@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: guest on 10/25/2017, 04:09 PMBuying as an investment deserves outright ridicule.  The vast majority of titles won't have meteoric rises in value like Magical Chase, so any varied collection will fail to keep pace with a decent mutual fund portfolio.
Do people actually need to be told that? We're well past the time when buying vintage video games was a feasible investment.

Quote from: nopepper on 10/24/2017, 04:36 PMWith the prices some of these POS games are going for, I'm leaning towards feeling more retarded for opening/playing them than to simply keeping them hermetically stored and using an everdrive
Why would u feel retarded? Insertion marks aren't even a thing yet. If you're fortunate enough to own all this physical media (401k value), own it. Play the fuck out of those games.
+1

If you're still playing them at least occasionally be merry

I am another old timer that remembers seeing them for $125 and finally bought in. I almost felt sick I paid so much. Still the most I ever spent on one single game, ever!!! You new guys better be getting some air miles or some sorta visa points for your purchases to help make you feel better. :P
Yeah I sold it awhile back. Panic restaurant and $600 I believe it was.

Quote from: Green on 10/23/2017, 11:41 AMWhy get it recapped when he has another to recap?
Isn't one console enough? Put the sealed one on a shelf if you have another one. Only makes sense.
Did you even read the OP?

Quote from: Waverider on 10/21/2017, 06:23 PMThe reason I bought the other Duo was to have a back up in case my original dies on me.
Nowhere in his post did he say "I'm holding this sealed duo to flip later", or "I want to keep it sealed forever".

If meant as a backup system, it has to be recapped. Have you seen all the broken Turbo Duo and PCE Duo threads in the repairs section? Going by failure rate alone, it's safe to say that ALL black Duos must be recapped now, no matter how used they are. A sealed Duo, left untreated, will be destroyed from leaking capacitors, eventually it won't be repairable.
Yeah I know. I've never been one to hold onto boxes for consoles when I come across them but I have a soft spot for the Duo. Kinda cool to see a sealed one. I never have.
#14
Quote from: guest on 10/23/2017, 10:00 AMI'd get it recapped.  You bought it as a backup system for future use (not for future flip value like asshole green suggests), and it'll likely be dead and beyond repair if you wait.
Why get it recapped when he has another to recap?

Keep the sealed one sealed. Its not like someone will buy it and open it. Chances are it will stay sealed forever.
Recap the other and enjoy!

Quote from: Green on 10/18/2017, 08:16 AMYou guys totally hijacked my thread.
Just for that I'm going to ask what the going rate for a PC Engine LT is.
Apparently, according to another thread, it's going for $1000 so I will now expect a member to promptly sell me one at the going rate. Thanks. Shipped by the way. In box preferably.
It got hijacked because it literally can take 5 minutes googling/thread searching to find sold LAs and LTs. Next item is Magical Chase I imagine...
Could you provide some info on magical chase? I was literally about to PM you about it
#17
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 10/18/2017, 03:25 PMThere isn't an LT here for sale. They don't make them anymore. The supply is finite. Even before gouger flipper noobs were a thing and the "retro" scene was 1/10 the size it is now you still only saw an LT for sale here every few years and it was maybe $650 at the absolute cheapest, 10+ years ago. The LT is legit uncommon and awesome. It had an insane original price and I've never seen it for less than that.

The supply of LTs tends to be in the hands of people who don't flip their shit every week so they usually only come up for sale when someone is ready to sell it, like when they die or need to buy a house. It takes a pretty huge ego to think that you can drop into a forum, ask for something, and have it just appear simply because you happen to want it that second. It may have been fucking YEARS since one  changed hands here. We were't genies born just to some day sell you an LT.

I'm pretty sure I was born to hate on a certain category of overly entitled assholes *like* you, but even then, it's not just you. It's hundreds of thousands of you scum.
All jokes aside they are very cool. Do they have AV out?

That was another member that was looking for an LT. I don't have a urge to drop that much cash on it.

Quote from: guest on 10/16/2017, 05:38 PMIt's a standard controller design, but the branding, coloring, and button labels are different.  Functionally it's no different, so you'd only need it (and pay a bunch extra) for collectarding purposes.

You just bought one..... but are unsure what it's worth?  I don't get it.  :-k

The best answer is to list it for a starting bid of $1, cancel the auction just before it ends, then say it's worth ~10% more than the nearly final bid value.
I bought the Turbo PAC with controller and Sega PAC with controller and a bunch of Laseractive games for $850.
I sold the games as I didn't really have any interest in them
#20
Quote from: seieienbu on 10/16/2017, 05:26 PMIsn't it just a standard controller?  Add the two prices together and then you're in the ballpark.
Its a standard turbo duo controller if I remember correctly but has the Pioneer logo on it

This is for the American Turbografx PAC with original controller.

Quote from: Green on 10/11/2017, 08:10 AMAnyone know where I can find a quality Genesis model 2 scart cable?
All the good ones online seem to be sold out and the ones on eBay have bad reviews.

I recently aquired a JVC X'Eye and wanted to use it on my PVM
Its a bit off topic from your question but Green....heed my advice. Please. The info im gonna give you is important. Im not sure which power adapter you are using but I also have an X'Eye. **DO NOT**. I repeat....**DO NOT****** use ANY Genesis ac adapter or NES power adapter with the system. It may fit...yea...it may boot the system....but the voltage specs are way off. You will destroy the system. Only a Sega CDX or original JVC(both are identical)have the correct specs. You can also get the correct spec one on ebay or amazon.

The other issue is the CD part. Is it working ok? If the cds don't spin i know what is wrong. Its not the laser(usually).
Good to know. I have a OEM plug
#25
So is someone going to sell him one or not?

Seems he REALLY wants one...

I'll take into consideration all the recommendations

Quote from: Otaking on 02/08/2017, 01:39 PMNon paying bidders I find depends on what country the bidder is from, I found that bidders from specific countries are much, much more likely to back out from following through with payment.
At one point I was getting so many from one specific country I just had to close my auctions to that country which I really didn't want to do.
Bidders from USA and UK I found very, very rarely didn't follow through with payment, it happened around 1 in 500-1000 transactions.
But yes Green's auctions are very suspicious and also why didn't he offer second chance offers to the next highest bidders in the original auction? that is normally what happens in the rare occurrence the highest bidder backs out.
Of course I offered this. I find people usually don't buy it if they are given a second chance. Just my experience.

Define pretty common. I've had it happen maybe 2-3 times over the course of 500+ online sales. That's less than 1%.
You're pretty lucky. Happens to me probably 1 out of every 50 or 60 sales. Maybe not pretty common but it happens.
