My  brother- in-Law gave me his xbox 360.  He isn't much of a gamer and gave me a stack of worthless sports titles along with it.  In the stack was Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock.

I really don't know much about the system I have never had an xbox console before.  The system does work and I played Bio shock for a bit.  I don't think he used it in over four or five years.  I have a couple of questions for any owners of this system.

How important is an internet connection and microsoft account for this system?  I have no interest in any multiplayer games (I assume the multiplayer community is dead since there is the xbox One now).  Does this thing have wireless internet or is it Cat5 cable connection only?  Being a Microsoft product, I assume a lot of games need patches.

Any must have games?  Not looking to spend a lot of money on expensive chase rare titles but quality games that I can pick up on the cheap.  Platformers and shooters are my go-to games.

Just some random pics of the event and vendor hall.  Just thought I would share.  Since when did the price on Splatterhouse 3 get bat shit insane??

I know I may be late to the party with this question, but i just got a new iPod.  I know the data of these games are on track 2 if my memory still serves me, and track 1 is the warning that the disc is not an audio disc.

What about the rest of the tracks?

You guys see these out at Wendy's, PDQ, and other restaurants?  I hate them.  The soda is so watered down it taste horrible.  I really don't think I need 115 different flavor combinations.

Not only the taste is bad, but old fucks are totally confused by them.  They have no idea how to operate them and I've seen a few call the cashier out form behind the counter to assist them get their soda...  Then you got the kids who want to put a little of every fucking flavor in the same cup, only to take one sip and spit it out.

Now Pepsi is starting to get in on the action with them.  I just saw the first Pepsi one at one of those newer personal pan pizza places.  Yeah, the soda out of it is just as watered down as the Coke machine...

I'm at the point now that whenever I see them, I usually just order a water.  Especially in downtown Chicago since they just passed the new beverage tax, which is another rant in and of itself.

Just saw this today on reddit.  I know a lot of regulars here attend each year.  Looks like a much larger venue.

I'd love to get the stage select music off of Lords of Thunder as my ring tone.  Has anyone done this with a CD game or even a HuCard?

I'm using a Galaxy S7 if that makes any difference.

Was at the VGS here in Chicagoland today.  Got smoked by Dan and the rest of the gang in the Battle Loadrunner tournament today.

Thought I would share some pics with ya'll.  Prices on on retro stuff continues to amaze me.  I doubt there will ever be a crash, but I do think there will be a market 'correction' or some kind of reset for some of these titles.  Quite a bit of TG16/PCE stuff for sale...much more than was at the Midwest Gaming Classic.

Anyway here they are:

EDIT:  Photobucket problems.

EDIT2:  Lets try this again.

I still don't have one.  I know there are some threads on this somewhere on here.  Where is the best place to buy one?  Is there any major differences between the first one and the version 2?

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB PC Engine console.

Looking for the original PC Engine console.  It must work and be in very good condition with no yellowing.  I don't need the AC adapter or RF switch.

Let me know if you have a spare unit laying around.

Was at the Midwest Gaming Classic yesterday.  Met a few of the forum members while I was there....Braap, Chop, Dragon Master Dan, and the guy who came up from North Carolina....sorry I didn't catch your name, but it was great chatting with you!

It was a little early on Saturday when these were taken, but the room filled up in the afternoon.

Braap showed me this repro of Magical Chase while I was there.  A lot of love when into designing and creating it - a very high quality repro that anyone would love to have in their collection!

I didn't catch the lady's name who was wearing this shirt, but she let me take a photo of it to share with all of you.

This may be a little off topic, but they had that recently discovered Sony Super Nintendo CD system on display.  Got a few pics of that as well.

And below is the most expensive game that I saw in the vendor area.
IMG

Id say there was a stronger presence of PCE/Turbo games in the vendor area this year as opposed to last year.  Some of the games seemed to be priced a bit much...  Saw complete in case copies of Splatterhouse and Devils Crush going for $100.00 each.  A sealed Neutopia 2 going for $270.00.  I was hoping to find a used copy w/instructions while I was there.  :(  I spent my money on other gaming stuff which I'll put in the recent pickups thread later on today.  Overall, I had a great time!

