Title: RGB-Modded Duos overheating after extended play?
Post by: erik on 08/29/2010, 10:49 AM
I actually have 2 RGB-Modded Duo-R's and both seem to have the same problem  -  After about 1 hour of continuous play, the display tends to 'push white' or 'push red' just enough to where it is noticeable.  I have done a test of this by checking the 'Konami logo' in Dracula X before and after extended play and there is a noticeable difference.  Has anybody else had this problem at all?  If so, let me know of any possible way to fix this.
        Thanks

I think I have just found an answer to my own question:  On any RGB-modded Duo R, It is imperative to the keep the Amp circuit board far enough away from the 'heat sinks' on the upper left corner of the unit.  I tried this today on my unit and played for 90 minutes and it was just fine.  For anyone that has an RGB-modded Duo R(and possibly the other Duos as well) this should come as some helpful advice.  To anyone else, let me know how RGB is treating you!!

I mounted my RGB Amp (and sync splitter) directly behind the HuCard port. Havn't had any issues with extended play. I also have a non-transistor RGB amp installed, which supposedly generates next to no heat compared to the transistor version.
