Sounds good Sparky! My ebay ID is lioncub10. I hereby pledge to sell using penny auctions and to avoid bidding on outrageous buy-it-nows at all costs.

Sparky, I have already begun spreading our ideals in other places, such as on petesgameroomforum, where one of the mods was telling others that US Duos could go for $700, easy.

Check these threads out:

thread 1 (http://petesgameroomforum.com/topic/3399574/1/#new)

I got down to the part in thread 1 where Nintega's name showed up, and then I jumped ship.

That said, sign me up for the club. I'll be awaiting my membership card. I haven't bought anything off eBay in.... months, at least, if at all in 2010.

Ok, dude.

I'm down. That said, I do use eBay/half.com quite a bit for buying and selling (member since 1998), but I deal with mostly ancient records and Audio Equipment, most of which is so old it only exists in books, in Grandpa Joe's basement, or fringe newsgroups on the internet. That said I use eBay exclusively for Epson printer cartridges because otherwise they are $24x6 per refill and that's stupid-greedy-expensive on Epson's part.

The last video game I sold was a boxed copy of "Star Mission" or something for the NES for like $6, 8 months ago. The buyer sent me an email proclaiming that it was his favorite game from childhood. I asked him If he had ever played turbo in my reply.

The last game I bought was Dracula X for $68 shipped from England. Complete.

Same as blue for the most part..I'm in.   Let the "gotta have it now/pay whatever it takes" asshats screw themselves (and us)...their time will come.

Nice 4 strong members and yes its ok to use ebay but not to be a fool when using it...

This is all about using common sense when buying from ebay or any other forum or store... there is a lack of this in so many these days.

I will be working on the design of the cards and i will be including bonus items to send with the card :).... also bonus items through out the year like xmas :)... its all about a group that believes in this place and what is fair and real on what our hobby/enjoyment is worth. <<group hug>>

Unfortunately I use ebay quite a bit to get some of my stuff;   sometimes it's my only option for the weird obscure games that I'm looking for.  With that being said, I believe that I don't screw myself over too much and when I sell things, I think that my prices are fair.  Feel free to check my record (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=smashed_brother&ftab=FeedbackAsBuyer) and decide whether or not I'm worthy enough to be part of something greater.

what happens if we buy something obscure/rare/pay what its worth but noone else knows wtf it is and thinks its a waste of money.
Title: Re: Membership has its privileges.. the "Fuck you ebay card"
Post by: Sparky on 07/11/2010, 08:53 PM
what happens, what if??????... it is all under judgment of this crew... so use good judgment when buying is all i have to say.. if you buy something obscure that is fine but common sense will prevail :) dont worry Ark you are part of the good but that is my opinion. :)

EDIT HERE-----> Smashed Brother: i looked throw your ebay stuff and you seam fair man,  if there are no other objections will add you to the list... dont slip up :)

Cause I mean I just spent 500$ on a bunch of out of print, near impossible to find miniatures/stuff for a game called Legions of Steel a few months ago on ebay.   That's what happens when the company gets sued by Games Workshop and is fucked out of existence I guess.

wouldn't want something like that to make people go OMG IDIOT SPENDER ON EBAY.

....cause less stuff went for more at an auction at origins, lol.

Lets restrict this to ONLY video games/ pce and tg16 merchandise as that is where the fuckery lies on ebay...
Other ebay buys don't count as i am sure we cannot relate nor do we care.

Fuck yeah, I can't wait to judge and mock others (more so)!

Sign me up, though I see it more as a "Fuck Ebay Douchebaggery" club.  There's still plenty of good deals to be found on ebay, so I can't quite throw all of it under the bus.

it is all in good serious fun with this club :P...

The cards are ready and will be printed tomorrow... They will come with a self laminating slip cover that you can apply after you sign the card... no special equipment needed.  8)
I did a small change with the word FUCK to F@ck... my printers boss is a bit of a dick so i softened the blow with the word in case he sees the cards :P  <<shrugs>>  looks more stylistic anyways <<designer pose>>

How about you do a little edit to that card there Sparky?  Based on what you've said so far about the standards of this club, you should edit the name.  It should read:  The F@ck eBay Unless I Can Get A Good Deal Club".  :-k

What's the point of making a club called fuck eBay when the first people interested freely admit they shop eBay and your ok with that?  Maybe you could call it the:  I Only Pay Low Prices On eBay Club?  :-k

Ya i am ok with ebay being used, i do not use it but it is just a fun little club of members that do not over pay or gouge on TG/PCE stuff on ebay... it is shaping up quite nicely i think.
so no it is fine the way it is :)

I would buy one but I would want the full word "Fuck" in it, or maybe a "*" instead of an "@". ? Can that be done? Not trying to get you in trouble I just like mine to be offensive  The way it is now reminds me of how they say "Frack" on the scifi channel in place of fuck.

