@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

However, nightwolve (LLC) has invited me back after the resurrection of our lord and savor all things Obey.

I'll eventually relearn how to use forums and post more interesting things. Maybe even included images!

Off-Topic / Divisive Topic.
10/06/2018, 10:01 AM
So here is a topic that's gotten tons of divisive comments on a movie collector fb group.

Scenario:

Used media store. Chain company sales used movies, tv shows, music etc.

Cases of movies are displayed while DVDs and what not are stored to keep people from stealing.

Potential customer walks in the store. Looks through movies. Finds some of the empty cases have the paper slip with the digital download code inside. Asks employees if he can claim codes.

Employees say "we can't sale the codes, guarantee they work, and usually claim the codes ourselves. If you find a code that works we don't care if you use it just put the case back because reshelfing is a lot of work".

Potential customer (I say that because let's say the guy doesn't buy a thing and walks out) then proceeds to find one or more codes that work. Claim them.

So that's the story.

Now the response.

1) that's stealing.

2) that's greedy

3) movie companies can press charges on you

4). That's a felony offens because at the start of every movie it says so.

5) you are just justifying the stealing of property and a bad person

6)  if the store doesn't care what's the issue

7) does any ever use these codes?

There are more but they mostly for the moralistic rout.

Personal take.

1) stealing?  Not if the entity selling the used products considered it stealing. Sure the person who buys the used item might want a working code but that would mean they would need to go through every used case to find a code that works if any have a code and it works.

2) illegal. No. The code is a legal means for the pubsliher to entice a buyer to get the new item. Once it's no longer new the publisher does not get any revenue. Additionally since the dotogital codes are not meant to be sold asperity most 3rd party companies can't sale the code. eBay has 3rd party rules against it, and the original owner who sold the item never claimed the code. The publisher already factored the existence of the code from potential additional revenue, and made it so the code can expire after X amount of time if not claimed.

3) greedy. Of course. No doubt. Is it wrong?  We are taking about collectors who value the quantities of stuff in a collection. That's an absered notion.

Lastly, yeah what's the deal with these codes?  For years I never claimed my codes. But recently went through my movie library and claimed as many as I could that still worked. Even did the same at my parents as they didn't care or want their codes. I also now claim the codes when I buy new movies. Yes my physical media library is in the hundreds maybe more then a thousand. While my Doris library is around 70. But here is the thing. I have no intrinsic value for the digital library. One day that digital library can get shit down. The company can go out of business. But that physical copy. I can always pick up and watch if I wanted to.

So basically it boils down to this. Are there policies that prevent or discurage a person from claiming. Codes for digital media that they themslef did not buy?  Not really. Unless you are walking into a store opening up new items meant for an original owner you are not doing anything wrong.

But that's just my take. What is some of yours?  Do you agree it's simlly wrong and feel shame?  Do you want to run out now to your local used movie store and ask if you can look for unclaimed codes?

Off-Topic / Retro controllers and mods.
07/29/2018, 10:19 PM
So I have been thinking of retro controllers recently due to 8bit duos new DIY PCBs.

Basically it's a PCB for the NES, NES mini, SNES, SNES mini, and Genesis 6-button controller. You unscrew the controller yank out the guts toss in the new board and close it up. Then you have a "new" blue tooth controlor ready to be used on a PS3/4, XBONE, Switch or retro device that has a 8bit duo controlor connector for blue tooth play.

As Sheldon once said everything is better with Bluetooth.

I personally live this user friendly so dad that $20 off their website. As I have 2-3 contrives thst I have kept that are messed up or the costs is all janky.

Then I thought. What about the NES Advantage? Or the 3 button genesis controlor/stick?  What about PCE controlor s?  Or other third party stuff that you pay prefer over original controls (but made during the era of the systems life).

Thoughts?

I have realized that slowly I have become a bit of a famicom fan. Initially getting the games boxed wasn't to hard or expensive. However Lose has become the more affordable route these past few years. With that's said I find myself thinking of ways to store and organize my loose fami carts.

I also find myself constantly looking for that next fun game. So with all that said I thought let's talk famicom. Sure I could go to NA. But. Then I'd have to go to NA. Lol.

I couldn't find the full segment about Marge trying to appeas the modern sensibility of edition a children's book for Lisa.

