Can you make a TurboGrafx (no CD) save game saves?
I noticed this item: A JAP PC ENGINE TENNOKOE 2 BATTERY BACK UP DEVICE:

Will that work on the TurboGrafx or just the PC-Engine; and does anyone know the pinout to wire directly to a TurboGrafx if it works?
I think that only works with the Jap Core Grafx. Am I mistaken?

Yes, via the TurboBooster+ or a CD Interface Unit (no CD drive required).

I believe the TG-16 expansion port is identical to those on the PCE/Core/CoreII (click for pinout (http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/pcebp.php)). The physical shape is obviously different, so it won't slide right on a 'whole' console, but I don't see why it couldn't be gutted and wired into the IntoGrafx
TM.
The TG-16 equivalent is the "Turbo Booster Plus".
Yes that thing is for saving highscores (tiger road!) and stuff like Neutopia.
It asks you in game if you wish to use the Filing Cabinet even!
I believe that the Tennokoe 2 uses batteries (too lazy to go pull it out to check), but the Turbo Booster Plus does not.
Thinking about it, even if I did have a pinout I couldn't use it anymore as I removed the external port section ages ago so have no way to trace the pins back!
Yes, the unit in my pic needs 3v (2 x AA's). If all the system does is just save hi-scores then it I don't see it as being of much benefit - I didn't know if you could save game progress on the fly instead. Never mind!

itll store highscore data, and can store most (all?) games with password systems....
I know for sure it stores Neutopia 1 and 2.
So it's a AA-battery equivalent of the TENNOKOE bank for the Coregrafx?
Cool. I've never seen one before.
I bought a Tennakoe card on ebay. Will it work on the duo via kisado converter?

You betcha.

Not exactly. The
Tennokoe Bank is the Hu-Card that lets you backup 4 banks worth of PCE BRAMs. The Tennokoe is the PCE add-on itself that stores game saves in BRAM (the JP equivalent to the TurboBooster Plus.)

Ok. That makes sense. Thanks ccovell.