I suppose I should join, although i do sometimes buy a few things on ebay, its usually only open auctions and not from stupid gougers.  I try and sell or trade items on sites this this first.  Ebay people usually just want to resell things.  And ebay fees and rules etc are tailored towards sellers who sell thousands of cheap trinkets for minimal profits, not normal people like us.  It used to be different, but now its crap.

Got my stuff yesterday. Thanks!

As it stands, I haven't bought anything Turbo related from eBay in at least 8 months. The last purchase was Card Angels for $12, surely a great deal.

I still think we should all start supporting GameGavel. The selection sometimes isn't so hot, but if the community doesn't ever step in it will never be a better alternative to eBay. There's my 2 cents.

Game Gavel is an auction site that caters to retro gamers. They have new generation games too, I think. Their selection has steadily gotten better since last year. Except for the Turbo. :( It's been lacking a little lately.

yeah so all they do is look at ebay prices and then sell for the same on this site.  the thing is though if everyone from pcengine fx sold on here kept the prices good and they would make out just as good in the end due to cheaper fees.  plus everyone here wouldnt have to deal w ebay. and then this could also be a safer place to buy.  peps would judt have to use thire pcenginefx names as part of the fack ebay club

I used Gamegavel exclusively, or tried to in 2007-2008.  Started a store, posted links to gamegavel from my site...etc etc.

And every auction I had, were sold with only one bid to the then owner of the site.  Just to give everyone fair shot, like I do when I do sell on evilBay, I start all my auctions at under a dollar.

I know the site is now owned by different people, and its a lot more popular than it used to be... but.  It left a sour taste in my mouth.

I remember selling an N64+Controllers+Hookups+FzeroX for $1.  And a CDi unit for $1 too.  I was pretty pissed.  I sent a message to the guy that was a member here that I was pissed and GameGavel was just a bullshit site made to plump up the guys personal collection.. lol.  I thought it was DragonWarriorJason or something like that.  He just apologized.. but from what I understand he's not affiliated with the new site.

An intressting consept!
F@ck ebay......well I buy allmost everything on ebay but do not sell anything ever (except for doubles for witch I never ask more than I've payed my self. and never on ebay only local auctions sites in sweden) on ebay or anywhere else. I also buy from "risingstuff", "game of japan" and a dozen other places, where ever I can find the best price.
Mostly PC Engine hardware at the moment, have my sight on a complete hardware collection and I'm close...
Worst will probably be the PC Engine LT...getting that one will probably ban me from this forum altogether lol
If I'm welcome in despite all the above let me know and I'll PM sparky  my address?

Not a chance!!
A busdrivers pay do not give enough room for big spendings in that department.
I do know a good price when I see it but that not said I'll pay anything to get a RARE game....
I'd rather buy the jp version of say bonk 3 for 35 bucks (Witch I have) than pay 350 for the american version.
(but I do want it, the us version of bonk 3 ;D )
I do not strive for a complete collection of the NEC PCE PC-FX or Turbografx 16 game systems, only buy the games I realy want to play and games that are playable regardless of the language barrier...

About two years ago I've bought DE II from a seller in the UK (mint condition) for £25.00 at that time aprox. $ 45.00 I think
at the same tim i got Exile II complete with the cardboard slip in mint condition for the same price.

My latest buy is a Supergrafx with pad, cable and PSU for $120.00 (Sparky! should I send my membershipcard back?)
Considering the normal Ebay price for a SG I think the price were perfect!

Got my F@ck Ebay card the otherday by the way Thanks!!

Here's a review of it. But it's basically a Linux based portable game console that plays emulators for a ton of consoles as well as MAME.

Nice! I need to get me one of those. I never could figure out a lot of emulators. Especially the NES emulator for the Dreamcast. Got KEGA and ZSNES most of the way figured though.

They're pretty cheap for what you get and it has a Dpad, not a stick, which is what a lot of portable emulators seem to have.

I haven't tried loading emus up on the Dreamcast, yet. How are the Sega and SNES emus? And how does the Dreamcast controller feel playing those games?