Where in the end Lisa states "so she starts off well adjusted
And there for has no challenge to oversome to grown as a person?  Sounds kind of pointless"

Which bleeds into the Lisa monologue about Apu and what was once socially wxecrabe and what is now seems offensive.

Personally his kind of SJW stick makes my eyes spin counter clock wise in my head.

Off-Topic / Stan Lee Abuse?
04/19/2018, 08:32 PM
So I have been made aware recently that Stan Lee maybe the target of elder abuse by either his lawyer or daughter.

Based on what I have gleamed from yesterday I conclude it's the daughter. The video of Stan denouncing the signed document drafted by his lawyer denouncing the various acts of elder abuse perpetrated by his (Stan) daughter seem to be a parent attempting to course correct negative backlash against his daughter. Due to fear, parental love, or combination there of.

I have to say it saddens me to see a titan of comic industry be reduced to a paycheck by his only child (at 64 yrs of age). The man is 95 and recently lost his spouse the year previously.

I hope things turn out better for all parties involved. No person celebrity or otherwise is to be treated as he has (and his now deciding spouse) by their children.

Thoughts? Has this been something already of discussion?

Off-Topic / Hasbrolab
02/24/2018, 10:39 PM
So I am unfamiliar with Hasbrolab. Apparently it's Hasbro (Kickstarter). With that said I recently became aware of Hasbrolab because of their most recent announcement. The Star Wars retro inspired Jaba's sail Barge.

A beast of a play set with a backing price of $499 plus tax.

Now that isn't all. As the project won't be backed unless 5,000 people (pre-order) the behemoth to ensure it's creation past a 3D rendering and concept show pics presnelt used to promote it.

There appeared to be mixed reactions. But what doesn't get mixed reactions these days.

Off-Topic / Funny Sounding Words.
02/01/2018, 09:19 PM
Ever spend an eternity listening to a song or favorite line from a movie/show only to realize you have been wrong on what was said?

Well I have. In part because I have a hearing impairment secondary to one to many  TBI's.

Example I had a Hallen Oats song stuck in my head today.

I am getting dressed for work singing "you're a bitch girl and you've gone to far. You're use to relying on the old man's money. Because it's a bitch girl"

My wife gives me the most bizzar look. Are you sure that's the way the song goes?

Of course.

What's the name of the song?

You're a bitch girl.

Wife looks it up.

Do you mean you're a rich girl?

I then look at the lyrics.

Palm meet face.

Presently I am celebrating my fith year anniversary that my cousin was my roommate and gave me his Netflix account info.

Score $15 a month savings! Lol jk I get it as a T-Mobile customer.

But in all seriousness I just finished watching "The Babysitter" 2017 off Netflix. It is hilarious dark comedy IMO. It feels like something ripped out of the 80s.

Favorit part (of many) was when the kid goes after a kitchen knife to protect himself only to not find it. It then cutes away to his parents where the mother asked the father "where you the one who left the knife in the dishwasher" father "mmmmhmm (reading a book in bed)". Mother "don't do that again it goes in the butcher stand (all while she is casually giving. Him a handjob under the sheets as she too is reading a book). Then cuts back to the kid with the attacked having grabbed the knife instead.

Fighting Street / The Female Only Group
10/20/2017, 12:44 PM
So I thought I'd post my first "fighting street thread.

Primarily on FB I have seen the following trend:

Female post in popular group (gaming/crt/comics/whatever) promoting her own group in direct competition of the fb group she posted in of a female only sub group.

Then shit gets stupid"er".

Comment reply post

-why?

-this divides an already nigch group

-SAFE ZONES!!

-and a slew of white knights.

-and possibly the original poster replying to the troll post being bigger trolls but getting away with their behavior because hey are girls.
h and get
With the admins trying to sleet comments and ask people to just report the bad behavior.

The ironic part to me is if I go to the female only fb group I can then sometimes see the poster asking for female members posting comments about the previous group she was asking for members about and talking all kinds of smack about he group as a whole.

Which then gets comments form the fellow women being trolls towards men in general and bing the biggest hypocrite ever.

It almost seems like someone set up a secrete group to talk trash and get away with it. Like if they made a sub group for white surpremsist so they can openly say ____ in a social space and have nothing but agreement in use of that word.

So. Just thought I'd post that.

As I find it humorous.

And sad.

If people want a female ___ group that's fine. Make one. But I don't see the need to go to popular groups to look for members. Let the members find your group the same way you found the popular one. By activity looking for it.

