I am working on Paprium at the moment.  I have hit a bug trying to 100% it so I have to figure out why.

Wow what a story!!!  I'm glad his basement floods with his neighbors shit (literally) and his girlfriends kids from another dude give him shit and zero respect.  His real life sucks, take comfort in that.

The Hunt for Red October.  Damn good movie.  They handle the language barrier pretty good even though Connery still has a thick Scottish accent.

My model 1 works perfectly and I've never had an issue.  It also hooks up to a Model 1 genesis which has the best sound.

It's been a while since I posted but Photobucket finally caved last May so I think hosting is free again.  Let's hope it stays that way.

Just got back from Vegas and visited a nice game store that also had a small arcade.  Good game selection albeit small.  This fighting game ain't bad, lots of great moves and varied characters.  Colors could be better, seems a bit washed out for my tastes but it appears to just be a styling choice.

IMG
I had the Sharp Twin for a while but got me two Monitors; they take Composite, S-Video, and RGB.  Score.  Built in speaker too and also a pass through.

Some random pickups out in Philly, always need more Neo Geo bags, this is my 2nd one.  Turbo MVS controller is absolutely necessary for Viewpoint.  My fingers almost fell off and you have to switch between turbo and not for charge shots.  This game is impossible.

IMG
Pickups from Sage Mantis in VA, I 100% completed Super Metroid and I am convinced it is a perfect game.  What a masterpiece.  Lester not so much.  The Green cart on the left is MOTW for the MVS.

Got the power.

Nice Craigslist finds.  The Game Gear stuff was so cheap like $5 a game.  I was so lucky.

IMG

This thing was nuts.  It was like $10,000 brand new. I just paid $50 for it from some old lady who has hundreds of games in her garage.  Also picked up two Namco guns and Point Blank for the PS1 as well as Time Crisis.    You hook it up to an XBOX/XBOX 360 PS2/PS3 or any PC via USB and it simply makes you sweat bullets.  I played NFS most wanted on it and you are so sore afterwards, very responsive and amazing.

I will miss going there as a child with a fist full of Jeffery Dollars and getting a Game Boy or a Game Gear or a giant Super Soaker.  Tragic

Quote from: NightWolve on 12/19/2017, 11:47 AMWow! How did the garage fire start ?
Long story, but it was some ashes from the fireplace that were dumped in the garbage can in the garage, which smoldered and melted the can, and the recycling bin next to it that was full of paper and card board.

Next to that, were two Rubbermaid containers.  One was full of EGM, Gamepro and Famitsu magazines from the 90s.  All my 80's Transformers toys were in the other container.  :(  I had just dug them out of my parents attic the weekend prior.

And next to THAT was a gas can full of gas, a few quarts of M.E.K (Methyl Ethyl Ketone - extremely flammable), and various aresols of starting fluid, carburetor cleaner, brake cleaner, WD-40 etc, varnish, etc...

My wife's Trek mountain bike turned into a pool of melted aluminum on the floor, except for the chain and sprockets.
Wow, a really what not to do.

I lucked out with buying my house in 2009 during the bottom.  It's worth twice what I paid for it and is easy to maintain.  I put a new roof over it and just keep at it.  Excellent learning experience.

It's here!! My copy of Surgical Strike for the Sega CD 32X has finally arrived after a long trip from Brazil. A custom reproduction by VGDB Brazil, this comes with a glossy hard box to hold everything, a pressed CD of the 32X version of the game (which was only released in Brazil), plus instruction manual, poster and an info/history card.
Except for a tear in the top of the box which was covered up by a sticker, production quality looks great. The game ISO was also released by the person who made these repros, but I've been waiting for the full release to try it out and compare video quality against the regular SegaCD one.
VERY cool, have a link to get one???

Quote from: EvilEvoIX on 06/19/2017, 09:25 AMCongrats on your purchase but realize that a MVS to AES converter plus a BIS chip would be your best bet to play true Neo Hardware.  I started collecting for this system in 2002 and sold it all in 06 just to buy it all again after some nut on ebay was selling 12 NOS launch games for $22 a piece shipped.  I will never sell my Neo stuff again, keep an eye, games can fall in your lap if you are patient.

Otherwise MVS to AES converter, Bios Mod, and Multicart would be your best bet.

P.S. what serial number is it?
Is there any reason you don't recommend the NeoSD over a converter+multicart? My understanding of the multicarts is that a lot of the games on them are boots and hacks. It seems like having original ROMs would be better than what is found on the multicart. Plus, I know that converter isn't cheap (not that anything NG is cheap).
Converter is a must as MVS games are still $15-$100 for most good games.  I just bought Waku Waku 7 loose for $50, look up the AES price.