Just a thought guys...  for those of us that do occasionally try and fetch a decently priced item off of ebay.... maybe we could have a thread dedicated to tracking any auctions we're trying to win so that we don't compete with each other on anything.  So one person could say.. "hey I'm wanting to go for this auction.... <link>"  Then the rest of us will know not to try for the same one.  Ebay gougery is bad enough, but if we compete with each other on the few reasonably priced items... :(

As some may have seen I found myself a US version of Dungeon Explorer II for $150. The game is mint and even includes the back insert! I didn't think I'd ever pay that much for a game (excluding the Neo Geo), but I love the first game so much that I just had to experience it's English sequel. Yes, I could've bought the PCE version, but I would be missing out on the story. Plus I hear that the US version has some very good voice acting as well. I stand here to be judged. But go easy please. I have lost my protective shell due to molting.

*Hugs* Sparky

Thanks for the kind words Beemer

DEII is the only high dollar Turbo/PCE game that I really REALLY wanted because of my intense love of the first DE. At least I am not buying it to have it look good on a shelf. This motherf@cker is going to get played! I wish I could've waited long enough to get a deal like you did Sparky. But alas...:(

I'll never do it again <<<quiet weeping>>>

$150 isn't the cheapest I've seen, but it's certainly not the most expensive either. Impatience with DEII is also understandable. Out of all the Turbo games I've wanted since I started collecting it's up there in the top 5, if not #1. Just don't do it again! :P

I can abide by these rules. Ebay handle is marcel_alexis.

I tend to be a very cautious buyer on ebay, and only really buy complete games that are in good shape. I have been known in the past to pass up auctions that seemed even a few dollars high because I wasn't willing to pay more than what I thought was fair, I can wait it out most of the time. I've recently been visiting vintage game stores in the Seattle area and got a few good deals:

China Warrior (Complete, good condition) $8
Andre Panza Kick Boxing (Complete, good condition) $5
Space Harrier (Complete, good condition) $15
Devil's Crush (Complete, good condition) $15
Valis 3 (Complete, decent condition) $19
Double Dungeons (Complete, amazing condition) $14 (really mint or I'd have passed on it)
Turrican (Complete, good condition) $17

A bit more about me in general as a Turbo player:

I've owned a TG16 since right around the time they were released in the US. I was a RABID fan of the system, constantly scoffing at friends with the Genesis because I KNEW that I had the superior system no matter what they said. I read every review in every magazine I could on the system, games and PCE stuff. I didn't have normal posters in my room as a kid, only TG ads that were cut out of the magazines and posted on the wall. I saved money from mowing lawns to buy a converter and Street Fighter 2 when it came out in Japan and endured the 3 months shipping time to my house...

My parents were cool and got me the Turbo for Christmas one year the Turbo CD and the Super System Card the year it was released. I have toted the system all over the world with me as I moved around while serving in the Army, the system has never failed me. I desire to have a complete collection some day, but not willing to compromise on quality or price (to a certain degree).

Biggest Turbo mistake was selling it at one point before I left for the Army...I bought it back after 2 months because I couldn't stand it...thankfully I came to my senses.

Made a purchases today, and didn't run it past the club

$5.95 for Battle Royale with Game, Manual and Case (maybe sleeve, but not sure).

All the other listings on e-bay were around $20 at the time and this one was buy it now so I pounced. Any higher and I'd probably have passed, but been hard finding good Turbo games locally lately.

Sheesh, ever since I joined the club I pretty much used the forum exclusively for Turbo, and have done much, much better!

Since joining I have made 5 eBay purchases. All US titles.

Splatterhouse manual $4.25 shipped
TG-16 IFU $20 (working, listed as broken)
JJ and Jeff .99c (on eBay from forum-member oldskool)
*super-secret-secret-santa-item*
RType US - complete, manual THRASHED $6
Super Star Soldier - complete, manual THRASHED $7 (same seller $14 after shipping, he only charged me $1.60!!!)
*For both of these I wasn't expecting the cases or manuals.

I was going to buy Dungeon Explorer loose for $5 but BMW sent me his extra copy :D

It's a place called Amazing Heroes. Not much Turbo stuff there now, just 3 copies of Keith Courage, Sherlock Holmes Vol 1. Takin' it to the Hoop, and Tiger Road.

Buddy of mine goes in there a couple times a week to check for Dreamcast games and tipped me off.

Wow, $65 is a mighty fine price! May I ask when and where you got it? For me, the most important thing is the console itself with all the hookups, but the box is always a plus. I am kinda inclined from buying from this seller since he resides in the U.S.

Shipping alone from Japan usually costs about $65+ for a system.

I am not sure what the SGX system sans the box goes for these days.

I had a buddy of mine pick it up for me when he was in Japan. He got it at some shop in Akihabara. I also got a boxload of games and other video game stuff at the same time to save on shipping. The total bill was like $350, but the SGX accounted for $65 of that. It came loose with A/V cable and AC adapter (original). No controllers, but IIRC I got like three Ave 6 pads in the same lot so it didn't matter.