10/06/2017, 10:41 PM
It's that time of year.  This October I plan to round out some gals in my horror movie library. Which to be honest is 90% devoted of horror.

Blu-ray wish list for this year

-night if the creeps (heard a new Blu-ray came out but forget the name of the company. They did the new release of the 80s animated transformer movie last year)

-gremlins 1

-goonies (pirates it's basically Halloween)

-werewolf in London/Paris

-the son of the blob (the 80s color movie)

-and lastly something recommended by you all.

I could make a Halloween movie list for ages but I feel if I trim it down to just a few each year I'll actually buy the dang movie and watch/re-watch it for the current Halloween.

Looking for what ever passes for the cleanest transfer with best version of movie.

Off-Topic / Sideshow Collectables.
08/31/2017, 12:26 PM
Thought I'd post a thread about the "uber" of collecting Side Show collectibles. The Neo Geo AES of the toy world in cost.

Does anyone here own any side show figures and such?

About two years ago I ordered the 1/6 hulk buster figure. It's been paid off for some time as I like the ability to do monthly payments on their figures. Granted the hulk buster hasn't been released yet.

More recently I also pre-ordered

Baby groot 1:6 figure
Joker quarter figure (Heath ledger joker)
Spider-man Delux (from the recent home coming movie)

These will be my first side show figures ever.

In the past I attempted to buy others through pre-order by I always feel through and canceled them. But Hess I have paid in full and haven't canceled.

I guess I better start thinking of what to use to house/display these things before next year when they are released.

Off-Topic / PS3 Move Games
01/22/2017, 12:03 PM
So I was going through my games and took note of the move games I currently own. Which turns out to be three. I could have sworn I had more. With that in mind I started to look through what PS3 move games were released and which ones might be interesting.

Have:

Children of Eden
Resistance 3
No More Heros HD
Dead Space Extraction HD (with DS2)
Portal 2
Puppeteer
Resident Evil 5 Gild Edition
Rune Factory tides of destiny

INTERESTED

house of the dead overkill HD
Deadly premonition Directors Cut
De blob 2
Epic Mickey 2 (didn't know it was in the PS3)
Heavy Rain (PS4 getting a HD port on the fence)
House of the Dead 3&4 (physical release?)
Infamous 2
Killzone 3
Medevile Moves
Need for Speed most Wanted
Ninja Gadien 3
okami
Resident Evil dark side/umbrella chronicles (physical?)
The sky collection
Time crises with guncon (only seen it once locally)
Resident Evil 4 (on the fence since it also got a physical PS4 release but unsure if it has any move functionality)

I went off a list of move titles in Wikipedia. Some of the ones I listed in my have list I didn't realize to be move games as I just tend to look at the spine label.

So I thought I'd share a funny story. I am currently selling some things I have doubles of to make space and buy other things.

I currently have a medley of games and systems up. One game I am selling is Pocket Foghters for the PSONE CIB. In pretty good shape and a fun game IMO. I had the game posted for about two weeks and I have had some messages. Mostly "what's your best offer?" And my response $25 that's posted. If you want to offer a different amount or trade for game comic or etc feel free. Then no response.

Today I got a buyer throw "$7" ina message nothing else. I responded with sorry to low loose copies regularly goes for $15-19.

The guy then askes me what is the game like?  I shoot back with a link to a YouTube video of the game in action. He responded with "so it's a SF game with babies?"

At this point I figure okay guy is wasting my time.  I click on his image to see if he is selling things and what's his deal. He has various games posted as well some PSONE and more current mostly greatest hits. Everything is in the $25-40 range. What killed it for me was a packaged of used crayons for $20. It still has the sale sticker that's reads $1.99.

At this point I realize oh it's a reseller flipper. He isn't interested in playing the game.

The guy then sends me more messages saying hey okay how about $12. They are selling on eBay for $19 CIB. I tell him no. They are currently going $17-19 loose and $30-45 CIB on eBay there is one auction CIB that's at $12 but has more then six days left and I doubt it will sell that low.

Then he shoots back hey they go for $10 on eBay. I reply where?  He says in the sold listing one just soled for $10.20.

I say nah it's okay you don't seem interested.

His last message. It's okay dude it's just for the navaltiy. I don't want to pay to much.

This reminded me why I do t usually bother trying to sell things. It's more of a pain to try and sell then it is to buy.

