Poll
Question:
What do you guys think?
Option 1: Leave the forums the way they are!!
votes: 10
Option 2: Get rid of them!! They're pointless!!
votes: 6
Option 3: Keep 'em, but get productive feedback from the users and change the forum.
votes: 6
Why not let us vote?
Seems to be that the decision has been made already no?
No matter what change is made to the forums (or almost any internet forum, really) at any given time, there will be people who shout from the rooftops "Leave them the way they are!!" We did listen to member feedback when we considered combining the PC-Engine and TurboGrafx-16 forums, thus they remained separate. The Fighting Street forum is not exactly in the same league. Hell, it's not even in the minors.
But, there has got to be a place to move a thread that has gotten out of hand. A sort of punishment per se.
Thread moves as punishment? That almost makes me LOL. Threads that get out of hand get the lock icon.

I'm serious, Joe. I can see locking a thread if it is just nothing but flaming going on, but if a real discussion gets too heated and hateful you come in and say, "Shape up guys or this threads goin' to the War Room!" Save locking for last resort.
Joe, was any "feedback" regarding the users of this forum mentioned other than the vaguely-worded Chik-o-Filet post that resulted in Arkhan and RoyVegas making up during a Beastie Boys duet? (Which, by the way, was fucking epic.)

I don't understand your point. But argue all you want, this forum will be closed. I do find it funny that until recently, this forum rarely ever had a new post, and now people get anxious when they hear it is going to be closed? Please. #-o
Mathius, moving a thread to a "War room" is not punishment at all. It's just in a different location, that's it. If I came in to a thread and said "Shape up guys or this thread is going to the war room", nobody would give a rat's ass. I might as well say "Hey guys, if you don't shape up, I'm going to surf another forum for a while" because it really doesn't matter. Also, the Neo-Geo forums should not be a model for anyone. The place sucks balls in many regards.

But this is exactly what we mean!! If a couple posters get out of hand in a thread, say in the Turbografx buying/selling forum, and a mod came in with a warning like that, I bet more times than not the posters would shape up rather than have they're information moved to a war room/fighting street.

It seems so, but that shouldn't mean that we can't protest, and continue to do so in the other forum areas till a fighting street/ war room is returned.
;)

I do agree that Neo-Geo.com is full of douchbags, but that method seems to be an effective measure there. I am not trying to argue with you Joe, I just think that sometimes War Rooms are a necessary evil.
The forum is going away -- there's nothing that can be done about that.
But we can still mock Joe Redifer forevermore for being a tool. Two weeks ago, when he said Fighting Street should go away, he acted like a whiny little kid (because other users were clearly not agreeing with him). Hell, he acted like a whiny little kid from the day it was first introduced. But now that the forum really is going away, he acts all high and mighty. That's "tool" defined.
Another way to look at it.... an eight-year-old gets a toy. The drooling three-year-old sibling doesn't like to see the eight-year-old get a toy, so he whines and whines. The parent suggests they share. And, of course, the toy gets broken as soon as the drooling three-year-old touches it.
That's Joe. He just couldn't stand to the side and let users enjoy their little toy. He had to come barging in and try to "prove" the forum was a bad idea. When that didn't work, he started moderating it. When that didn't work, he acted like a little baby and went crying to mama and papa. And now our toy is broken.

I find it funny that the attacks on you recently lead to fighting street being closed.
Joe I think your a decent mod and a decent guy & i get a lot of laughs with your replys...but you have to choose your battles man... fighting street was never to be taken serious, its a swear feast and a vent for some with stupid topics and say anything....christ look at your rasist jokes thread you started for shits and giggles? I tell ya if i was a mod i might have locked that one my self :P....
my point is its for cheap laughs & a smile or 2., again never to be taken serious
Anyway go close it down, but why wait till sept 1st???... hahahha.. that is another funny point, why wait?
oh well... it will be missed but wont affect me sleeping at night.
You gave us no chance to even have an opinion, You simply started the "Should the Forum Be Closed On Sundays" thread in an attempt to be funny, with no intention of actually asking anyone for input. Thankfully Roy & Arkhan actually gave the thread some lulz.
No Sleep Till Brooklyn!
I'd also like to point out that you had the inaugural post here in Fighting Street.

That's it exactly! Topics are made to be viewed by the public, and if the topic gets out of hand it gets thrown into the War Room out of sight from everyone, save forum members.
Who posts threads and comments for lurkers to see? I don't give them a thought when I post. But if lurkers not seeing the thread classifies as some sort of punishment, well OK then. Even when I am not signed in at Neo-Geo.com I can see the War room, or at least I could the last time I went, whenever that was. I GUARANTEE you if I went into a thread and threatened members with moving it to Fighting Street unless people shaped up, I'd be met with comments like "Go ahead, I don't care, who gives a shit!" and "There's Joe, trying to act tough and wave his power around again and show everyone who's boss" and other derogatory yet pointless statements.
Also, I am not the one closing this forum. Everyone seems to blame me, though. Whatever. I'm sure no matter what happens, it'll all somehow come back to me if someone disapproves. If that's what it takes for some of you to get your jollies, so be it.
If that's the way you think I'd act Joe then I'm sorry you feel that way. :(
No, not YOU personally. Actually I doubt you'd ever be too deeply involved in TEH DRAMA. But others would give similar responses for sure.
Oh ok.

So then is Aaron paying any attention to the 15 people that apparently visit the Fighting Street forums that have voted on this poll?
So far 12 out of 15 are for keeping the forums around.
If more people vote on this and the majority are still for keeping them around, would Aaron change his mind?
I think it sucks that you guys are closing the Fighting Street thread. I usually don't comment here, but it is always fun to read the comments on these pages. Fighting Street is all about people firing comical insults to others which they don't whole-heartedly mean, it's all about the lulz. But I guess Joe doesn't get that. And besides, it's just a person behind a computer screen whose identity is protected. Fighting Street is like reading the comic section of the newspaper. Does that mean I have a dark sense of humor? Perhaps, but I am not the only one who feels that way. I wish Aaron would comment on this situation.

