I was away for work a week back and on a whim I searched for an Arcade or a classic game store and right in the heart of Philadelphia is a place called Barcade.  Its name says it all.  Basically a hipster bar loaded with classic video game arcade machines.  Beers were nice a reasonably priced and the machines run on tokens.  So many machines and so many people there Saturday Night, I spent my time playing Samurai Shodown II.  Next time I'll play around a bit.

Yesterday I finally made it to Digital Press, arguably the best classic gaming store in NJ, because they got a stack of Neo Geo Games.  After a visit I will say that it is certainly the best for these reasons:

1.  Knowledgeable Staff, really know their stuff and they care.
2.  Fair trade in values, I brought in some doubles and consoles I didn't need and they offer WAY more than other shops
3.  YOU CAN SELL YOUR STUFF THERE TO OTHER GAMERS!!  Once a month bring your stuff there and sell it to their customers like a swap meet.  When I was there, a guy was selling FOUR Game Cube Component Cables, $200 each.  Never saw 1 let alone 4.
4.  Fair pricing on certain items, some games and consoles that are much higher elsewhere are fairly priced there.
5.  They were having a 3DO Tournament when I got there.
6.  They repair consoles, even the Virtual Boy.
7.  Amazing Selection!!!

IMG

IMG

NOT Free....

IMG

IMG

You can see the people playing 3DO on the bottom.  Free to enter I think they had prizes.

IMG

These Cases rotated with a button push.  Common items Turbo Games LYNX Gameboy/Advance, Game Gear

I asked the attendant how this SNES Display generated Scan Lines and her opened it up, SCART, that's right SCART to a VGA converter to a monitor.  This is how it came in the States. Very cool.  It's all original.

FYI that's my buddy buying DOOM for the 32X only to realize that he already had it.  Also bought  with the Donkey Konga game with the Drums only to realize it's unplayable on a LCD due to the delay, CRT only.

IMG

What's left of the Neo Geo Stuff up top.  They got a STACK of killer games that all went quick.  I managed to get one rare one that must have had a mistake on pricing as it was a steal.

IMG

Perfectly working and has the Flashboy in it  I must get one!!!!

IMG

IMG

Mad Dog McCree on the 3DO Via GXTV.  Doesn't get more 90's than that.  The gun was a little off when I played.
The guy on the left was repairing a 3DO.

IMG

IMG

IMG

That Neo Geo in the back has a LCD in it, looks TERRIBLE!!!!  Had KOF and SSII in it.  Beside the neo was a row of desktops to play League of Legends and other PC games.

IMG

Where Maddon Genesis Carts, Dreamcast web browsers disks, NBA2K games go to die.  Tons of NES dust covers and rental cases too.

IMG

IMG

IMG

Loved all these table tops and Classic Nintendo Hand-Helds.  Two Commodore 64 monitors with Super Game boys running through them.

Brand New Turbo Duo in the Box $799.99.  Told me it works fine.

Hello all.

I wanted to point out a store chain that I discovered in Gainesville FL known as 2nd and Charles and there are now locations all over the east coast and mid west.  It's a former book store that still sells books but now trades in new and preowned electronics and has a healthy selection of classic games and systems and sub eBay pricing.  They also carry a ton of Star Ways/Marvel stuff, a entire library of game guides for real low cheap, musical instruments, and clothing.  Great store and cannot recommend it enough.

So I have two copies of this game.  Why hoard extremely common games no one wants and raffle it off right?

You know the rules, if you have the game, let someone else have it.  No re-sellers but I would imagine  shipping is worth more than the game itself.

Good luck!!!!

Hello Wraffle Fans!!!  Turns out I have an extra copy of the Classic Smash Hit "The Legendary Ax".  Great game for the turbo and great fun to play.

LegendaryAxe2-HuCard.jpg

You know the drill, if you already have it let someone else have it.  Preferable a newbie who is just getting into the turbo or someone who simply just doesn't have the game.  If you want the game you must also be in good standing in terms of a trader.  Obviously no known sharks and re-sellers however this game is fairly cheap and easy to come by.  It was a launch title for the Turbo and is a great game.  I still play it a couple of times a year and hope to beat it one day.  To enter post a pic of your favorite waffle and declare your interest.

Good luck!  I'll pick a winner in on New Years Day.

P.S.  PLEASE post "I'M IN!!!!!!!!" in your reply so I know to add you.  Post your favorite Waffle pic as well to be considered for entry.  Anyone that posts a picture of the Blue Waffle is immediately disqualified or wins instantly depending upon my mood that day.  Get those waffles ready, I'd hate to see someone comment and not enter the competition.

