@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

In general you want to meet or exceed the original voltage rating. The original 50v may have been over specced and you might be fine. You could use a multi meter and check the voltage on that cap. If it's over 35v you would want to change it.

Always good to see a Memento reference.  I need to watch that movie again; haven't seen it since it came out.  I always felt it was the type of movie I couldn't watch a second time but lately I've been thinking differently.

He did. Then he burnt his bridge by acting like a cunt to him and the. Threw him under the bus publicly.

Kev's response was pretty much "whatever" and left it at that.
Mark Thomann wasn't even in the picture then.

Wow.  I'm kind of shocked to see this finally come to an end.  Maybe shocked is the wrong word.  I feel kind of unfulfilled in the ending of the once great RetroVGS with hard drive cartridges and the ability to play everything.

Some will claim this as an elaborate joke or worse a scam to cheat people.  I feel like Mike truly believed in this thing.  Which has left me dumbfounded.  After all this time and "lessons learned" the only think they accomplished was Jaguar shells.

Honestly the thought has never even occurred to me.  This may not be the place for this but what would be the benefits?  I'm guessing rusty staples can deteriorate paper over time?

Yeah I see that.  I've always thought the duo design was heavily inspired by the briefcase set up.

Great work. Really nice case work.  Now make it glossy like Ninja16608's.

Honestly I had always heard that Doujindance did poor mod work.  IIRC his stuff has shown up in that messy mod work thread that was inspired by drakon.

I'm glad you got it working again!  I have a soft spot in my heart for rehab units.

Ahh.  There's your mistake right there.  Everyone on this forum is at least twice as ignorant and three times as disrespectful as Nully.  Nully's just a harmless drunk.  The rest of us are truly mean spirited.

Haha.  Interesting read.  Without knowing much of the back story here it certainly seems that Kai guy is in the wrong.  Either way I think it's pretty deplorable to claim a game as yours and sell it while having stolen graphics in it.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/28/2015, 05:44 PMThis is my point.  Which I feel Ian and Pat did a poor job of discussing.
I'm not so sure you read me correctly then.  Going back to your original post/point; I wasn't agreeing that Ian is wrong.  Nor trying to prove him right for that matter.
Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/28/2015, 05:44 PMFrankly I view it as self censorship as Capcom made the choice to remove objectable content then on that bases alone it is a form of self censorship.
I'm not so sure.  I've personally not read any facts about why this was removed.  I've read lots of theories but I've not seen any proof that this was removed because it was objectionable.  If capcom changed it because they wanted: to alter the art direction, to change the characters persona, alter how players perceived her, make the character more serious etc.  I would argue that it wasn't censorship.  It's just changes during development.  Only if they removed it to please someone else , ie not capcom, then it would be censorship.  Be that users, ratings board, overly PC media etc.
Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/28/2015, 05:44 PMTake another fighter that posed similar censorship. When mortal combat and DC had their cross over. The joker was to have a finishing move that DC requested was removed as their character where on a no fatalities list.

But we all saw beta footage of the fatality prior.

And the fatality remained but the "death" part had the camera pan away to Joker thus leaving the death ambiguous.

Then we saw that same fatality recycled and restored in the break away hit MK9.

To me that was a form of self censorship that occurred during beta that to my knowledge was something. Both gamers, developers, and gaming journalist agreed and stated was censorship.
This is different though.  DC wanted the content removed and so Midway obliged and censored it.  There is no evidence that this is what happened here.  At least not that I'm aware of.  It's quite possible it was done to appease the ESRB or the overly PC but there is no evidence of it.

Quote from: geise on 11/28/2015, 04:10 PM...if it gets taken out of the US version...
That's not what's happening though.  At least as far as I understand it.  There isn't going to be a Japanese "ass slap" version and a US "no slap" version.  During development there was a decision to remove the ass slap.  I don't personally know why the decision was made; I'm not following the SF5 development.

Ian's argument seems to be that this is just part of the development process and not censorship.  If you are a game dev and for your own reasons decide to cover some skin up or remove some blood during beta is that censorship?  If your game has an open beta and people can see the change does that make it censorship?

Quote from: SamIAm on 11/24/2015, 11:03 PMI don't want to discourage you, but if you're looking to actually understand the stories in some of these Japanese games, you need to come to grips with certain realities, and set realistic goals for yourself.....
So much truth in this post.  I can't tell you how long it will take you because the amount of time we can devote to something like this varies greatly.  With a full time job and a full time family I don't get to study enough per day to reach fluency any time soon.  With about 600 kanji and a couple thousand vocab under my belt.  And what I would figure to be an intermediate grammar knowledge there are still large portions of JRPG story line that I just can't come to grips with.