Rocker's post here couldn't be more true. Of course Joe says Aaron wants it closed- who held Aaron's ear? Who's the little bitch who cried about it from day 1, tried to prove to Aaron it was a bad idea, who's the only jerkoff who felt obliged to moderate it? Who's the only bullshit artist who said nearly everyone wants it closed and no doubt said that to Aaron? Aaron's hardly even fucking here- he didn't just grow an opinion on the matter while he was looking in his telescope one night or whatever. Forget about "everyone", forget about "Aaron"- there's one person here who wanted his way from Day 1 and now got it. Joe Dullifer- bastard love child of Fred Gwynne and Stephen King with the biggest Sega stick up his ass. Feel powerful? You fucking joker.
And really Joe be a man for once and stop with the "Oh why's everyone think it's me??" bullshit. Truth is you're not smart enough to fool everyone here. You're actually a bit of a moron.
Holy shit, I find myself agreeing 100% with E.R. Is that one of the signs of the coming apocalypse?
Quote from: JoshTurboTrollX-16 on 08/30/2010, 08:11 AMIf more people vote on this and the majority are still for keeping them around, would Aaron change his mind?
Probably not; he's hated Fighting Street from the word go. He was just looking for an excuse to close its doors, and Joe's unceasing pissing and moaning finally provided that excuse.

It could be, the last few posts pretty much hit the nail on the head. Athough, I thought you were already in robot hell?
Quote from: blueraven on 08/30/2010, 01:35 PMAlthough, I thought you were already in robot hell?
Of course I am. When the apocalypse begins, I get to come forth and start reaping unrepentant digital souls from machines while they're still online.

And what does it take for you to get your jollies Joe? Being an omnipresent mod at several websites?
Anyway you're all bullshit. You're a joke. Countlessly we've posted the EXACT reasons why it's obviously been your doing either in full or in big part. You've responded to fucking none of them. From day 1 with the attack on Aaron and his wife, to day 2 with the racist jokes thread, to moderating an unmoderated forum, to lying about "everyone" wanting it closed- you've obviously had a serious stiffy for getting it shut down- so save your fucking breath.
Add that to a list of Joe's "jollies"- trying to pull the wool over our eyes- as if we can't see this giant jawed goofball from ten miles away.
Give me Fighting Street! I just don't see any reason to close it. You pretty much have to go out of your way to find it, so if you don't like it then stay out of it. Sure, it's not the most popular forum, but it does serve a purpose.
I should take a screen-cap of this moment, because it will be gone in two days.
Quote from: guest on 08/30/2010, 01:22 PMHoly shit, I find myself agreeing 100% with E.R. Is that one of the signs of the coming apocalypse?
It won't be gone, it'll be read-only.
Why the stasis as opposed to an outright deletion if you hate FS so much Joe?
I all of a sudden have the feeling that we got suckered into a performance art piece.
Quote from: blueraven on 08/31/2010, 12:55 AMWhy the stasis as opposed to an outright deletion if you hate FS so much Joe?
Because removing it entirely would make too much sense, and making sense isn't in Joe's toolbox.
"Fighting Street is utterly useless, but let's keep it anyway!"
Don't ask me, I didn't make the call.
Quote from: Joe Redifer on 08/31/2010, 11:23 AMDon't ask me, I didn't make the call.
Yes, Joe. We all know you had nothing to do with Fighting Streets closure in any way, shape, or form.
I've seen no other reason to close this given other than it doesn't "serve a purpose". Why does an internet forum on a website dedicated to old video games need to have some deeper purpose besides just entertainment? I hardly post in here but I find it funny as hell to read, so I wish it would stay. People are just going to post the stuff that was going in here in other places now anyway.
Quote from: Senshi on 08/31/2010, 11:49 AMPeople are just going to post the stuff that was going in here in other places now anyway.
But then Threadlocker McGee will get to moderate it..... which he did in Fighting Street anyway, but that's besides the point.
Now 20 people have voted, and 16 want the forums to stay. Why in the hell are these changes going to be made when 75% of a forum member sample has been made and is 75% against the idea?
Journey through the land of Fighting Street, a once joyful and prosperous thread suddenly thrust deep into an empty abyss of isolation.
Turbo-star, Aaron obviously won't read this, so you should point it out to him.
I did Joe-Redifer. I did.
Quote from: guestYes, Joe. We all know you had nothing to do with Fighting Streets closure in any way, shape, or form.
Pfft, I suggested it long ago. That's no secret. I am saying I had nothing to do with how its being handled now. I did not make the decision to keep it as read-only (nor suggest it). You are jumping to conclusions (which is OK when you do it, but not OK when I do it). I did not make the decision to close the forum, either. Do you really think it'd be in my MO to keep it open to Sept 1?
PS - I do not have the ability to close, lock, move or delete any forum. I can only do that on a thread level.
Quote from: Joe Redifer on 08/31/2010, 05:49 PMI did not make the decision to close the forum, either. I am, however, the public whipping boy.
They aren't saying you made the decision, they are saying your the bug in Aarons ear that got Aaron to close it.
P.S. I really don't care either way.
Aaron does my bidding? That's news to me.
Ah, well. I really should stop responding to posts here because it is a waste of everyone's time to argue back and forth. Aaron's made the decision. If he changes it at any time, then I will abide by it.

Yeah, that's precisely what I'm saying, you obstinate douche. There's certainly no middle ground between him ignoring you completely and him blindly following your orders, now is there?