With hat said anyone want to buy a box of crayons for $20?

MTV News made us our own video for the new year!

And it's the most offensive, racist, gender targeted narrative that exemplifies the definition of hate speech you could think of. However, it's okay! It's all in jest and we should take it in good humor that an entire gender and race has been targeted once again as the boogeyman for America.

Oh and they threw in BLM and that Blue lives doesn't hold weight because a comedian said "cops weren't borne with blue skin."

Stay classy internet.

Lastly, FB doesn't consider the video posted my MTV news as hate speech as it doesn't violate their community standards. So they gave it a pass when more then a few people flagged it on fb.

Off-Topic / Modern Halloween Movies.
10/28/2016, 03:53 PM
So let's talk modern Halloween movies.

Sure I love my regular Halloween movies/shorts

Monster Squad
The blob (80s)
Killer Klowms from Outterspace
Gremlins 1&2
Ghostbusters 1&2
Nightmare on elm street 1-3
The return of the living dead
The Thing (70s)
Mimic
Cube
Tales from the crypt (tv)
Treehouse of terror (Simpson)
And the twight light zone.

But let's push those to the side for now. What are some more modern movies and shows you enjoy watching that came out after the year 2000?

Personally I like

Cabin in the woods
Cabin fever
Sinister
The Mist (Steven King)
Hotel 208
Tucker and Dale Versus evil
Behind the mask of Leslie
Hard candy
Let the right one in (not the pice of shit American remake
Midnight meat train
Pandorium
The ring
The grub
The maid
Last missed call
Would you rather
VHS

Krumpus

Some of the modern Halloween tv specials like regular show

Hell much more really. Some I am probabaly blanking on.

Granted I am not much a fan of "tourchure porn". I don't go to a movie to see how grossed out I can be before I feel sick. I go to be entertained and at times scared or to laugh at the dark comedy. With that said Tusk isn't one I care to see or any of the human centapieds or Saw movies.

I would the first Saw to be interesting and enjoyable but not devolved into an let's kill people in as odd and different ways possibly film series cash cow. And hostel the first one I liked. It added a extra dose of fear as I was currently in a very 3rd world European country at the time of its release.

Then there are some movies I simply can't remember the name to. Like the one about an Aztec pyramid where American tourist get trapped and find out the plants can mimic their voices and infect them preventing their escap lenby their locals.

I take it many here have various arcade sticks they have used, own, and enjoyed over the years.

Be it 1st party, 3rd party, or some Frankenstein's monster you cooked up for the multitude of systems which exist.

I thought I might be fun to post pictures of the various sticks in your collections and make recommendations based on your opinions for system (x). If you have modded or had modded a system and want to talk about what you changed. Added. Or improved feel free.

Once I am home I'll take a picture of the four or so arcade sticks I have. Granted the ones I have or pretty basic arcade sticks for the NES, SNES, Genesis, and Saturn. Still on the hunt for a decently priced Dreamcast stick considering I would probably upgrade the buttons and stick.

Haven't messed with any sticks for the PlayStation honestly and from what I have seen the Xbox sticks are all collector sticks from various released fighting games. Which appear to be interchanable with what was made avilable for the PS3 apart from the connector port.

Off-Topic / Collection/compilation games
06/18/2016, 01:44 PM
Let's talk about collection/compilation games.

Your Midway Arcade Treasures, Campcom Classics, and Sonic Classic Collection (which oddly had various sega Genesis games with some arcade ports as well).

I am a sucker for these type of compilations. I see one and I typically have to have it.

Especially since my wife said I could buy a few games for Father's Day while at a retro store. Considering my recent pitches I wasn't intending to buy jack. But meh. Father's Day. Fuck it lets roll.

Picked up:

Midway Arcade Treasures Vol 2 & 3 for the PS2
And Capcome Classicics Vol 1 (PS2)

They where two for ten. So that was a easy buy.

Granted as I looked at the games listed I couldn't help but try and remember someone saying a OC Engine exclusive game (port of a arcade game) with the main protagonists a female warrior had a PS2 collection port as well. Hell if I can remember what game it was honestly.

Who here buys their games?

I have picked up a majority of their games. All on the Dream Cast as those where the most affordable option.