So Far this is who I have in the Raffle.  If I forgot you please let me know or if you already have the game let me know.

In my travels I have been visiting a lot of Classic Video Game stores lately looking for deals or possibly rarer items that are acceptably priced.  Today I visited Software Seconds in Columbia South Carolina and I must say they have a rather nice collection of items  Pricing is a little high but not too over priced, basically eBay pricing.

The Place has been in business for 23 years and the owner has a lot of teh rarez on display but not for sale but also a LOT of NOS items including a brand new 3DO FZ-10 and a bunch of games for it  I got a brand new copy of Space Hulk for the Saturn.

Above is a rare Neo Geo AES Bag but has a Neo Geo in it so it's $700 for the bag system, and a loose copy of Samurai Spirits 2.  The Neo CD's are $350 a piece.  The Turbo Express is $180.  They have a Nomad for $100 but with no battery pack.  Genesis Games start at $5 loose and then if boxed add $5 on top.

If you have the misfortune of passing through Binghamton in Upstate NY (Completely desolate and decrepit, you could use the town to film a Zombie Apocalypse) take the opportunity to visit Robot City Games.  The owner is a serious collector and he has a little of everything.  Prices are VERY HIGH however ($20 for Keith Courage Loose, Super Mario World is also $20, a Boxed Mega Man 5 is $269 and so on) however his collection for sale is HUGE and he has a massive arcade as well with over 70 games and it's quite a setup if I do say so myself.

I have been traveling a lot for business lately so I have taken the opportunity to visit local game stores and found a nice one with a lot more than classic games to go to.

The Time Capsule seems to have a little of everything and I just wanted to show it's location and what it has for sale.  It has two locations, one in RI and one in MASS.  They basically have the same items and games for sale

NEC's TurboGrafx-16, Sega's Genesis, and SNK's Neo-Geo take center stage in this video of the 1991 Summer Consumer Electronics show. Also footage of Commodore's CDTV, Canon's massive camcorder booth, and high end audio equipment.

Really good stuff, gets a lot of info packed into a little video.  Extremely nostalgic and someone makes an In Living Color Joke.
The Super Nintendo at the 1991 Summer CES.  Nintendo shows off their new video game console at the 1991 Summer Consumer Electronics show. Games include Super Mario World, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Super R-Type, F-Zero, Pilot Wings, Gradius III, etc.

Johnny Arcade and Terry Lee Torok from the TV show Video!!!
For those that don't know who Johnny Arcade is :
DigitalNeohuman has a lot me CES and turbo stuff to watch if you want.

There is this crazy store I visit in North Jersey from time to time when I am in the State and I gotta say it is amongst the craziest.  The guy literally has everything just stacked and scattered every where without a care.  Nice guy, knows a ton on gaming, travels the world picking up rare games and gets stuff through China Town in the City and is a pleasure to talk to.  There is one glaring issue however; price.  I mean $40 for a loose Sonic 2 for the Genesis.  Same for a loose Keith Courage.  A loose Virtual Boy is $250.  That SNES display below is $500.  I have never purchased a thing from this guy but last time I was there for no joke 2.5 hours pawing through everything.  A ton of new old stock too.  The guy only deals face to face, no online sales, no ebay, no Amazon, no shipping.  Just face to face.  No idea how he stays in business as I have never seen the guy make a sale and his pricing makes eBay look charitable.

I apologize for the amount of pics but I wanted to post the shear magnitude of this mans collection  I've literally visited my favorite over priced games over the past 7 years and they haven't moved an inch.  I think he just doesn't want to sell and is really a collector.

I thought this was brilliant satire but a very under rated comic.

"Inspired by The Daily Show Trevor Noah controversy, the comedian took to Twitter with a 53-part piece of performance art like nothing the medium has ever seen, satirizing the ongoing death of comedy."

Brilliant.

Here it is re-posted here in its entirety:

I saw this thread over on the Sega forums and figured I share some of the sales data.  Very interesting as this was the transition between the 16-32 bit era.  You can see how fast the PS1 caught up to the Saturn in terms of sales as well.

Enjoy.

Quote from: Folco;708746Quick and dirty copy&paste.