Looking to sell my PC Engine LT as I hardly ever play it.  It is complete in box with the instructions, blue baggie, Styrofoam packing, and original AC adapter.

*All capacitors were changed out by form member Chop about a year ago.
*Sound is nice and loud.
*Screen brightness adjustment works perfectly.
*No dead pixles.  No scratches on the screen.
*I have a spare Official PC Engine AC adapter that is included.   (not shown)
*box does show minor shelf wear

The screen looks much better in person that the photos show - better color depth and brightness  (my camera isn't the greatest under florescent lights).  I'll be at the Midwest Gaming Classic next weekend if anyone wants to see it in person as I can bring it along.

I'm asking $925.00 which is what I have in it.  I'd like to see this go to a member here before I put it on ebay.

*Batman game is not included*

I'm getting tired of the old milk and cereal routine and I'm looking for new ideas...

Typical morning for me includes a bowl of cereal, 8oz of orange juice, and a travel mug of coffee for the road to work in the morning.

Work has me driving all over Wisconsin this week and I stopped by a pawn shop that carries games.  They had two used original X-box systems there.  Both were used and only one came with the composite audio/video cable and a controller.  Both were marked $23.99 even the one without the AV cable and controller.  Both looked well used and one had some deliberate scratching across the front of it.  No clue if they worked or not and the employees didn't know either.

I don't know much about these systems, but do know there are people out there who fix em`.  I was told you can mod them to run emulators on them.  The scratches could be fixed by buying a while new shell for it.

I passed on both...  I could go back there tomorrow if I finish with my customer earlier, but its a two hour drive back there.
#14
Has anyone done this?  I think you have to skip the first two tracks, but everything else should work.  Anyone ever try it?
#15
Bought the system yesterday but didn't get any games for it.  I plan on buying the Castlevania game for it when I get a chance.  Any other good titles out there that you would recommend?

This one looks fun.  Thought I wold mention it here since we all love Alien/Devil's Crush.
#17
I just saw a long play of this on youtube.  Looks like a fun shooter and I wouldn't mind having a copy in my collection, but I saw in the video comments that the game goes for over 600.00.  A quick ebay search doesn't show any except for a repo cart that was $99.99.

Why is it rare?  Low production count?  One of the last games out of the gate for the system?  A hundred bucks for a repo cart seems outrageous, but I would be open to owning the repo for a reasonable price.

I don't know much on what is rare on the Megadrive.

Just was thinking about this the other day.  I've got a few gems in my collection and have spent some serious money the past 15+ years.   The wife is basically clueless as the the value of it all and isn't a gamer by any means.  Same for my parents/sister & brother in-law.

If something happens to me, I just don't want my collection dumped on ebay for pennies on the dollar.  The wife has suggested taking pictures of it all and putting it in a word document on what the expensive games are so she could recover some of the investment.

I guess i must be getting older since I'm starting to think about this kinds of stuff.  At least I'm not 40 yet....

Anyone else have the same concerns?

I've been buying a lot of Playstation Portable stuff of ebay lately and ended up winning another game for 99 cents.  As usual I pay right away and shortly thereafter I get refunded and the the following message appears in my inbox:

Dear flare65,

Hello,
Sorry for the inconvenience. Syphon Filter is not in stock.

List error due to our software.

Thanks for shopping with us!

- 99kennethmcknight99

This is an auction that ran all week and now that it has ended, the auction was a mistake?  As some of you have read in my previous posts, this seems to happen to me a lot and I think they (Sellers) just don't like the idea of not getting a dollar for a game, so they try and back out of the deal.  Usually they need a little coaxing to follow through.  Here is my reply:

Dear 99kennethmcknight99,

Hey,

This is the third time this month that I won an auction for a game at 99 cents and the auction was listed in an error or the seller had "lost" it.

Either we complete the deal, or I'm leaving negative feedback. Choice is yours.

