Title: Hi, I'm Press_Start
Post by: Press_Run on 10/13/2008, 07:03 PM
Hey all! How's everyone doing?

Few of you may know me from DP, but I'll introduce myself anyway. I'm Press_Start, nice to meet you all!  :D

I'll come out and say it. I am a fan of obscurity, especially in video games.
You say Mario. I say Kickmaster
You say Zelda. I say Rolan's Curse.
You say Metroid. I say the Guardian Legend.

Don't know why I am that way. Some say it's how my brain is wired. Others say I took too many knocks on the head.  ](*,) I SAY if a game plays well and lets me have a fun time doing it, then let the world know about it!  =D>

I may not have grown up with the Turbo-Grafx 16, but it is a gem that has caught eye and praise. So much so, I've already seriously collecting all US released titles (HuCard, CD-Rom, and Super CD-Rom) complete with game, manual, case, and BOX! So far, I've gotten 101 games and 59 are complete (62 when my stuff from Ebay comes in, and possibly 63, if I can win a certain auction.) I've attached a picture of all my Turbo stuff in one neat place. (or I would have it wasn't too large to attach.)  :(

On top of that, I've started planning to do a video review for the Turbo-Grafx 20th anniversary. It will be in 5-parts, spanning the entire month of September in 2009.

That's all I got now. Chat with you, later!   :)

Your name is in a lot of games right on the title screen.  However you are not featured in ANY TurboGrafx-16 or PC Engine games.

I was thinking of the exact aspect from reading his username. I had Mega Bomberman in mind for it.

Welcome, nonetheless, sir. I hope you enjoy this forum.

Run is superior to Start hands down. In the real world, Run button would hit Start from behind with a hammer, and after tying up Start and torturing it with more hammer blows, Run would kill Start with his silencer equipped 9mm, and dispose of Starts body in Selects car scrap yard. Long live the ultra secret Press Run Society!

Oh,and welcome to the community :)

"Run" is definitely unique to home consoles, but it is kind of cool.  It's "Run" as in "run the program".

I keep calling 'run' "start" anyway

I knew I should have went with "Press_Run"  Is it too late to change my account name?

It's not strange they went with "Run" when you realize the console was built by a computer company with stuff like the lack of second player port and pressing select and run restarts the game (which I find rather annoying sometimes  [-X) does substantiate the idea NEC had PC gamers in mind.

I do seem to recall maybe one or two PCE games that did say START instead of RUN. I couldn't get past the title screen of those games.

City Hunter and Hihou Densetsu: Chris no Bouken use START, though they couple it with PUSH rather than PRESS.

How about GET_TRY (Aldynes) or BEGIN2ING (Burai)?

Ah, Rolan's Curse.  I remember digging the box art and the title screen music.  The gameplay... not so hot, but I enjoyed it a bit when I was a kid.  Better game than Neutopia II.   :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  =D>

Btw, I've heard there a few on here who've worked for NEC and have knowledgeable background on their operation, does anyone know who they are and when I can contact them?