That was in 2006, I believe. 10+ years after I first learned of the SuperGrafx and made it a mission to own one. I'm a very patient guy when it comes to holding out for good deals. Believe it or not, somehow the SGX flew under my radar until the mid 90s when I finally joined the Turbo List.

Yeah, that actually really surprised me when I read that. I learned about it from reading all the game magazines BITD in the mall cigar store while waiting between buses on my way home from school. There were some small articles on the SGX, but it really intrigued me seeing it in the back pages of the mags in black and white, with all the ads and game store. It really did look "super". When the new issues would arrive I would hate it when I saw my bus was arriving. The fifteen or twenty minute wait just wasn't enough time when the new EGM or GamePro magazines were released.

Wow nat, that is a great story. Man I wish I had friends that went to Japan and help me out like that. The Super Grafx is such a neat looking system like Ceti said, and would really love to play some of those fantastic games like Daimakaimura and Aldynes without having to emulate them.

Finding a good deal on classic games is really hard these days, especially with this whole 'retro revival' fad many people seem to be in. Although $200 shipped ain't a bad offer for a cibler system I suppose, I'm going to see if this seller will throw in some games or lowers the price. If someone else gets it, oh well.

As with nat patience is key. If you don't want to pay that price just make a thread here and let it incubate for however long it takes. I am sure someone here will bite sooner or later.

That's a fantastic attitude to have. There's one thing you can be sure of, and it's a truth that I live by: there will ALWAYS be a better deal some day down the road. Always.

(Although, I'll admit, to date I haven't seen a better deal on a SGX than the price I paid. :) But I'm sure it will happen.)

I sold mine, loosie, but complete with matching controller, ac cable, power adapter + 1 game (battle ace) to a former member of this board for $120 shipped.

and tgxfan, those controllers shouldn't be specific to the supergrafx, as the background color of that controller matches not only the supergrafx, but the coregrafx (1) as well.  So you should be able to find them without too much hassle.  I remember picking up loosie PCE controllers in Japan for <$5, so even if you triple the price shipped to US, it still shouldn't be a huge expensive item.

Yeah Thnx for the info.  I think thats what im going to do.  Im pretty over the price I paid for it now and Im just happy to have it. Im sur ethat core controller would do just fine. :)

Actually considering this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Hucard-Case-2-Games-Turbo-Grafx-16-Turbo-Duo-/320633879730?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item4aa744bcb2

I have the case labels from Sparky, so could complete Aero Blasters (which I don't currently have) and Vigilante (which a friend will buy for $10). Still seems high to me, but finding a source for HuCard cases is hard.

Also looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/8-Turbo-Grafx-16-Game-Cases-TurboDuo-/260711665954?pt=Video_Games&hash=item3cb3a05122

Thoughts?

Post by: BlueBMW on 12/28/2010, 09:00 PM
Marll, honestly the last time I bought some cases etc, I paid something like $25 shipped for 9 sports titles (all complete with manuals and everything)  So that price seems a little bit high, unless you're just set on getting "original" cases for those particular games.  If you're just trying to pretty up your collection, find a lot of cheap sports titles and use the uber awesome Sparky labels.
Title: Re: Membership has its privileges.. the "F@ck EBAY Club" card
Post by: Marll on 12/29/2010, 04:49 PM
Yeah, I was thinking similar, the only thing that kind of made that auction interesting was the Aero Blasters, which I could "complete" with a Sparky label, otherwise it seems way too high. I'll probably just buy cheap sports titles and do it that way.

That second auction with the eight cases went for a decent price, I think. Less than two bucks per case.

A call to...not arms perhaps but Sparky.  :-"
Could you please make a good set of the sapphire coverart?
I do not have access to colorprinters, so for me it's a bit hard to get a nice cover for my
"Bemmer bootie sapphie"
You could mark them "F@ck Ebay"  8)
I for one need two complete sets
There has to be others who need  also?

Hello all, I'm new to the community, but I saw this thread, and decided to respond lol! For a long time now, I've disagreed with the path Ebay has taken, and have tried to steer clear of it as much as possible. Although I'm new to the NEC scene, most of the priced I've seen on there are absurd, and I've been forced to look elsewhere. Sign me up! I'd like a real reason to be the way I am lol!

There's one up on eBay for the exact same price (http://cgi.ebay.com/TURBO-GRAFX-NEW-ADVENTURE-ISLAND-GAME-/120675691923?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c18d4ed93), so I wouldn't say that's a very good deal when the seller is saving the fees and you'd be forgoing eBay's protections.  If you're patient you should be able to find a better deal, even on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Turbo-Grafx-16-GAME-New-Island-Adventure-WORKS-PERFECT-/220725329383?pt=US_Vintage_Video_Games&hash=item3364413de7).