The Neo SD is almost $500 Shipped then you have to load the roms when a decent multicart has 60-80 proper games on it plus its well under $100 shipped.  That's a  $400 swing.  My Multicart has a ton of good games and some fun Boots or hacks as well.

Well Last Blade is one of the worst loading games there is besides KOF 99 but as I had mentioned the CDZ fixes a lot of loading issues.  I let Classic Game Room borrow my CDZ for a review to show the loading times.

I hear your point but even the top loader loads ok.  I use the cdz which is on par with the PS1 in terms of load times.

I had a few pickups these last few months and figured I'd update my finds.

Famicom Classic.  Essentially the same exact thing as the NES classic but readily available so anyone looking for a NES Classic should get this.  Slightly different games but everything is playable, Mega Man is Rock Man, Zelda still in English.  It has two hard wired MINI controllers and they are TINY.  Some games like Metroid & Zelda actually go through the Famicom Disc System and have loading screen and the extra audio sounds.  I also bought the Disc System Stand that is essentially a drawer.

Metal Slug 2.  Absolutely better than X after a recent play though.  I am thinking of having it modded to reduce the slowdown.

I was away for work a week back and on a whim I searched for an Arcade or a classic game store and right in the heart of Philadelphia is a place called Barcade.  Its name says it all.  Basically a hipster bar loaded with classic video game arcade machines.  Beers were nice a reasonably priced and the machines run on tokens.  So many machines and so many people there Saturday Night, I spent my time playing Samurai Shodown II.  Next time I'll play around a bit.

The fact that I had two was amazing since just finding one was almost unthinkable.  Yes having a second controller is nice as well.  Also any navigation on the site was slow and I figured if I wasted any more time I'd lose out.  It was 30 mins of non stop buy it now button hammering on both my PC and cell phone.  I just ended up with 2.
But what are you doing to do with the second one?

My question is "Why even 1?" The cute factor? What is the appeal? Granted I'd buy a TurboGrafx-16 mini but then again that thing isn't oversaturated to hell and back like the NES is.
I think it is absolutely worth $59.99.  Now with the modding you can have all the NES games in a cute HDMI bundle with save states.  It brings the casual gamer a complete NES experience once reserved for only the most die hard gamers or those heavily into the emulation scene (I stated with my Dreamcast as an emulator).  The software and the presentation is very nice, I'm a fan at $59.99, just not at scalping.  Again getting 2 was pure luck.

I've had some luck recently and would like to share my pickups.

Metal Slug 2, loose; found a seller in Mexico who gave me a deal I could not refuse.  This is the only Slug I have not played through or owned.  Most Neo Geo Collectors argue that this version is indeed better than Slug X and possibly the best in the series.  It does have a ton of slow down but I may look into having it modded to reduce the slow down.  It's a good one no doubt.
IMG

KOF 99, this game has a lot of nostalgic value as it was in a MVS 2 slot at my college along with Samurai Showdown II.  I've had the MVS cart for years never thought I'd get the AES copy let alone for a killer price.  This is my new Favorite AES game it is so balanced yet so challenging.  The backgrounds changing between the rounds and the level of detail make this a top ten AES game for me.
IMG
IMG
IMG
IMG

Slug X, it was $40, can't go wrong.  All I need now is Slug 5 to complete my MVS Metal Slug Collection
IMG
IMG

Two NES Classics.

Why 2?  Trying to get just one is almost impossibly unless you deal with a scalper who has stacks of them and asking crazy prices for what amounts to be a (very good) emulation machine.

On the Facebook gaming groups someone posted a tip that BestBuy would make the NES Classic available at 12:00PM Central time.  I had my Bestbuy page up on my PC and cellphone, both logged in and on the NES Classic page ready to "Buy it Now".  1PM eastern hits and sure enough they are available.  I click buy it now both on my cell phone and my PC and.....  Nothing; it just spins and spins and times out.  I try again and again until I get one in my cart, trying to check out constantly provides errors and you cannot add the NES classic to the basket.

I am hammering incessantly on both my Cell Phone and my PC until; somehow, my PC shows that I have 2 in my basket.  This is after 30 MINS of timing out futility which I imagine is everyone trying to do the same.  Got them for $59.99 each and free shipping.  Thanks BestBuy!
IMG
IMG

I got to say that this thing rules.  I love the save states.  I played through Mega Man 2 and it feels great, great picture and sound and the controllers feel authentic.  I may mod it soon to get the entire NES library.  I would not pay scalper prices, at least not over $100.