However, their latest game kraut Buster a Metal Slug like game will only be available as a MVS or AES game. In fact I think for their past two games they are no longer releasing on the Dream Cast due to pirating of their games. Which is kind of lame in my opinion. I don't feel the people who bought their dream cast games would stop just because there were bootleggers. The people bootleg I. Their games where never goi. To buy their stuff.

Well they sent a email stating they opened back up pre-order and well I pulled the trigger. I always kept away from their MVS games due to price. But. Well. I really want to try this game out.
Go go creadit card!  That I hate to use lol.

It's going to be some anime and 80s cartoon sessions (doubles). Going to add a game or two to toss in as a big old bundle.

Rules

None. Just enjoy. Post if you wish to be added in the raffle. The raffle will held on Sunday. So you have until Saturday midnight to be added. Once I crawl out of bed on Sunday I'll throw your name in a Randomized number generator and see who wins.

Postage will be paid by me and I don't care where you live. So even those in Canada can join in the fun so long as you can play region 1 DVDs.

Here are the DVDs for the raffle. Have yet to pick out a game or two. Earth SOS is personally a fun OVA and this group is only missing the first DVD. Easy to find and cheap at around $10. Transformers G1. Got season 1, 2 part 1, and 3 part one (recently won a lot with the whole set so there is no need for these doubles. Although I bought these new when they first came out). Lastly Read or Die TV show. Love this anime and the prequel OVA that kicked it all off. Bought this double by mistake. Have yet to compete this DVD set.

So for the past few weeks I have been thinking about my game room. Primarily the fact that I had just completed the reorganization pace and labeling of my collection while I plan and get shelving made for my upstairs loft.

Because of my reorganization I was able to see exactly what I have where the majority of it was either in boxes at my storage unit apartment or parents house throughout my various jobs and moving prior to the pitches of my first house. This was partly a bad idea as my wife was with me playing with our son and often commenting on how she had not realized the number of games systems and so forth I actually owned lol. She then said that I shouldn't sell everything off. But she knows I have no plans to and was being more sarcastic then anything.

Through this process and possibly even more so once I have displayed and proper access to my games, comics, movies/tv and toys I was honestly surprised at the status of my collection. Not only at the size of it but more so the content. In the past few years it has grown sure but some of the items I now own and enjoy are things that honestly at one point seemed like an unattainable goal.

The varied selection of my games, systems, and general taste in entertainment has evolved greatly since I started as well. Being someone who grew up with Atari then migrated to Nintendo with the NES my 80s and 90s exposure to anything else was limited.

Sure I had the one vision who had a Genesis and I got to play sonic and the bloody mortal kombat. Or the other family member who had a TG-16 and I got to play Bonk. But apart from my first migration away from Nintendo with the PS2 (I really wanted a DVD player as a new college student) I hardly looked back.

However here I am in my early 30s and with in the past six years I have collected played and enjoyed Neo Geo MVS (really took me back to arcades as a teen), the vast Sega library from SMS through the Dream Cast (which I still activity look for Sega games on newer systems) as well as a short dance with Arcade PCBS and super guns.

I look at some of my games such as Snatcher, and Gate of Thunder or even say Metal Storm and think wow these games are extremely fun. Their cult status and ability to endure as fun games and impressive graphical feats for their time holds true.

I organize my comics and look at my more prized issues such as my ASM #1 (sure it looks like a dog ate part of it but it's mine lol) or the Vampirela #1 (Christmas gift from my father after my first deployment) and think wow.

I pick through the remains of childhood toys like my castle grey skull which have seen better days lol and wonder if my own 9 month old son will enjoy it when he is 4-5.

I bring all of this up and name drop a few of my personal treasures items for this reason. Who else here finds themselves taking a step back at their own collection of various collectibles and think wow. Fonding themselves in awe that they own certain items that they owned as a kid or where able to obtain much later that they at one point thought where outside of their reach. Either die to rarity, expense, or extravagance. I find myself being less and less envious of other people's collections at this point and finding more consent with what I already have. Maybe it is because there are fewer and fewer things on my "want list" or maybe I simply learned to be more appreciative of what I currently have without the need to run out and pick up the next interesting or fun looking game or collectible do dad I see or hear about in the latest episode of game sack or so forth.

Once I have my loft complete with shelving I will update the gaming evolution what ever thread. At the moment stacks of lowes boxes are not interesting lol.

Dingy dingy dingy yellow and brown.

Tossed some hydrogen peroxide on it sealed it and let it site in sun light for three days on the window sill.