It's funny, I think SamIAm pulled that 30% out of thin air, but I would say that's pretty close to accurate.  I can understand about 30% of the story line.  Sometimes less.  Even when I know most or all the kanji in a bit of dialogue it can be a struggle to get actual meaning from it.  I've been pretty proud of myself in solving some puzzles in games.  I remember one in a dungeon crawler that required my knowledge of Solfege, Do Re Mi Fa So, and Music all while reading Japanese.  I was pretty proud of myself and my Japanese progress at the time.  But I still wouldn't say I can sit down with a Japanese rpg and just enjoy it.

At my current rate I would guess it'll take me another 5 years before I can just sit down and enjoy a Japanese rpg.  And even then I'm only assuming about 80% to 90% total comprehension.  There is still the odd uniquely Japanese stuff you'll run into that throws you for a loop.  Some game I was playing had this bit of dialog that all of a sudden started to talk about belly buttons.  Since it was so odd I couldn't make heads or tells of it.  Eventually I heard from a native speaker it's what we would call an old wives tail.  According to that native speaker the saying was something along the lines of "if you sleep with your belly button exposed you'll get sick."

But yeah set realistic goals.  Your progress will be fairly quick at first and it will feel great.  You'll go from understanding nothing to menus then to items and status stuff and eventually basic dialog then story elements. It'll all happen pretty fast and feel great.  And you may start to tell yourself "another couple months and I should be able to understand most of this" or "another year and I'll be ready play anything."  But your going to get to a point, some call it a plateau, where learning another 100 kanji is only going to increase your understanding from say 20% to maybe 22% and learning another set of grammar points is only going to take you from 22% to 25%.  When you reach this point don't get discouraged.

Just picked it up... it has a built in multitap, a 4/8 switch and it is programmable. Although I don't have instructions atm so still trying to figure that bit out...
This is for pc-98.  You plug it into your computer's keyboard port and then plug your keyboard into the other side of the controller plug.  Then you can program the keys on the gamepad to any keyboard keys.  I really do want to pick one of those up for my PC-9821CE.

HAHA! someone backed this for $1 three hours ago.  From what I understand of IGG you can't cancel a campaign once it's made any money.  It would be hilarious if they got everyone to ask for a refund but that $1 pledge stayed until the very end.
#32
Fun game.  Good show all around.  Congrats to the winner.  See you all again for round 2!
#33
Looks like it just took another decent hit.  Down to $63,925.  I don't think you can cancel an indiegogo campaign after someone pledges.

That's understandable.  I'm still looking forward to buying one.  I know it's kind of a novelty but I really want an HDMI Frontloader hooked up the the main tv.

I lost any shred of respect I had for any of the RVGS guys when I watched that video.

"Power goes into our system, and out from our system we get high resolution digital and analog video"

I mean who the fuck does this guy think he's talking to.  This must be their three point system development play:

            .  No patches and scratches
.  Power goes in; High resolution video goes out.

Wow this thing is moving backwards.  I've never seen such.  I wonder if they are feeling that cold hard reality now or if they are still delusional.

Quote from: Opethian on 09/22/2015, 03:09 PMI don't get it how can this be retro unless they build a time machine?
Throwing a time machine into the mix I don't see how anything can be retro.  If you brought something to the future it would just be old.  If you brought something to the past it would be futuristic.

That's actually the one thing they got right.  A modern console that uses cartridges, like the old days, and looks like an Atari Jaguar, from the old days, fit's the very definition of retro.  An actual Atari Jaguar for instance is not retro.

All that said this whole thing is a steaming pile of crap.  Except you know it doesn't exist so more so the steam then the actual crap itself.
#39
No prob.  Actually just looked up the crowdcharts data.  There were 34 backers on the 20th.  Compared to 131 on the 19th and 5 so far on the 21st.  UTC time.

IMO a best case scenario would have them maintain this lethargic pace until one final big push at the end.  If this occurs it just may hit around my initial prediction.  With a real nice push at the end the victory may actually go to me.  Or more likely in true "Price is Right" fashion ToyMachine78 will be the closest without going over.

A more likely scenario will have them maintain this current pace or slightly less till the end with no real boost at the end.  And this race is going to be between JohnnyKonami and ToyMachine78.

Of course it could further stagnate...

I think there are enough collectards and people drinking the kool-aid to get a decent amount of money.  But it won't be the 7000 install base they are hoping for.  My vote is $523,251.  Which by my estimations is a little over 1200 people backing at an average of a little over $400.

Quote from: guest on 09/12/2015, 01:44 PMPlease explain the formula which determines the value of a sealed game compared to a CIB game.
I think you are simply forgetting about the "collectard Variable."  So the formula is something like this:

(((g + c) * 2cv) + fe) * gr = Cost of sealed game.

Variables:
g =  Cost of reasonable condition game to reasonable person.
c = Added cost for above reasonable condition with everything that originally came with the game.
cv = Collectard Variable, or the supposed value of a game by someone who has to have em all and they all have to be collectible.
fe = Flippers expenses
gr = current rate of gauge
