Title: Zelda for PCE?
Post by: Heffa on 10/28/2009, 08:36 AM
When I looked around the net for some ROM files to try out my new flash cart once it arrives (yes I know flash carts are bad things and not something for a hardcore collector, but I really like to try out my games before buying them on HuCard) I found two Zelda ROMs for PCE.
When I tried them out in my PSP on an emulator it seems to be a pretty pixelperfect conversion graphically, although there was no sound and the shops didn't seem to work.

Anyway, does anyone of you know where they might come from?
Is it some work-in-progress community hack from somewhere or could it be some old asian (or whatever) clone?

It might be part of Tom's project of running NES roms on the PCE (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=6214.msg104827#msg104827), either by Tom or by someone using Tom's work as a starting point.

Well, I found them in a ROM compilation on ISOhunt, a torrent search engine...

I'll check the exact names once I get back home tonight, and see if I can find any readme or similar.

They were probably old versions of Gravis' game engine then, as the shops didn't work in those either...he hadn't gotten that far yet. They also had no sound.

I have visited the site http://www.adaptivetime.com/  and in the News section the last update was in the year 2007. It's not 2002, but it's a long time ago anyway. In that web there are also later versions of the game to download. Maybe if many people asks for it in these forums, the creator will go on with the project...  :?

Yes, that's probably the one.
Too bad the project seems to be dead though :-(

Have you looked at the code?  He doesnt know shit.  And what's with the editor thingy?  After installing the lame gtx program I opened the editor and everything is black.  It didnt even work!

This "game" is an abomination and someone should make a real version.

works fine for me.  As much as me and the author of that stuff bash faces, saying he doesn't know shit is a stretch.

oh come on!  i wrote this viewer for the (CRAZY!) file format for the levels in one day, ONE DAY!  it's only a start but you can see it shows the first tile and information about it.  I even added 8x8 tile support.  fuck gtk, qt is waaay better.

im going to make a REAL editor.(http://adaptivetime.com/zeditqt0.png)

Meh, fuck off poser boy. Gravis could outcode your punk ass with his eyes close. And what is that piece of shit you call an editor? I've got better editors coded in VB6 typed out with my 12" penis.I bet your editor doesn't even support 8x8 pixel tiles. It looks like a school project for a 9th grader.

Hey genius, if you're such hot shit, why dont you post your editor.  Seriously, you program VB? dont make me laugh.  Perhaps you missed the part where I wrote, "I even added 8x8 tile support," dumbass.  And come on, your "12" penis"?  Sounds like you have some serious insecurity issues.

My editor is on frozenutopia.com, punk. And I can code in VB better than you can code in whatever bullshit language Qt Editor is or whatever the fuck it is you use. But hey, it's not my fault your cock is tiny; I bet the only time it's touched a woman is when your mother changed your diaper last week.

Well you are off to a classy PCE Dev scene start yknow, insulting the other developers and all.

Why don't you pack up your toys and little trinkets and go rub penises with the other infants.

And is your reading comprehension that fail?  Saying "ive got better editors programmed out in VB" is meant to insult you.  You have to be pretty daft to miss an insult like that and take it seriously.

OH WAIT

you caught us.   We write all our PCE software in VB.

Whoa-whoa. Who are you? And why are you here? What do you want? Your very first post and you blatantly insult another coder? Are you really that immature? If you don't like his source code/app/whatever, keep your comments to yourself. It's like not Gravis is going around talking shit, and you need to put him in his place or anything like that. All you're doing is trolling. Fix your attitude or leave.