I wanna join the club. I've never sold anything on Ebay, and all of the things I've bought from there I feel have been very fair or below average. I've actually have never sold any of my gaming stuff. I'm a big time local thrift store/game store hunter and all of my doubles have been given away to friends. One of my good friends got a modded Saturn in a carrying case and a starter set of games for his B-day, another sport fan freind got all of my NES sports titles and very clean NES for christmas.
Most of my PCE purchases have actually been from other forum members and I've had great communication with them and very fair deals.
I'll PM you my info Sparky

Ebay wasn't bad until everything went to Buy it Now.  No one auctions games for real market prices anymore, they just look at what everyone else is trying to sell them for and put theirs a little higher hoping someone will be stupid and buy it.

But yes, ebay has caused the prices on Turbo / PCE stuff to be grossly over inflated for no good reason at all, and as such few here are big fans of using ebay for anything Turbo / PCE related.

Yeah, I looked on ebay when I was considering selling my TG16/CD systems and the fucking CD was like $400-ish....but at least there were other sensible resources for pricing on the net for the systems...unfortunately for me Beyond Shadowgate didn't have anything else I could find for pricing (except racketboy, which is also apparently frowned upon)

To get an idea... I just a few weeks ago, paid about $145 shipped for a working good TG16 + CDrom setup.  (it was $175 shipped with an Arcade Card Pro)  That's about the top of what I'd consider a working good setup to be worth.

Sure you would, douchebag; you'd do anything for money.

Besides, who the do you think you're kidding?  We all know that the average TG-CD isn't worth anywhere near $400, not even on eBay.

I think you WAAAAY overpaid for that "Unknown Jamma Board."  :P  j/k - I'm sure you'll be able to get it to work and I hope it'll be something awesome!

Was it something that I said? The feedback I just got tonight on ebay has really set me off. The dude gave me positive feedback but then tells me not to wait ten days to mail out the package right there in the feedback when I didn't! I'm through with this crap. I had to wait for his funds to clear on my card so I could ship. I took three days like it should. Not to mention he payed on a Sunday, which slows things down again.

phhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooockkkkkkkkkk Ebayyy

They just took down my listing because I spilled the beans on how much I make after selling them something.
They said it was a listing violation but it was because I mentioned MO ( money order ) in the item discription.

The listing violation excuse was M9999 or something. Where I did not post a product review.

Seriously this is getting stupid, because I have an item up with no catolog information and these bastards just do not want me to list Money Order as a paying option.

I had over ten warnings about lising without a description, and some bas just decided to cancel my listing because that is how they get their rocks off. Right?

No money order in description, only paypal.

Do you have a link to the listing or is it gone already?  They don't allow money orders for payment unless it is a car, heavy machinery, industrial equipment, real estate, or porn.*  Dumb rule perhaps, but that's the way it is.

phuck ebay, phuck ebay, phuck ebay, and phuck ebay. They removed two of my listings because I did not input item description. Seriously phuck ebay.

1. Prevent you from seeing who is bidding against you.
Feel like being in a room of KKK members. I complained one time and this changed, for awhile and then it went back.

3. They used the catolagoe as an excuse. I think they are trying to get my account removed on purpose. I had a couple of items for sale and these bastards, took the only item, where I talked about how "ebay makes X amount of my sales". I honestly think they are trying to get rid of me, on purpose. To have a bunch of dickless sellers who are dickless actors, types. You know the types who buys things from the home shopping network. I list a "Super Gameboy II" and they are asking for crap which nobody can provide.

It went down to 95% after one buyer was unhappy with
something they made a mistake buying. Instead of them getting a negative for not paying. I get a negative for their retarded purchase.

They just want me to list a bunch of crap, so they can profit from my stuff. That is what they want, That is all they want.

They jack up the prices and even deduct on shipping.
WTF??????

Phuck ebay, Phuck ebay, phuck ebay.

I want in on this too, please.

What about sellers who charge a decent price but, make false claims about the games/cases/booklets being in mint condition and you don't find out until you get and inspect them?

Can that be considered Turbo Gouging since you're paying for what appears to be mint in the pic and description but, upon inspection has scratches in the title paint and wrinkles in the manuals?

This happened to me once and I haven't purchased any more games off of ebay since.

I don't know if the account that I had back then still exists so, a few days ago I made a new account.

It's KlashK9.

The older one -if it still exists- was ClashCanine or maybe Clash Canine. It's been years so, I don't really remember if the two words were combined or seperated and furthermore, I had a different e-mail back then, so applying for a password recovery wouldn't work so, that's why I made a new one.