John

Here is his reply.....

Dear flare65,

Hey, buddy. I have your address, your phone number, your email, and you want me to put you on a pedestal? LoL. Choice is I dont give 2 shits, but if somebody wanted to really fuck with you they have all the info in the world to do so. So be careful who you threat idiot.

Anyways, all im saying is im done with ebay, and truthfully I dont have the product.

Good luck, take my advice.

- 99kennethmcknight99

So now this guy is threatening to fuck with me.  Ok, maybe I was a little hard nosed in my message to him, but if you don't have the fucking game, why list it?  I reported his response to ebay under their harrasment/threat policy.  Not sure what good that will do exactly.  I checked his feedback and he ha a lot of negatives.  I should have looked at it before bidding this time around.  Anyway, here is a link to the auction:

Happened again on another game that ended at 99 cents.  Different seller though.  Right after the auction ended I get the following email in from him/her:

Do NOT send payment item has been lost

I reply back with:

You know I'm gonna leave negative feedback on this if we don't complete the deal, right? You are the second guy this month that has "lost" and item that ended at 99 cents. I'm getting sick of sellers backing out of the deal because they didn't like how the auction ended. This is the risk you take when you put stuff up on ebay. Next time list it for higher if you don't want it selling so cheap.

And she (he?) gives me this response:

If I find it ill let you kno and I am a woman I have to check the box I put it on again

This person is brand new to ebay and only has one feedback (positive).  I hate to enforce the rules, but this is getting ridiculous.

Like everyone else here, I collect for not only the TG16 or PC Engine, but I also keep my eye out for other systems that I collect for as well.  Enter ebay.com.  About six days ago I saw a PSP game that was listed for .99 cents with a shipping charge of $2.68.  No reserve price.  No Buy it Now.  I went ahead and put down a two dollar bid on a whim thinking that I would get out bid.  Well, after about five days I won the auction at 99 cents.  Nobody else bid.  I went ahead and paid the seller.

After I paid for the game, I checked my email and saw a message from the seller saying the following:

Please forgive me as i must relist this item as i did not correctly list this item , so please again for my neglict, this is my first time using ebay. ill ask that you not purchase this item that way you don't have to wait for your funds and such. hit me back asap.

I also noticed that he re-listed the exact game for a starting bid of $25.00 with a buy it now of $45.00.  Not sure about him being truthful about his first time using ebay as he has almost 40 feedbacks, all of which are positive and his recent ebay history is all about video game purchases.

How would you handle the situation?  Obviously he didn't like where the auction ended and now wants to re-list it.  Let him go or threaten him with negative feedback if he doesn't honor the deal.  I just got done working a 62 hour work week and I'm too tired and lazy to make a decision right now.

I'm not much of a sports person in real life.   I've never collected baseball cards when I was a kid or even played any sports at all.  My father never watched them when I was growing up so I just was not exposed to them.  When it comes to video games, I never look at sports titles at all.  I know there are gamers excited about the latest Madden football or new Electronics Arts sports game and play them a lot until the next version of Madden comes out....etc

Since many of you collect for other systems besides the turbo I thought I would ask you all how collectible are sports games?  Are any of them rare or highly desirable?  Ebay seems to be full of old Sega Genesis hockey, football, and baseball games that nobody ever bids on.  Personally I don't think these games age well when compared to the way these types of games are made today on the latest PS3/360 consoles.

Your thoughts?

Not trying to promote the seller, but this cable looks like the AC pass through cable that goes from the Core Graphix II to the cd unit (non-briefcase style).

Was this cable ever included with an LT?

Disc and instructions are in excellent shape.  No scratches.  Backside case artwork is there too (not pictured) Missing warranty card and spine card.  Looking to trade it for something I don't have.  Open to cash offers as well.  They usually go for 75 and up on ebay.

