Almost 30 Years Later, Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood Is Coming To TurboGrafx-16
Rondo of Blood on original hardware? Can't beat that

Quote from: KotakuE3 2021 has been a great time for folks with modern consoles, but what if you stopped upgrading in 1992? Well, this is for you: Limited Run Games is releasing the original TurboGrafx-16 version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood in America for the very first time. No release date yet, but the boutique publisher said the game is "coming soon" during today's surprise reveal.

What is Castlevania: Rondo of Blood?

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, perhaps better known by its Japanese title of Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo or just Dracula X, was released in 1993 for Japan's PC Engine CD, what we know in the states as the TurboGrafx-CD. It's long been considered one of the best Castlevania games of all time. Although it features mostly linear, level-based gameplay akin to earlier installments, Rondo of Blood is actually a direct prequel to 1997's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the PlayStation hit that first introduced Metroidvania-style gameplay to the franchise.

After remaining exclusive to Japan for over a decade, Rondo of Blood eventually made it to the West in 2007 as part of the PlayStation Portable's Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles collection, which included both a new polygonal remake and the original TurboGrafx game as a secret unlockable. This provided fans the opportunity to play Rondo of Blood with an official English translation for the first time. The game appeared on PlayStation 4 as well, bundled with Symphony of the Night in 2018's Castlevania Requiem compilation.

Super Star Soldier is a great game too.  I had that one as a kid actually.
#4
Titles says it all.  Also have some Turbo stuff for trade too.  TIA

Best shooter on the system?  Just might be.

Are you looking for an original copy or repo?
#7
I enjoy a little rim job from the wifey from time to time.

Welcome aboard.  What shooters do you currently have or at the very least what are your top 3?  What shooters do you need?  I am a proud owner of an original Sapphire CIB.  Bought it off this forum.  You need the Arcade Card for that one though.

Quote from: tbone3969 on 10/18/2018, 03:11 PMI don't think the controllers are 8 bitdo for this.  They aren't bluetooth but 2.4 Ghrz or some shit.
From their webpage:
"You can finally play Sega wirelessly and lag-free with 8BitDo's high quality retro M30 controller. We partnered up with 8BitDo to offer matching controllers for Mega Sg, including a wireless 2.4g receiver at discounted price."

I don't see a USB connector anywhere in their mocks (other than for power), so I'm assuming the receiver will connect to the controller port and will be compatible with OEM consoles. It'll be interesting to see if that is the case and if so, how this will compare performance and price wise to Krikzz wireless controller offering.

Quote from: tbone3969 on 10/18/2018, 03:11 PMAlso, what do you like better the OSSC or Framemeister?
I generally prefer the OSSC as it just looks better (the colors in particular) and introduces no lag, so it feels more like playing on a CRT to me. It also has VGA input (missing from FM), so you can connect your DC and output a digital HDMI signal.

On the flip side, some of its modes (such as 5x) have incompatibility issues with some displays when paired with certain consoles (mainly SNES), although thankfully, not with any of my monitors or tvs. It's also missing an SVideo input and 480i deinterlacing is lacking in comparison to the Framemeister (although you are probably better off letting your TV do this instead of an upscaler/FM or line doubler/OSSC).

I currently only use the Framemeister for PSP, as it does a decent job of zooming the tiny component input screen that console provides. The FM can cover pretty much any console you throw at it and you will know it will be compatible with your display. There are also profiles you can download that makes system specific setting changes at the flip of a remote controlled button a snap. The OSSC also has memory settings, but you have to do the setup yourself (AFAIK). The OSSC seems to work better OOTB, with less tinkering then the FM, so this last issue is mostly a mute point, at least to me.

You really can't go wrong with either, but if you can live without SVideo support and/or zooming features, I'd say go for the OSSC. It is also cheaper, so there's that...
Thanks for all the info.  I will be going with the OSSC it seems when/if I get the urge to splurge.

Quote from: nopepper on 10/18/2018, 01:37 PMI think it's great that one of the greatest consoles ever is finally getting some FPGA love and open up its awesome library to a new generation of hipsters/gamers. Just like with the Super NT, I don't need this, as I have multiple CRTs, an OSSC and a Framemeister, but I really do applaud this offering.

With that said, I am very excited about finally being able to buy a wireless dongle for the Genesis, as I love 8bitdos implementation for the NES and SNES. Now, we just need one for the PCE and all will be good in the world.
I don't think the controllers are 8 bitdo for this.  They aren't bluetooth but 2.4 Ghrz or some shit.

You can even hook it up to a real Sega CD!!!

Plus analogue stereo out jack in the front.

Just take my money already.

Wow, all those great NEC systems all on PVMs.  So sweet.  And that MXS-2 looks interesting.  Never even knew that existed.  You can use a Genesis controller on it?
#22
Hello.  Anyone have good pics or scans of the front and back inserts for Sylphia?  TIA
#23
I sold my 3.0 Card after I realized I could just use my Everdrive instead.
#24
Dam dude, those are some great finds/trades.  I would not wait to have the DUO re-capped.  I would get it done ASAP but that's just me.  Are you sure the sound works properly when playing a CD game?  That will be the first thing to go.

I am also interested in the sealed World Sports Competition.  What are you looking for in trade these days?
#25
The hunger is real and I am famished.
#26
I have owned most of the variations at one time or another and my favorite is by far the JVC X'eye.  If you plan on using the 32x then the X'eye will not work so I'd go with the model one Genesis and the Model one Sega CD in that case.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 09/07/2018, 11:49 AMCan't play burned games on CDX. Solution. Okay original copies of games. Lol
Not true.  I play CDR games on it all the time.

Hit me up if you have any for sale.

Thank you.

Quote from: guest on 02/14/2017, 03:09 PMI thought they were supposed to come that way.  lol.

but I guess nobody ever bothered to go do a press run since they just started making it rain with Tobias bootlegs.
The eventual goal is still to do a pressing of a game choice that will be voted on.  But for the time being we've been distributing Tobias spools of bootleggery as a way to build up some funds to get the pressing done.

Hopefully, it's not too far off from that goal...
Any update on this?  This would be rad.  TIA

Wow you have a nice collection.  What's your favorite system to collect for?  It seems you have many.  What's your most valuable game?
#35
I threw away a copy of Landstalker CIB for Genesis because I didn't like the cover.  I traded a Gaea's Cradle (MTG card) for the new hot card at the time.  They were both worth roughly $20.  Now the Cradle is over $200 and the other card is less than a dollar.
#36
It's the bad moves you made, or in this case didn't, that you always remember.

Sure.  I have three.  Let me just dig them out of my closet for ya.

Nice system.  Wish I could afford it.

I see.  I thought the PC Engine version of Splatterhouse was more sought after because he looks like Jason and there are crosses in it.
#41
Is it uncensored maybe?  Kinda like why Splatterhouse goes for more on the PC Engine.

Quote from: guest on 03/26/2018, 03:49 PMI was just talking based on collectard's preference for bootlegs.

Sure enough it's true:

Quote from: Keith Courage on 03/02/2018, 02:54 PMI thought the care 4 data and the newer pce Works version were the only ones.
I second this.  I just bought one for $720 that looks super legit.  I certainly hope there are no other fakes floating around.

Don't go to eBay.  Ask Keith Courage.  He's on here somewhere.  Sells the best recapped DUOs for a great price.  He also does great mod work and is very reasonable with his pricing.
