Title: New member's first post selling rares for eBay prices discussion thread.
Post by: JoshTurboTrollX on 09/07/2010, 12:52 PM
I know its not like, banworthy or even that big of a nuisance to the members here... but.

Is anyone else getting sick of the one and done posters here?  I'm looking at a few posts in the turbografx and pcengine sales threads, where these guys come here and whore their ultra rares, ask for crazy eBay prices then disappear.

Should there be a rule or something?  Maybe a 20 post minimum that can be added to the rules?

I know other forums have a scammers list. For users to avoid members that are ripoff artists, and this isn't really in the same ballpark.

But what the hell?

I agree 100%, I think there should be a "minimum amount of posts" before a member can start selling, even though its quite easy to spot the "one-and-dones". But doing this may open a whole new can of turds

I agree with this statement.  What happens if someones in a hurry to sell something at a good/fair price?  They may not even bother posting their sale at all due to not knowing if it takes 10, 20 or 100 posts for the sales thread to open.  Even if it was posted in the rules that it opens in said amount of posts, then they might just throw in some stupid b/s posts to get their post count up just to sell something.

Granted it's not very often that someone pops in with a super deal to sell off fast, but it does happen.

DigitPress requires I think 1 week as a registered member before you can access the FS boards.
Another forum I'm on requires a number of posts (though the mods there are good at nailing the people that just reply with 'cool' in fifty different threads to bulk up their post count).

Of course there are drawbacks with both. Especially considering it takes some people a week just to get their registration confirmation.

I'm all for placing limitations on people coming here to price gouge, to sell Turbob-less shit, and/or to pimp eBay.  Such twats shall be burnt at the stake and their threads banished to the deepest depths of silicon hell.

I think just a small disclaimer when they sign up.

"Listen asshole, just to make things clear, we're not fucking retards.  If your intentions are to come onto these forums and spread your bullshit eBay price gougingness here you best just click cancel.  Don't insult us.  We are pcengine-fx.com the one site where every longtime member bought Might & Magic III, Beyond Shadowgate, and Dynastic Hero for less than $100 combined.  So take your pimp crazy prices elsewhere!!"

I think we're getting a tad off track here with this witty banter of prosthetic comedy.

What we need to do is figure out a way to get these n00b price gouging fuck farmers to stop this kind of hairy bullshit!

I also propose that any members handle names that start with the letters NEC be permanently changed to Sandal Joe or Douchebag.

I fully support this, however, it's not my site. But perhaps I'll speak with Aaron about it.

I'm tired of sale threads that are just links to ebay; there should be a rule against that.

Seeing that those threads only serve as hype and basically screw anyone out of getting a decent deal, I agree 100%.

Additionally, many of those posts are by the same people being complained about in this thread, so win/win.

While i am not so much bothered by linking to ebay tired of people pver pricing stuff or dont care about the forum just pop in to make money.  I rather not see a noob come in and spam ebay threads to make cash.

maybe there should be like a 2 month evauation period where specifis monitors observe the potential/sellers for a two month period and see how he interacts with the community.  Then after the two months they make a vote and thats it.

This comes directly after chasing them up into the tree of course.