If the old name is still in their database, you may be able to find the ratings that I gave to the jerk after he got snobby with me over the whole mess.

EDIT: Glad you like my avatar but, actually I chose it from a list offered by the forum default.
I'm planning on heading over to a photo hosting service soon so, I can get a more fitting avatar set up.

BTW, have you thought about adding any more TG16 related images to the card?

ONCE and you swear off Ebay?  Man that's a it extreme no?
Well, no. I didn't quit ebay really. I just got side tracked with other stuff. Actually, I think my last purchase may have been a body kit for an RC car or something.
I don't remember the exact order that I made my purchases in but, that one just stands out the most in my memories because how that punk screwed me over.

I wish I still had the proof pics that I took of the condition of the games once I got them!
Made me so mad I could have ate nails!

Hey, guys. Since I put those 9 Hus up for sale, I've been getting interest from people who have hardly posted a thing and most of the posts they have made have been in the sales sections.

I get the feeling that some of these dudes just want to turn around and sale this stuff at highway robbery prices and two of them are sellers for sure.

What do you think? Should I just give them the cold shoulder or what?

If you want the games to stay in the community then deal with anyone over 100 posts. Of course, this isn't a guarantee. On the other hand those hueys aren't super sought after or anything. :)

I definitely want these games to stay in the community even it means sacrificing some good trade in return.

I HATE price gouging with a passion! Nothing is worse for a serious enthusiast or low-income collector then to see something fairly nice being treated like it's a one-of-a-kind, ancient treasure that many an adventurer died for in order to bring it to the knowledge of the modern world!

It's disgusting how some people will take advantage of you when they have something that they know you might like to have.

I don't have time to haggle and play head games with greedy, money-loving twits.
If there is some game that's worth a pretty penny and I can afford it and have a place to keep it where it will be treated with respect then, that's all good and fine as long as it's not being sold at a whopping 6 times it's true value!

Well, that's enough ranting for me.

I think to be fair to the members we should let the regulars that post have the first crack at systems and games. I've seen too many posts from new forum members that post what they want then dont bother getting involved in other topics but bump the thread 3 weeks later with 2 posts to there name. I'm all for new members as we've all been there one time, But just don't join the forums looking to score cheap obey then leave or worse yet turn a profit on ebay.

Okay, Sadler. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right. I pegged mlbfan10 for a flipper and thought I'd give him a little taste of his own medicine.

I originally intended to charge him 10 for Galaga '90, 9 for Final Lap Twin and 7 or 8 for Kieth Courage. I forget if it were 7 or 8 then, I got to thinking about it and about how he said something about -"I might snag that..."- the TG16/6 game set in Cherryville, NC and it struck a cord with me that sounded almost heartless if that makes any sense.

To me it was as though he were saying "Hmmm! Might be able to make something off of that one, heh, heh, heh!"

So, yeah. If daddy warbucks was gonna make bigger bucks off of my stuff or anyone elses, I wanted to stick it to him.

There. I said it. You can kick me out of your Fuck Ebay group now if you want.

Nice spy work but, there is one last thing. I contacted the guy in Cherryville earlier today and told him that someone who flips games on ebay may try to rip him off and that if he wanted to sale his TG16 stuff, he should come and try to sale it here and that he'd probably get what he's asking for it.

It'll never sale on craigslist even if it is worth what he's asking so, I thought I'd do him a favor and get his stuff to go back in to the TG16 community at the same time.

I don't know if he'll come here or not because I haven't checked my e-mail yet but, I figure that if he does, he has nothing to loose.

So ARE you mlbfan10 or did he simply tell you the prices I quoted him?
Title: Re: Membership has its privileges.. the "F@ck EBAY Club" card
Post by: Sadler on 01/30/2012, 11:14 PM
First off, I feel shitty for dragging mlbfan into this. I seriously doubt he wants any part of this and it wasn't right of me to do so. Now, let's move on from that. It wasn't really spy work. I sold him an Express last weekend ($40 if you want to know). (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=10972.0) He asked me for some game recommendations as he had no games and I didn't include any. I told him my suggestions. I even asked the guys in chat if anyone had any dupes to hook him up with, but no one did. He PM'd me later asking if your prices were a good deal or not. I told them that I'm probably the wrong person to ask as I have a history of overpaying for games (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8477.msg190411#msg190411). I also told him that I felt your prices were too high and I linked him ebay auctions for each of those games that were cheaper, shipped, and actually included case and manual.

That should have been it. I was happy to leave it there, but then I read your message to him accusing him of being an ebay flipper (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9400.msg205084#msg205084) and it didn't sit right with me. There was and still is absolutely no indication that he's an ebay flipper.