Some of the stuff I'm looking for, will throw in cash to even the deal if necessary:

Nexar
Summer Canrival 93
Terra Forming (japan version)
Terra Cresta II

Well I've always wanted a Supergraphix with all the games.  Some of you may remember this particular auction on ebay over a month ago:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300746531580?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It didn't get any bids and the auction ended, just how you see it.  I asked the seller if he would be willing to take a little less for it.  I only had $380.00 and after a little negotiation back and forth, he agreed to take $380.00 for everything in the auction.  Almost sounded too good to be true.  It was.

He sent me an invoice through PayPal requesting $380.00.  I paypaled it to him and he sent me some tracking info right away.  However nothing shipped for a week.  During that time he offered me a Turbo Express and a few games.  Nothin fancy or highly collectable.  I am in the market for an Express, but its way down on my list of things to buy.  We agreed upon a price and he sent me an invoice again through PayPal.  I told him I would buy it, but we need to wrap up our first Supergraphix transaction first and I added that the tracking number for the package still didn't show that it shipped.

The next day there was some activity on the tracking number.  The package had shipped.  It made its way to me over four days.  When it arrived, something just felt odd about the box.  It was poorly wrapped and didn't feel about the right weight for a game system and games.  I think the pictures speak for themselves....

The guy sent me a box of rocks!  I was scammed.  I immediately opened a dispute with paypal.  Long story short, I got my money back after THREE weeks.  During that time they had emailed the seller numerous times trying to get his side of the story, but he never responded for some reason.  I got lucky.

Not only am I a fan of PC Engine and TG-16 games, I also collect Atari Lynx, Sega Genesis/Megadrive, NES, and SNES games.  What other vintage gaming sites do you all go to?

Was looking through some of my games and noticed this one seemed to be a bit different that the rest.  Looks like a copy of a Naxat dodgeball game.

Found an ex-rental copy of Toma, but the HuCard is damaged.  The game had some sort of sticky residue on it and the owner of it used some Goo-Gone to remove the old rental sticker off the back of it.  In doing so, the Goo-Gone melted the artwork on the back of the card.  I have not bought the game from him yet, as we are trying to come up with a price that is fair to both of us.    It is the USA version of the game, but it has photo copied instructions and a couple of poor quality color photocopies of the box, so it is not a complete copy.

Long story short, don't use Goo-Gone to clean anything plastic!  Let me know what you think.

Title says it all.  I'm just curious if we can have a list going.  I'll get started with what I think would be on the list.  I'm looking to stir up some conversation and would like any and all members here to join in.

In no particular order:

1. Beyond Shadowgate
2. Might & Magic 3
3. Bonk 3 CD
4. Dungeon Explorer II
5. Bonk 3
7. Sommer Assult
8. Legend of Hero Tonma (not sure I spelled that right.....exactly how rare is this game anyway?)
9. Magical Chase
10. ???????

What do you  think?

I still don't have this game!  I'm looking for a complete copy, (original case, instructions, disc).  Spine card does not matter.  if you have an extra copy of this game, let me know!

I've seen this game pop up every now and then on ebay, but I can't seem to find any actual game play footage of the game.    Is this one of those digital comic style SCDs or an actual game?  I don't want to blind buy the game and get disappointed.

Here is a listing on ebay of the game...

Hello everyone!

I'm new to these forums.  I used to be a major collector back in the day when the Genesis and TG-16 were at each other's throats at the start of the 16 bit war.  I even worked for Electronics Boutique (remember those?) back in high school.  Wow, its been that long.  Anyway, I parted out some of my collection back in college, but now I'd like to get some of my old collection back.

I'm still rocking the original TG16 + CD attachment with the Super System  2.0 card that came out.  After all these years, the CD portion of the system kind of works.  I took the drive apart and moved the little white gear that moves the motor inside and now it seems to work.  Scared with the possibility of loosing the ability to play all my old CD and SCD games, I'm looking for Duo or Duo-R.  I'm thinking of splurging on one of those Japanese systems that has been modded.  I don't remember the guy's name, but he includes a SCART cable with his systems.  Anyone ever hook one of these to a modern TV?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to joining the discussion here and getting to know everyone!

John
