Title: TODAY IS MY HAPPIEST DAY EVERRRRR~~~
Post by: wilsonw111 on 01/05/2009, 01:03 PM
I must share my happiness with you all.  I've been waiting for this day for 20 years.(almost).  I finally got it into my hands...... Yes,, the Pce-LT.  have been waiting for someone to post this bid for sooo long, and I finally won it at a costly price of 36,000 yen. (well I personally think the price was great compared to Ebay.)  it was tough tho; cus those guys in Yahoo Japan never want to ship overseas.. so I had found someone locally to bid and mail it to me which wasn't easy.  So Thank god I won.  I've been staring at it for the past 30mins,,.... man it just looks too good.  anyway,, just wanted to share with ya guys,,,
here are the pics..

Congrats wilson  =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~.

I've been wanting one for awhile (and boxed would be even better).   The last few have either gone insanely high, broken.bent antenae, missing port plugs, etc.

Yeah, and when you're done, mail it to me

I've toyed with doing a home-made LT jobby, a la Ben Heck. I figured it'd be doable somehow with Coregrafx, a gamecube monitor, a controller, and a dremel. Dunno.

And nice score btw!

Does it take batteries?  Or do you have to plug it in to use it?  Congrats!  Those are really nice!  How big is the screen?  How's the clarity, is it active matrix or dual scan?  How do the speakers sound on it?  wow that was a lot of questions..

Very nice!  I've bought a ton of stuff through Yahoo Japan Auction! using Celga.  Sometimes you need to be careful though.  A lot of prices on Yahoo Japan Auction can be as bad as ebay.  If you search the pc-engine section on there there's some games that are priced pretty crazy.  I guess price gouging is everywhere.  Anyways that's freaking awesome.  Looks like the Gameboy Advance SP stole the LT's design. Congrats again!

can't use batteries, it uses a/c adaptor only  9V.  Screen,, ummm 3" x 3"maybe.  ummmm active matrix or dual scan,,,, (ummm sorry Im too stupid to know). and Speakers are pretty loud, way better then the GT. i pray and hope the sound won't die out like the GT does over years......

You can tell if it's active or passive if the screen blurs during any graphical movement.  It's probably active.  Too bad it doesnt take batteries..  I wonder if you can get a rechargeable battery pack for it.

What is the point of playing an LT if they are not portable? Makes no sense. I'd rather have a PCE GT.

I don't know about anyone else here but I'd rather play games on a big TV than a tiny screen. I realize some of you here are diehard game and system collectors but I am not really a collector. I only buy games that suit my taste.

Well I don't have a GT yet but if I do get a chance to get one yeah I'd take it with me. Especially if I had to take long trips or wait for hours at some waiting room. People might snicker and stare but I won't care.

I think the PC Engine LT is a great option for married gamers. You can play it while your spouse occupies the TV. And since the screen is larger it might be full resolution instead of only partial resolution like the GT screen. I know in my house there's an outlet near the couch, so I can plug in my GBA if the batteries run low and still enjoy the company of my wife while she watches TV.

Who're you kidding, nintega?  You're far too insecure to not care what others think.  Now learn to use the enter key to avoid double posting and quit crapping on wilson's LT buy.

People like that obviously need to make fun of others just to get some happiness out of their sad lives ,and or they are mentally still in their grammar school years.

I occassionally see older people playing PSP, DS, and such so why is it so wrong to carry a GT around?

Who said I was crapping on his purchase? Actually I am happy the topic creator got his hands on a very rare PC Engine system. I first thought the LT was a sleeker GT. Therefore I said I rather buy a GT when I learned it wasn't a portable. As a matter of fact if I had loads of money to spend I'd probably would buy one just to show it off to every gamer online.

As for me being insecure, I am now over that phase. I really don't care what others think of me. I am much happier that way. Life is long.

I say it. because you've turned a thread about the awesome LT into a thread about you.

I don't know why Aaron has decided to tolerate you - you clearly broke the forum rules, and his allowing your exception will only encourage trouble - But I will not anymore. This will be my last communication with you.

The pixel count for the pc engine LT is 144,000, which is close to what the pc engine puts out, the pce gt has less than half of that...this is from 101 pcengine secrets and another place i cant remember the name of.

Wow, that's better than I expected and if true is actually beyond the PCE's capabilities (the PCE Secrets page says the LT can't show every pixel, but 512x242 is only 123,904 pixels).  Pixels to spare for more sexiness.

Yea, that is high, but I'm sure i read it some where else as well, course, one could be echoing what the other wrote, for comparison, the Sony PSP has a pixel count of 130,560.

It's pure foolishness to expect everyone to instantly forgive and forget your past asshat behavior.  You made many past claims of reform, only to return to the same ol' crap, so don't expect everyone to give you the benefit of the doubt now, accept you with open arms, and call you brother.

If you truly have changed and want to be a contributing member of this forum, then delete the bullshit from your signature, ignore anyone that speaks ill of you, and quit stirring up drama.  If you actually manage to keep your nose clean for a decent length of time, then you'll surely earn some people's respect (though some is likely forever lost).