Then I read your posts in this thread, decrying the evils of ebay. Even that I could let slide. When you further insulted new members, suggesting they were all ebay flippers, it really started to get to me. That's cool that you are an old school fan. You aren't the only one, and I can respect that. (https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8643.msg165198#msg165198) But to be shitty to someone new to the scene trying to get into turbo gaming is bullshit. Particularly when you yourself have been here a mere 2 weeks. That wasn't enough though, you had to go and post your rant about how shitty it is when people over charge someone when they know that person just wants to play the game. At this point the hypocrisy was simply too much and I said something.

So there you have it, the full story. Some of your posts I enjoy and some I think are foolish. Either way, I hope you stick around the forum and cut people some more slack in the future. As far as the fuck ebay club goes, I'm clearly not a member, so Sparky I apologize for clogging up your thread with this. What happens between the two of you doesn't really concern me.

And once again, mlbfan, I'm really sorry for dragging you into this. :(

I think most people with low post counts wanting to buy games are just people who got a basic turbografx recently and want some cheap games to go along. I recently just traded with someone a spare turbografx for some other game stuff on another forum and told them they should come here to find some more games. The dude seemed pretty cool and our trade was of equal value. They posted a WTB TG16 games thread and got no replies and I know a lot of the reason is people don't want to deal with noobs in fear of them being resellers.
But in all honesty most people on here are probably searching for some games because they are too expensive due to the gouging on ebay. We all just need to be a little more careful when accusing others of this or that and thinking people might just be resellers because we don't want to run off every new person on here.
When I first joined I got some really cool deals from people because I posted some pics of me new system and how I was interested and I'm really grateful to all the cool people on here who encouraged my hobby and hope every can get the same enjoyment from being on this forum and trading and the like as I do.

And once again, mlbfan, I'm really sorry for dragging you into this. :(
Okay. Let's see here...

I saw the Turbo Express coversation and correct me if I'm wrong but, did he not say that he only had $20.00 left over in his paypal account after he made that purchase from you?

If that were the case then how was he going to "...snag..." a $150.00 boxed console/game set that's near mint that so, far hasn't sold after at least 2 months on craigslist?

I mean it's pretty clear by now that the guy isn't going to take any less than that for it so, how is mlbfan10 going to get it with just $20.00??

I would like to be able to find TG16 games on ebay cheaper than
$15.00 with case and manual shipped.
Can you show me this? Because I have searched high and low and haven't seen a deal like that in years.

I didn't outright accuse him of being a flipper. I was simply letting him know that I was wondering if he might be, because of
the way he just casually mentioned that he "...might snag that..."
TG16 set on craigslist.
It just sounded like something a big game store owner might say.

WHO else?? I don't recall suggesting that any other members were ebay flippers at all.
Please. Do refresh my memory if I'm wrong.

If I have been shitty to anyone here, they have my sincerest apologies.

Has been 2 weeks already? Hmmm.

I know that I sometimes make foolish posts but, that's because
I'm an idiot. What is it everyone says these days to cover for
their incompitance?
Oh! I remember now! I can't help it...sob... I was BORN this waaaay!

mlbfan and anyone else who's toes I have stepped on, I am truly sorry if I prejudged you and you (mlbfan10) may have any one of the 9 shabby Hus I put up for sale, free of charge with no shipping charge.

Just name the one you want and it's yours.

See, Sadler. I can play nice even if I do tend to overreact at times.

Hey, guys. I have a question. I spotted a loose game on ebay that caught my interest but, the price might be a bit steep.

However, I'm not completely certain of this. It's a turbochip that looks to be in good shape and it comes with the sleeve. I didn't see any scratches in the paint either.

It's around 20.00 w/free shipping.

Does anyone think that that might be pricey for a shooter that is somewhat hard to find?

What is considered decent prices when it comes to buying boxes? Someone has boxes for sale but, he doesn't know what they're worth and wants me to make an offer but, I don't know what to offer without risking going over the limit.

Any ideas?

boxes are hard to gauge... to some i bet there worth $10-$20 a piece depending on the game but for me there $2-$5 maybe $10 for that odd sweet ass game... but i dont collect boxes so what do i know :P  Shrap maybe ask this question on the main forum as its a good one man.

Okay. Just thought I'd run it by you guys first so, I don't risk breaking the club rules.
Now that you mention it, anything over 5 does sound a bit much unless it's 100% mint and you have a place to keep it where it isn't in danger of getting crushed.

I'd say $20-30, depending on condition and whether it's on or off eBay.

