I've been trying to play Zeroigar on an emulator, but I never owned a real PC-FX and don't know what the real display looked like.

Googling shows that it had a resolution of 256x240 or 341.333 (=1024/3) x240.  Mednafen when I run it with a scale of 1 claims to be using 288x232 video mode.  I ran it with an xscale and yscale of 4 and it has 4x that mode, but it seems to be producing oval planets and oval explosions.

Does Mednafen already scale it properly according to aspect ratio, (so further scaling it by a constant 4 is enough), or do I need to use a different X and Y value to make it look like what people would see on an actual 4:3 TV?  Are those planets and explosions supposed to be round?

Guests are Victor Ireland and the former head of Hudson Soft.  I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it's very heavily Turbografx-centered and includes a lot of material that even long time fans have not already heard hundreds of times.

I have an extra copy of this Japanese Playstation game (a DDR clone featuring some obscure to us band) with no manual.  I'll trade it for a TG-16 common that I don't have with manual and jewel case (note: I don't have most sports games).

I didn't think I sucked at shmups that badly, but I can't even get all the way to the end of level 1 in this game.  Is it just insanely difficult or am I missing something important?

(Is that why it has unlimited continues and password saves, because they only expect people to make it all the way through very rarely?)

Basically the obvious questions:
1) What would I expect to pay for one?  (I have the separate CD system so I would need a Pro)  rakuten has one for $40, but they don't seem to be anywhere near as much a bargain for items in this price range as for cheap items.
2) What games for it are reasonably decent and reasonably cheap?  Ports are of less interest since it's easy to get them on other systems, but if really cheap, I may consider them.  I do already have a Sapphire bootleg.  I don't know Japanese much past being able to read kana.
3) What games might I want to burn a CD for, but could probably not buy for oh, $25 or less?  (I have the PSX Strider, so I don't need a port of that.)

Attempting to use a 6 button PCE pad on a TG-16.

It turns out there's an existing cable that by pure chance happens to have the correct 8 pin DIN and mini-DIN plugs (it also requires a F/F gender changer).  It was an interesting theory, and I was hoping that the pinouts on a DIN and mini-DIN were standardized enough that it might work, but it doesn't.

Hacking the cable is beyond my expertise, though I'd be curious if anyone has tried it.

With questions about translations and ports and such, surely something like this would be a worthwhile project and much more feasible than translating a whole game.  Has anyone managed to do it?

(And while you're at it, hack it to fix the censored translation... Klispins indeed.)

The listing for these on www.pcengine.co.uk claims that even though Custom is on CD, it's inferior to the card version.  What did they change that makes this a bad version?

Edit: whoops, I saw that the review for Daisenpuu mentions cutting areas and graphics.  Though I'm puzzled as to why that would even happen.  (And what is "custom" about the CD version?)

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but searching for "English" isn't going to be very useful.  Anyway, I'm not thinking so much of games that are in Japanese but still playable, but games that really are mostly in English including story segments, item shop text, endings, and such.  I was surprised to read in another thread that Cotton has an English option, and I know that Carmen Sandiego has English, and that the Darius games are in English.

I bought a copy of the game from ebay.  Turned out the case was the wrong case (it was actually Dungeon Explorer).  I convinced the guy to refund a small amount of the price, but now I need to find a real case.  Does anyone have one for cheap (and/or that they'll trade for a Dungeon Explorer case)?
