Title: A$$holes that scare away new members?
Post by: JoshTurboTrollX on 09/08/2010, 03:10 PM
Quote from: exile on 09/08/2010, 02:39 PMI hate that veteran members run off potential new members just on the fact that they try to sell their games. We could use new blood on these forums. Its always the same elitist attitude that shoos people away. Are we not collectors? Are we not gamers? if you had 500 to blow wouldn't you jump at the chance to buy that game or any other desirable product? Lets not throw stones NO ONE here is perfect. We all have flaws and needs. Than man could genuinely need 500 bucks for surgery, car repair or rent. Would we be helping him? That game is SUPER rare not common. Hence, some gamers with money (not C.C's in every situation) are willing to drop down that paper to not waste time or energy hunting down a copy.
I just wish our forum wouldn't be quick to judge someone trying to make a buck. Whats wrong with someone trying to expand their chances of selling a title and earn the most income for any game. Supply and demand people
I get this.  Really I do.  This is the other side of the spectrum.  Like new people see the old timers here as nothing but douche-bag elitists that flame up n00bs.  I do see where this has probably happened, but... does this guy or anyone else notice that just about every other day there is a new thread in the sales forums from members with no posts linking to eBay auctions?

Isn't that getting a little lame?

I won't hold my tongue when someone lies about an item's value in hopes of getting some sucker to bite.

I find people repeatedly pissing and moaning about other forums far more off-putting.  Sure digitpress/neo-geo.com/etc. have their fair share off clowns, but what forum doesn't?

digit press has people who often try to dissuade people from coming here for ignorant reasons.

why not fight fire with fire.

without the ignorance, of course.

There has been quite a few new members join that are genuine,  really interested and glad to be here, and start threads & join in on the talk and free cake and cookies... they do it right and get to know the place and people...  its fucking common sense but people lack that & come strolling into the house full of strangers and setup shop.

I think that they think everyone is drunk like me <<sips wine>> and you wave a rare turbo game in front of us and we piss our pants and clap our hands ready to send paypal :P

That's funny, my definition of A$$hole is "Price Gouger".

New or old, they're a disgrace.

As I mentioned once before in another thread, most of the newer member get what they deserve. Some come on here bucking up against the vets, and that is verily a bad, bad idea. When I first came here, I knew what to expect from reading older threads. I started topics, joined in conversations, and chatted it up in the shout box. All the while keeping my nose clean. Seems to have done me some good, as I'm not hated on. Whether you newer members like it or not, this is THEIR forum. If you can't accept that, perhaps it is time to move on and find another place to set up shop.

Does not matter what people say. Some people are just too stupid to understand. It is like telling a Lemming not to gracefully walk over a cliff. They just keep doing it. So just enjoy.

I am going to get lost in some lemmings now, for a little while.

The fly-by-night price gougers are fine with me because it's fun running them out of town.  What I hate are the endless line of noobs with their "must-be-CIB" WTB threads.  Those fucking brown-nosers hang around for years before showing their true colors, a la geddon_jt or royvegas.

well, I kind of the the CIB thing, as i usually just grab a game off of my shelf, rather than grabbing one of my couple loose hucards.
the same is true for genny games, though i don't care about the manuals there, since they don't act as cover art.

now, if you mean CIB as in with the outer box, then yeah, i feel those things are kind of pointless.