Thanks to Benjamin Stevens kindness we now have the Famitsu article with shipment data for FY '96 (source: Famitsu Magazine Issue # 392, Page 8).
This is a very important article since we now have close to definitive totals for systems like Game Gear, Mega CD and 3DO (at least for the Panasonic and Sanyo models).
It also shows the official standing between SNES and Mega Drive until March 1996 (when Sega discontinued most of its systems in Japan but the Saturn).
At a quick glance the data should be:

I wanted to post about a Classic Video Game shop down here in Virginia that recently opened and show some pics of this place.  I love the guy's name, must be an old game tag he takes very seriously.  This is a very good shop however the prices are EXPENSIVE.  More expensive than eBay pricing for sure but he has a little of everything.  The Neo Geo CDZ is $700.00, Bonk's Revenge is $70, Nes Top Loader is $150.00, you get the idea.  The guy has pretty much everything however, I just can't get past his pricing.  He has many systems setup and I spent some time playing Space Harrier on the 32X ($40 for that game BTW).  I ended up picking up TEMPO for the 32x from him for a good price and Battlecorps Sega CD Game from Core.  I figured I'd post this up for anyone in the area and maybe he is willing to ship.  I respect any serious shop and this guy had a lot of people in his shop when I went so business seems to be good.  He also sells current gen consoles and does repairs.  He also has computers for people to play games on there as well.

  New Game: "Jets" For TurboGrafx-16/SuperGrafx

Not sure if this has been posted yet but I just read and saw this and it looks amazing!!!  I need a Super Grafx now!

IMG
Quote from: Carl WilliamsIt is not uncommon back in the day to discover new games that did not have names at the time of discovery. EGM, Gamefan and Gamepro all ran short articles that usually contained one single, blurry, picture and a sentence describing what was seen by the journalist. Today though, with the power of the Internet and the "clickbaiting" that goes on, it is not so easy to find a new game early in development. "Jets" for the Turbo Grafx-16/Super Grafx is just such a title. Originally unearthed by All Gamers, a French gaming website, "Jets" is still quite unknown. Suffice to say, it is a side scrolling shooter (exactly what these NEC systems were known for).

Currently only a few pics and a video are avaliable for "Jets". Neither of which show much other than the basic gameplay of one level that has A LOT of repeating backgrounds (worse than your average Flintstones episode).
IMG
Fabrice Chanssez is the name of the team behind this new shooter. At the Retro-Gaming Connexion in France, "Jets" was shown to fans for the first time.
Obviously very early but at least it is something.

neo-geo.com has been hacked and is down since yesterday.
 IMG

It seems like the guy has had it with the site, which has been hacked many times before.  I spoke to the guy on Facebook and it seems like he is quite serious.  What kinda damage can he do?  Can he delete the data from the servers or is it just a simple hijack until the site is returned back to the owner?

Years ago I was part of www.dsmtalk.com and it was hacked by some guy who was obviously really mad and deleted EVERYTHING, I mean everything, so we had to start all over.

As the title states, Looking for TG16 Power Supply, Multitap, Controllers, Common Games.  I have a U.S. TG16 I need the power supply as I am using an off brand.  I could use one for a Turbo Duo as well.  I'd also like a Duo Controller as I only have AVE 6 pads.  Nice to be OG for a change.

I got this thing a Month ago and I am having issues.  Below is a quickie video I made.  I'm only out $6 so no big deal I am just wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it.

Thanks guys!

I find this incredibly impressive.  I hope they make some games using these FX and Music styles.  Amazing after all these years this much effort is getting put into these ancient machines.
It's running at 50 HZ so more CPU time but also has 512 colors on screen at once.  That is amazing trickery.
#23
This is one of my favorite places to visit.  I don't get to go as often as I like due to my work schedule but I strongly recommend a visit.  I wanted to post a video I made of YESTERcades on Broad Street in Red Bank NJ. It is IMHO an extremely well done Arcade and very nostalgic. The owner is a true fan of classic gaming and really into the gaming industry in general.  I've donated a bunch of games (Most recently Metal Slug 5) and you can actually trade games for playing time.  From time to time they have tournaments like Smash Brothers or Mario Kart.  Great place to be and a clean atmosphere.

My Vid is a bit dark in places but you get the point, strongly recommend visiting this place if you get a chance.

While vacationing in Las Vegas this week, I decided to hit up the local classic video game store.  I love that these stores still exist and especially by collectors but almost always prices are way outa line.  Either way this store has a quality collection of classic gaming and free arcade games and kiosks.  They even have an original XBOX that has been modded with classic games in its original kiosk.

That said prices were obtrusive but still worth a visit.
There was actually an article about this place in the local paper.  Nice to see classic gaming is growing in popularity but that also means a price spike.

I am almost certain that this video was posted before but I was just curious how all this was done back then.  When I watched this video I was extremely impressed to see a HD TV from 1993 but I am willing to but it was just a 480i set?  Anyone ever see this TV?  Is it CRT?  Is this video a put on?  The first flat screen I saw was back in 1997 in California at some Pebble Beach Event.  It was A SD not HD.  The TV in the video looks WAY too advanced for 20 years ago.

Enjoy