Well, if you want to help keep the gouging rates down, I wouldn't go over 20 for just good condition, maybe bump it up to 25 for great condition and 30 for near mint and so on but, still even that may be considered over paying to some.
Try waiting a little longer for someone else to post their opinion before you make your choice.

You might have more luck with them on ebay and besides, pay day is still a ways off for me and I don't think I could really give you what you'd want for them anyway so, I don't see anything wrong with it as long as you try to keep the prices reasonable based on the condition of each box.

You could post the link to your old thread here and then ask everyone what they think would be too low or too high and then go from there.

out of curiousity what quality control is there against members here selling things at ebay prices?

For example a well established member tried to sell me JPN DH opened and used as a game should be for 50.00 when its on ebay for 50.00 sealed.  I dont remember who it was and it doesnt matter at this point.  Just curious?

look your taking an oath when ya sign up for this club and if someone is not going to follow it then we need to know.

Price gouging and over spending will not be tolerated and there will be consequences, and there has been in the past. Let us know about offences and will be happy to decide on punishment as a group (if there part of the club of coarse) :)

I did some pretty hefty spending at MGC a few weeks ago. In an effort to obey (get it? OBEY!) the rules I'll post prices paid if need be. Keep in mind they won't be exact as I bought in bulk to receive better deals.

Assuming that you're talking about Dynastic Hero, $50 for a sealed Japanese copy is a rip-off.  $50 for an open copy is highway robbery.

$3,200 was the price it sold for recently on ebay. Your post, when I saw it, did not seem sarcastic, it seemed quite genuine that you were happy to get it for less than your $4,000 bid.

https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=12933.msg255874#msg255874

How you'd expect people to get that post was sarcastic is beyond me.

EDIT: Wow, I did hellishly mistype. It was $3,206, not $3,2600, which is apparently a rare version of the atari 2600.

Ebays been a mixed bag...

I got fucked over on one Turbo game (Keith Courage) on eBay. Seller said complete, wasn't complete. No hucard sleeve or comic that came with the game. Had make an offer, started at 7, he worked me to 10 saying it was complete. It wasn't. When haggleing deal, wouldn't take "it's a pack-in title, it came with every TG" as an excuse. I should have paid $5 shipped honestly. Had a glue spot holding card to case, cleaned up and put on replacement sleeve.

On the other hand, I got a cheap lot of 2 games and Tennekoe Bank for $7 shipped from HK. They're used but it's not that bad.

I'd rather shop here honestly. I just got a white PCE/Tennokoe 2 and controller from Mishran. Which was a hell of a lot easier and cheaper than eBay.

I come fresh from the SNES/Super Famicom world, where games like Milons Secert Castle 2 are like $140 cib. Even Zelda 3 is getting up there these daysand it's one of the most common games on the system.

It will have a cardboard base inside at the bottom( similar to those styrofoam pieces) to hold your generic cd or tg case & game, I made the box just like the tgcd boxes so it will hold it perfectly. These will be dirt cheap like under $5 and I will give some out for frees once I get them perfect.

It just offers another shelving solution for the guys that need that, no fucking way should people be paying $200 for a cardboard box, just trying to help stop the insanity!

Not much in trade secrets.. Find a good reliable print supplier that prints on a good quality card stock, some design skills so you can scan and colour correct and make I die line to follow for cutting, beable to use a cutting knife for cutting and scoring... ( I am an exacto ninja by the way) and patience as these things take time cutting and building by hand. I can get into exact stock and more boring details just pm me and I will be happy to share man.

Yeah Sparky that looks crazy awesome!  Now delete all traces indicating that you made it and go over to Neo-Geo.com to sell it.  Tell em' $2k due to vintage game inflation.

Good God that is beautiful!  The colours really pop.

When are you going to start making HU card trays?  ;)  If only we could find a reliable source.

are these marked anywhere that they were made for the pcefx forum or f ebay club to call out any possible future shenanigans or mix ups?

Haha, thanks guys.. And I am just finalizing some things, but not to worry Punk there is a small disclaimer on it and also the copy on the back of the box is a bit soft, I am going to leave it that way so there is a see able difference as this home brew really does look close to the original.

I hope to have a raffle for a few of them by next weekend for the f eBay members that are interested :)

I'm so pumped, I just received my club card in the mail yesterday. Thanks Sparky!  I'm now a proud member of the club and will give Ebay the evil eye at every opportunity.

My wife thought the whole thing was hilarious when I explained it all to her.

Sparky, if you ever copy the manual please keep me in mind.  It would go nicely with my everdrive.

I like the full manual to flip through.  never understood why.

If i knew someone who trusted me with their manual i would have one made.