It has shortened up well but going to try and get it just a LITTLE more whiteness.

Anyone else ever try this as well?

Off-Topic / Shit Kid Gamers Say
10/08/2015, 11:20 AM
I have been wanting to post some of the random stuff kids say regarding retro games and systems.

Since becoming a father and being married my interaction level with anyone younger then 26 has increased.

I thought of calling it "shit kid gamers say" similar to the "shit my dad says".

Not sure yet.

For reference these are interactions with my friends kids (one has a 12 yr old a 6 he old and a 7 month old all boys) and my brother in-law is dating a women with a 9 year old boy.

But here are a few gems I can remember over the past year:

1)
Me: "I want to get a WiiU it looks like fun"

12 yr old: "why?" "Nintendo is going bankrupt and will not making games soon"

Me: "who told you that?"

12 yr old: "people"

Me:  "what people"

12 yr old:  "people on the Internet"

Me: "lol oh yeah because EVERYTHING on the Internet is true"

12 yr old:  "well I saw it on YouTube"

2)
Shows 12 yr old NES system and games.

Me: "want to play a game?"

12 yr old: "mmm okay"

Me: "oh let's try Mega Man 2 I think you'll like it"

12 yr old: "okay"

5 minutes in

12 yr old: "this is typos there is no story", "that's dumb they just put the word "man" after every enemy", "THATS NOT FAIR!"

Me: "What isn't fair?"

12 yr old:  "I just died!"

Me: "and?"

12 yr old: "but it's to hard!" "It's not like COD!"  "How are you suppose to play this? "I don't get it" puts controller down

Me: "it only has two buttons you can figure it out".

12 yr old: "No! It's stupid and looks bad you can't even tell what anything is and it doesn't show you how to play".

3)

9 yr old: "Chris I want to play your NES"

Me: "okay" puts in SMW3

9 yr old: "I am great at video games because I am a video game master!"

8 minutes later

9 yr old: "it's impossible" "I can't do it". Keeps getting killed by turtles "it's not fair I am never going to be able to beat this level".

There are more. But that's all for now.

No kids names where given to protect me from their mothers lol.

So here is the thing with the Vita.

It's the epitate of a nitch system to me.

I seem to be having entirely to much fun tracking down these limited physical released games it has been pumping out.

From Retro City Rampage to the Corpse Part Blood Drove to that lets get physical release of Shinobi oh and let's not forget that Fairy game.

I could be wrong but even child of light can only be found as a PS Vita physical game and now (although now PSVita exclusive) Mighty No 9 (but I preordered the WiiU port as that system as well gets almost no love).

So am I missing any other Vita only releases for physical games that are otherwise digital download only?

Anyone else but for the vita also pick up these port?  Or just say F it and get the digital version

General Gaming / Time Gal Raffle
03/08/2015, 07:34 PM
Okay I am raffiling my copy of Time Gal for the Sega CD.

Why?  Because I got a CIB copy for the same price as my loose copy and the loose one I got was scratched and does not seem to work past the start screen. Maybe someone here can buff the cd to work as I am to lazy to even try.

So if you need/want this game and want to try and buff the CD to work again let me know and I will add you to the list!

This drawing will end later this month when I get around to it.

Off-Topic / NEW JOB UPDATE
02/26/2015, 02:35 PM
UPDATE.

That job I was offered in Boston with the Va as a VR Counselor?  I was offer but declined.  Many reasons. Wife is in her third trimester baby due any day now and we are nearly done closing on our first house and expect to move in on the 23rd of this month.

The same week I declined that job another one opened up here in San Antonio TX. I APPLIED

well I had my interview yesterday. I was called today and offered the job as a GS 11 step 1 Va VRC Federal Employee.

I accepted (duh). So

Now we play the waiting game. My last day as a state employee is May 1st my first day with the Va May 3rd. Some time in between my wife will go into labor. I will take leave to be with her (possibly only get a week off before my new job starts). I will also need to coordinate a move into a new house and move belonging from a storage unit from our previous town 3 1/2 hours outside of San Antonio to get an extra clutch the bulk of my game toy and comic collection as well as my arcade and coke machines.

I am also in the process of packing our belongings. Which is why I have yet to finish that raffle for a loose Time Gal. It is also why along with all these changes I have not posted much of at all here.

That is all carry on fellow OBYERS.

