way the game looks/plays on the large character parts. The small sprite areas Im not fond of at all though on the first game. I also love Time Killers though,so I dont tend to always go with the crowd on some well hated titles.

I knew that was coming! Nat you are the greatest!
I think I should also mention I play these 2 games maybe twice a year,so Im not a hard core fan or nuthin. I like them about as much as Dragon Spirit, the PCE Shinobi port, or Shockman 2. However back in 94 when I first got the US Samurai Ghost I did play it hardcore, beating it often. One of my fav titles back then.
I have to admit, it took stamina to defeat such a steamy pile without falling asleep or passing out from massive blood loss from your ears. I'm not sure if you deserve a medal though, as Genpei isn't particularly difficult - it just sucks. :D

What, is the shout box the new social justice or something?
You guys need to play Rock On and Toilet Kids. Now those are the definitions of suck. [-(
Did you get the bad ending or something? I couldn't read the text but boy did it look like the boss, after being defeated, just kicked your ass back in return. And the sour music at the end...

That is the ending.
Michael, who cares about the consensus on shoutbox?! Not I! :)
I was interested to hear about this, since I haven't beaten good old Genpei Toumaden yet.
I will, though, when I get back to it. I was playing the Famicom version a few weeks ago... talk about masochism! I hope the cart didn't leave a residue in my console.
I'm impressed. congrats!
You know I gotta say, after watching three minutes or so of this video, this game looks a lot cooler than I had always thought of it. I should pick it up.
damn nice one & nice game! :D

Yeah it is definitely very underrated in this forum. Genpei isn't really a bad game at all.

Thanks Tatsujin :)

yeah..why should it be such bad as some people tell? i like to hear a honest statement of those who diss this game to the bottom!!
Thanks for posting that vid :D I never bothered to play that game past the first level. The multiscrolls are nice and graphics are the later levels are an improvement.
I was watching that video of yours last night nintega.
Still about halfway through i lost interest the game has a cool theme, but i still don't think much of the game play.
Btw ever thinking of getting a video capture card ?

Here ya go: the controls are poor, the backgrounds are mostly simple, the bosses are repeated, and the sound sucks.
"Mostly simple" is the understatement of the century. There are a few that pass for "OK," the rest consist of, for example: a shit-brown void with a couple squiggly lines.
no love for a classic from '86, eh? :(

I will when ever I have the money for one.
