Title: The SCORE of a lifetime!!
Post by: oldskool on 06/27/2008, 01:39 AM
I am so excited about this, I must share!

A friend of mine came over and noticed my game collection.  He asked if I had the Turbografx, and I told him that I used to own one, but not anymore, but that it would be nice to have one again.  He then told me that he had one with a bunch of games that he was going to throw away because he thought that it was just old garbage that no one would want anymore!!  I was like HELLL NOOO I'll take them!!  So he gave them to me.  I offered him some money, he declined.

He gave me a Turbografx-16 w/booster, a TurboExpress w/tv + car adapter, about 40 hucards, 6 controllers, and a turbotap..  for FREE!!!

So I took all the stuff home, wiped everything down, cleaned the pins on all the games, and basically tried to run all the games and both systems, controllers, the tap, everything to check the condition.  Everything seems to work fairly well really, I will start another thread about some of the tech problems.  Most of it are common things.

OK, here is a list of the games that I got.
Not sure which ones are rare and whatnot, I did end up with 3 dupes, so if anyone wants to trade some of their dupes for mine, that's cool.

Andre' Panza Kick Boxing (2)
Victory Run (2)
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (2)
Soldier Blade
Super Star Soldier
Falcon
Military Madness
Turbo Grafx CD System Card
Chase H.Q
Cyber-Core

King of Casino
Would Court Tennis
Legendary Axe
Power Golf
Dungeons and Dragons Order of the Griffon
Devil's Crush
Neutopia
Dungeon Explorer
Final Lap Twin
Alien Crush
TV Sports Hockey
TV Sports Basketball
Battle Royale
Blazing Lazers

Hell ya oldskool, some damn fine games, a few stinkers, but you sure can't beat free. I can't believe he was gonna throw it all away! Luckily you came to save the day.

BTW if you could bring yourself to part with a copy of victory run, i might be interested! Oh and i could always use an extra controller seeing as you have 6!

Some pictures of some of the rest of my collection (note: no picture of the Atari+games, and many of my consoles)
I also have about 30 more PS1 games in a cd case somewhere (they are all missing the jewel cases)

That's awesome, and you lived to tell about it!  If somebody offered me a free haul like that I'd probably die of shock.

That's probably the best Turbo/PCE score I've heard of to date.  You can't really beat free!

That's some cool friend you have -- hope you take the dude out for a beer on a regular basis.

WIN for placing Soldier Blade at the top of that stack- not only imo is it the best game in the lot- but it's arguably the 3rd or 4th most expensive american hucard now...

This friend of yours- a great friend but a damn fool.

That's a good friend you have there, but he needs his arse kicked (in a rousing game of Bomberman '93) for even thinking of trashing such a lovely collection.

Yup, Bomberman '93 and Soldier Blade are probably the rarest games in that haul. Good stuff, and you can't beat free.

Yeah he's a real cool guy.  He said that the TG was all that he played when he was in the AF.  He said that these games/systems have been with him all over the world!  Pretty cool.  He said that the Turbotap was abused like no other!

He also said that he's got the CDROM for it somewhere in his house, if he finds it or runs onto it he's gonna hand that over too.

I thanked him many times over.  And yes, I plan to make it up to him somehow.  (he doesnt drink much or eat beef so no steak)...

That is so awesome, congratulations!

I can't believe your friend didn't think about selling this stuff though. You'd think with the quantity of stuff you have, you could at least make some money off of it. If I ever come across something like that which I know nothing about, I'd look it up online to see if it's worth anything first.

True, I asked him about that, why he just doesnt sell it...  but he said that his family didnt believe in taking money for used stuff (unless it's like a car or something)...  he said that they don't have garage sales or anything, if they don't want something anymore, they give it away to friends, family, or charity.

Nice! I had similar luck recently. Good stuff you got there. Try out bomberman with a bunch of friends. That game is incredibly fun multiplayer.

Yeah I really want to, but the multitap has issues, it is currently apart and I am trying to diagnose the issue..  if I can't fix it I'll just get another one..

He also said he had another multiplayer game called Motor Roader or something like that, said it was a blast, but he can't find that at the moment..

Dude, that is a friend that you should never be without!!  I had a buddy of mine that had a genesis and about 15 games sitting in a box with a bunch of wires and crap, I asked what he was going to do with it, and he said "just throw it out"  he said none of it worked.  lol after taking it home and cleaning it up a bit I enjoyed playing my new Genesis with Battletoads and DoubleDragon...one of my all time favs!!

Oh man toads and double dragon is awesome...  although I've only played it on the NES.  Sounds like you got a total score yourself!