Off-Topic / IMac G3
02/16/2015, 07:00 PM
So I have been thinking of picking up 3-4 iMac G3s (various colors but red and blue are must).

But I want to get them to use their colorful cut CRTs in there candy coated all in one sexy shapes for retro gaming.

I think I could pick up 4 15 inch G3s for what? $100-200?

The question I have is:

Who knows how to mod the CRTs to allow Let mehook up RGB?

Also anyone got any G3s they don't want?  Free is better but of course I'd pay shipping.

Off-Topic / Game Manual Collection
02/08/2015, 10:08 PM
Sometimes I think it would b really cool if someone were to make chrome hard bound coffe table editions of various generations of systems. Containing high quality reprints pull page of the complete library of that systems manuals for quick reference.

Just something that comes to mind. Sure most games do not require a manual but imagine if it was something printed in a nice edition. Re-edited (with corrections as some hints and manuals where incorrect) double page maps full color that were included and some of that custom drawings or pictures of items enemies and so forth.

I recently found a really neat pdf collection of NES games that I plan to go through and make into a custom PDF or word doc.

Do not know if something similar exist for SNES Genesis SMS or TG and such but I think I found a little side project to work on next weekend.

Testing out my idea:

IMG

IMG

Just some ideas for layout.  Combining what is in the manual with a little added game sprit work.  Try and keep it with the same feel of the origianl manual, but also make it more eye catchign and worth while for a hardbound colored collection of information.

Of course this would be purly a fan created item, as Nintendo would need to approv any sort of MASS production of this content.  Or any other owner of the various games/systems TM logos, charactors, and so forth.

But yeah...just an idea.

I know there was a thread on this back in May 2014 when it was first announced but it didn't come up on may search. Maybe it was deleted. I don't think there is a single user here planing on buying it.

But it is suppose to be release next month. Also a few weeks ago pictures of the motherboard where also released. Still no video of the system in action but that will be soon.

So with it coming out soon and those pics of the inner workings what are some revised thoughts on this new clone system?

I will say one thing.  That custom motherboard is sexy as all hell.

IMG

Found some more pictures:

Here is one of the case fliped upside down:

IMG  "precision aluminum fabrication"

Here are the controllor ports:

IMG  "gold plated, reinforced pins"

Seems originally they were just going to use the origianl controllor ports which was a selling feature.  Well seems that the plastic used was not good enough and the original controllor ports were tossed for custom ones made.  In black, but for you who pre-order you can request for the ultra limited white controllor ports.

IMG

Seems there was suppose to be video of the system runing games in their super high resolution back in 17 December 2014.  That never seemed to happen.

Also their recent push back of the release from Feburary to April was not their first but a second:

"Analogue Nt Manufacturing Update

We are two thirds completed with the Analogue Nt's production. We are currently overseeing enclosure manufacturing and finishing. The Analogue Nt's enclosure goes through a multi step bead blasting finishing process. This aspect of production is one that requires outstanding attention to detail to perfection.

As we wrap up the final stage of manufacturing, we've run into a consistency issue during the enclosure finishing. To mitigate further delays - the Analogue team will be spending the holidays in China, from December to January. This allows us to personally oversee the final touches of each and every unit, to assure absolute perfection. Once the enclosures are verified and finished we'll be ready for assembly and shipping.

Due to this unforeseen hurdle, the Analogue Nt will be shipping in February 2015. "

and one more thing about that scaler/upgrader that they are selling seperatly:

"HDMI Adapter

There is one question we receive daily about the HDMI Adapter: "Does it function as well as the XRGB / Framemeister units?"

Yes.

The HDMI adapter is significantly superior to all of the pre-existing upscaling units available on the market - including the XRGB / Framemeister units.

The HDMI Adapter has a slew of incredible features and a video showcasing all of them will be out on December 17th. We cannot wait for you to see it."

I found all of this on another forum.

As far as those review systems I would have red a guess to those who are either "big ame" you tubers and those who reviewed their previous all wood CMVS.

Off-Topic / SONY BVM-14F5U
01/01/2015, 12:28 AM
So I am eye banging this SONY BVM-14F5U.  It is 24 inches and current bid is at $250 with no one bidding. There is a buy it now at $350 with shipping at $50 but with a day and a half going I am hoping to be a only bidder at the $250 starting bid.

My question is for those who use these bad boys.  Is $300 with shipping a good deal or a tad over priced?
