People rarely talk about Momotaro Katsugeki, but I think it's one of the best platformers on the system. I certainly like it as much as PC Genjin 2 and more than 3. It's got great music too.

Hanataakadaka!

I friggn love this game.

Also, Blue Blink, Fray, Burning Angels, and Bazaar de Gozaru. There must be too many good games on PCE for most people to keep track of because its always Rondo/Sapphire/LoT etc over and over again.

Momotaro Katsugeki is pretty nice too.

Even though it's nearly universally despised, Hatris is one of my favorite puzzlers on the PCE.

Wonderful games that are universally shat upon:

Timeball/Blodia = Divine. 'Nuff said.

Rock On = This game is strangely addictive and enjoyable. It has never been seen as anything but a joke, especially by shoot-em-up fans, but I totally dig it. I'm not saying I love it. I'm saying it deserves some tenderness.

Chris' Adventure = You're gonna hate me, but I actually like this game, even though the platforming can be incredibly unforgiving. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Mayan/Aztec/Mesoamerican settings. Maybe I'm a masochist.

China Warrior = I totally enjoy this game, even though the boss fights are the weak links. First, your ears are treated to KICKASS music (the thumping bass sounds great, especially for chip tunes). Years ago, I made the argument that China Warrior was a rhythm game. And it is. There are only a few things to "memorize" (i.e. there are a few tricky situations where the flying kick is perfect). Otherwise, you simply have to have good reflexes and respond to the cues.
Unfortunately, the boss battles aren't that great... they should have been more satisfying.

Few will say that they dislike Ninja Spirit, but few put it on their top 10 lists, either. It should be there.

If talking about lesser discussed games like Arkhan initially described, most of my favs have become more popular over the last few years. Needless to say: Tengai Makyou Ziria, Manjimaru & Kabukiden.

If we're talking about unpopular games that you like, I created a thread about it a while ago. The biggest one for me is probably Golden Axe which will always be one of my favorite PCE games for reasons I can't fully get into right now.

Even if it wasn't the first CD game I ever experienced or one of 2 or 3 games I first got for my Turbo CD, it'd still be a gem just for the cinemas, soundtrack and misc. For me it's an important part of the overall original Golden Axe and elevates Death Adder to an even greater level of awesomeness. 8)

Is Son Son II really an underdog?  It's lauded by almost all who play it.  True it doesn't have the name recognition of a Bonk, but it's a solid top tier game.

I don't know if you were influenced by my Gain Ground propaganda over the years, but it's good to see this game getting some tenderness. Isn't the Red Book soundtrack friggin' awesome?!

:)

Needless to say, I will jump at any opportunity to promote this game. Even if you are teasing me :)

I would suggest that you simply play around with the tiles (sliding them quickly) to see how you can re-arrange the track the ball rolls on.

In the beginning, the solutions are pretty straightforward and require a minimal number of moves.m

Later, it gets wonderfully crazy.

I'll throw in Metamor Jupiter.  Very odd, but atmospheric game.  Some really cool background effects,
and very cinematic like production.

Gainground is THE game that I play every time when I'm starting to discover my PCE collection once a year. It's a relaxing and not to hard game, that I enjoy playing for well over a decade.

I haven't played this game in a few years, but I am going to pull it out now that we know that it has a (limited) 3-player mode!