I believe OP wanted to share his joy for owning such an awesome piece of hardware as opposed to creating the perception that he was just showing it off.

This also assumes he has loads of money to spend, which in his defense, he probably saved for a long time.

Anyhow, great purchase!  I hope to save a lot of money and own one myself one day.  Question, what is more comfy ?  onboard controls or separate controller ?

I think most people use a separate controller to keep the onboard controls tight and free from wear & tear. The system is rather top heavy and awkward to hold for a length of time which is another reason to set it down and use a separate controller.

Finaaaally... I'm able to shoot some pics of the LT. Amateur shot so please bare with me :) She's a pleasure to spend time with. Her screen is too beautiful, it has to be seen in real life. She was originally dirty and I had to clean her up quite abit, but I didn't mind that of course :p

Has anyone tried the TV on the PC Engine LT or Turbo Express since the signals went digital?

They haven't all gone digital yet, but what would be the point?  No signal equals lots o' snow.

Yeah, and if I wanted to look at snow I could just look out the window.  :(

they're still broadcasting analog up in Canada, right?

after we go all digital, you might be able to score a tuner cheap!  :-k

Oh yeah, you can still get a few channels in analogue yet. Days are getting numbered though. :(

Just want to add that if you have a Yahoo account with japanese bank account affixed and you speak Japanese enough to basically pretend to be japanese a good 30% of sellers will ship to you. :)

I have an LT. I bought it back when portable technology was not good enough to completely trounce its LCD screen. I'll probably sell it because the PSP with emulator really defeats my need for it. The only thing stopping me from selling it is mine is in pretty bad condition. As is always the way, as a trader and modder I would pull parts off it to make systems I wanted to sell look better and more valuable. Because mine was always just for gaming with. I'm not a huge collector because seeing 1000x the games you have in your collection come into and out of your house as you trade in them pretty much kills that. I always end up with the dregs as a result of wanting to make what I sell worth more. I would rather mod systems, make them look perfect and sell them on. And yeah I am the sort of person who loves portable gaming but stays in their house with it mostly, I like to take it from room to room and lie on my side and tip it sideways. Bought LT for that reason, don't need it now. Hell I bought a portable screen for my gamecube for the same reason (did not tip GC on side, but would tip screen on side.)

there maybe already lies the main problem of about 99.2% of the users in here :-k then they still have others to overcome.

I have an account. It takes living in Japan for longer than 3 months, enough to qualify for a gaijin registration card. Then you use that to get an online account at ebank.co.jp. If you leave Japan they allegedly shut your account down, but as long as you keep using it to pay people and send money into (I have it affixed to my Japanese Paypal account) I doubt they'd bother. I have mine (and am actively using it) 7 months after leaving Japan. Naturally I never told them I left Japan and am breaking their TOS but who gives a damn.

You can allegedly use Yahoo payments service with a foreign credit card but I've tried every single damn credit card I own (UK) plus every single credit card owned by my fiance (USA) and they basically reject everything. It used to be the case that most any card would work, but they changed that. They let you sign onto the site from oversea and they say they will accept foreign cards with some exceptions but the exceptions seem to be "all of them," including the card I sucessfully set up an account with 6 years ago which I am still using and THEY TAKE PAYMENTS OFF THAT CARD MONTHLY yet refuse it for new accounts. I wanted multiple accounts too for shipping to different countries but this limits me seriously. So I have to request "will you ship to the US" and "will you ship to the UK" on different items. My guise that I present to sellers of being a Japanese citizen "studying abroad" then looks shaky. Oh well. Hopefully most of them dont click on other things I've bought and view my questions to seller.

The other new rule Yahoo set up is if you don't reg your CC (which they never accept) or a JP bank account then they won;t let you bid on anything over 3000 yen. So you're screwed for bidding on most things anyway.

If anyone wants help sourcing items to be sent abroad I can help out for an obvious fee. I'd have your item sent straight to you from the seller, as opposed to using one of those insanely expensive holding services that bid for you by proxy. And like I say you have a 30% chance of the seller saying yes.

NICE!!!!!!! I've just picked up an LT mint condition, box is a bit tattered but the unit is brand new. the previous owner never used it by the looks of it. cost me an arm and a leg though. £650.00 around $800.00 I think. (scratches head).

well worth it though, I mean if you want to buy one of these of someone you have got to through some serious money at them. This guy wasnt letting it go for nothing.

Hi Wilson W111 nice LT, I have just bought one as well, 2nd hand but in mint condition, my box is in ok condition taking into account the age but your box looks better, there is not a mark on the unit though, and the screen is perfect. Quick question for you though, do you find that the lid is ever so slightly loose? does it have a bit of a wobble? mine does. It works fine and im sure its just made that way but i'm a perfectionist and I have waited for one of these for 20 yesrs plus too! its my baby and I love it. I tried to dismantle it to tighten it up but I bottled in and quickly put the screws back in LOL...
