would a PCE Rom Drive work in a TGCD system? and visa versa?
a guy i know has a few PCE Rom drives and wants to test them so the question came up :-k
tanks!!!
You are talking about just the "portable" portion of the CD player, right? If that's the case, yes, they're compatible.
yeah thats part i mean... and that be goooooooood news....
i would have thought they would not have been... very cool
I can confirm that they are compatible. I have both the TG-CD and docking station as well as a PC Engine briefcase and have used the CD ROM units interchangeably. I would like to get another black US TG CD ROM unit to go with the black PC Engine Core Grafx for a matching set.
Heh, did you think the PCE drive would damage the Turbo CD? :D
I want pics with the cross-region drives attached just to witness the coolness factor!
Here's mine.

Very nice. The TG-CD looks great with the CG.

Well if your going tease me about it than the answer is no :P
There was no fear factor just a question man.

Not bad, but the CGII looks more sexamafied when paired with the SuperCD.
Agreed, but the Supergrafx looks even more sexamafied then the Coregrafx when paired with a Super Cd Rom 2 unit, and sense I only have one to go around at the moment.....
Good point, but I think the SG and SuperCD combo is more utilitarian in appearance than sexy. Kinda like an orgy (all asses and elbows), yet the potential for unadulterated awesomeness is unparalleled.
Awesome! Now let's see the PCE drive on the Turbo CD.

It looks horrible as hell.
Nice to finally see a pic of this! I always wanted to see that. Kinda looks like a spraypainted PCE CD since it's so much darker than the Core Grafx and interface unit.

HAHA!!
...but kinda makes me want to see it even more... 8-[
Here's some photos of cross dressing CD ROM systems.

Haha! OK, Mike was right. It looks terrible. Now get that Turbo-CD back where it belongs. AND MAKE IT QUICK!!
That's not a good look, but what's on the screen looks much better than the consoles anyway. By the way, nice LT.
is it possible to find the CD-Rom units (JP or US) loose for cheap on ebay? jI mean without docking station?
I have been looking for a loose CD ROM drive for my docking station for months and have only seen one. It cost as much as the briefcase!
haha...cross dressing :P... thats cool to see no matter how crazy it looks  and that LT is sweet ass man =P~
how much does that baby go for if you could ever find it??

I got quote for that hehe "ebony and ivory lived in prefect harmony!"
Sticks out on that setup but it works for which i'm surprise to see.
Love the food tray. Have a kid, hoobs88? I swear I used to eat from something like that back when I was a li'l asshole.

No, I don't have a kid. It was the only thing that I could find to put the system on in front of the TV. Thanks for noticing.
I think that the Turbo should always be so prominently featured when it is being played. In fact the room lights should be dimmed and a soft spotlight shined on the system at all times it is powered on.
and you could hire a band to play fanfare! :-"
Yes, the band would always be playing the TurboGrafx-16 theme song whenever the console is powered on.
but the TG16 doesn't have a themesong.
(at least Sega has a choir...)
Maybe "Sweet Home Alabama"?

A loose LT goes for about $500. Boxed ones go for $600-$750 (I'm not sure what makes the box worth $100+) The difficult thing to find is the Super CD ROM adapter for it. Most people just use the briefcase, but then you end up with mismatched colors for the system and CD ROM. I think the price might drop next year when TV signals go digital. Just look at all the people selling their Turbo Express TV tuners.
ok quick question, - would a White PC Engine / CoreGrafx system work with a TG-CD docking station? Anyone have pics of what will probably be the ugliest setup???
NO because the connector is a different shape. The pins are the same. Think of it like trying to plug a JP Mega Drive game into a US Sega Genesis. Cart slot is a different shape so it won't go in. But if you bypass the shape, it works like a homeless person does for day old food.
I'm guess that the RAU-30 should make a PCE work with the Turbo-CD.
is that the adapter for like hooking up Supergrafx to a CD unit (to make the "Beast")?
Quote from: Duo_R on 11/17/2008, 01:54 AMis that the adapter for like hooking up Supergrafx to a CD unit (to make the "Beast")?
Yup, that's the one.
how rare or pricey are those???
