Title: N64 controller replacement options
Post by: VestCunt on 03/19/2011, 03:04 PM
What can I say, I got a loose stick.   :-"

Are those third party, brand new, "Retro 64" controllers on ebay any good?

My options are:
*New 3rd-party controller on ebay - $7-13
*Order replacement thumbsticks - $20/each on ebay
*Take chances with used 1st party controller
*Buy new first party controller - $$
*Attempt repair of current controllers without buying parts (http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=4925.0 and http://codebook.potchgult.com/stickrepair/stickfix.htm)

Recommendations?

I've got an extra nintendo brand one that's good and tight if you want it.   Let me know!

I've used these replacements and they have been working fine for me.

Depending on where you live finding used replacements can be fairly inexpensive. Check around used game stores and see what they have.

A lot of the retro stores out here won't sell an official stick outside of a system bundle. Stupid if you ask me!
