Oh yah, sorry about that downtime (I haven't been checking up on the site recently).  If it is down for more than a day or so, please feel free to let me know.  It shouldn't be down for that long and I might not know about it.

Thanks for the suggestion dpaint4... the reason why the forum is the standard theme is all due to time.  Maybe sometime in the future when I have a vacation I will change the site, but not at the moment.

dpaint4,

Well, I'd say, if you can do it, try it once and see what happens.  You could always go the torrent route with your video as well if you were really worried about your site limit.

Quote from: guestIGN posted a hands-on preview of Ys VI for PS2:

I played this one at E3 last year and it's looking to be a cool hack n' slash.  I can't wait for more Ys in English...finally!

From 1up.com:

"PSP Ys VI Japanese Release Date

Next January, a bit after the launch fervor subsides.

By David Smith

Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for PSP, Konami's handheld revision of the Falcom-developed PC action-RPG, will see release in Japan on January 20, Japanese retailers report today.

The PSP version of the sixth Ys game will feature the same quest and gameplay as Konami's PlayStation 2 version. In addition to the main quest mode, which comes in Normal or Hard flavors, players can also unlock an extra-tough Nightmare difficulty level and a time attack mode featuring all the game's bosses in rapid succession.

Ark of Napishtim is slated to hit the PS2 in North America next spring, while the PSP version is tentatively scheduled to launch with the PSP on this continent (whenever that happens). We'll have more details once the Japanese version arrives. "
Ahhh....looks great!  Ys VI is one main reason why I'm waiting to get a PSP.

SITE UPDATE 11.6.04:

- eMail is now working (pcefx@pcengine-fx.com)

- Currently working to bring the site back.  No ETA, but should be soon...
#1564
Quote from: dj898no I was running out of space so I had to sell the said suitcase plus PC Engine Duo box set and couple of Saturn and two Dreamcast... and I still have way too many consoles - according to missus...

That's funny man...I'm in the same boat!  I have over 30 consoles but my wife knew what she was getting into when she married me :)  She's not really into video games, which is one thing I've been trying to get her into...at least she likes Bomberman and Worms World Party.
#1565
$40 is a good price, considering the premium people are putting on SCD's these days.  If you didn't get the map (it should have at least come with the original case, cd and manual) than it's still a good price.
#1566
The forum was not yet complete monads.  I first thought that I could only recover the board with an old backup, but I was lucky and managed to backup the current board from the old web host and do it that way.
#1567
Hi all,

SITE STATUS: Well, here is what happened...my web host went down, and I heard talk about them going out of business recently, so to save myself the pain of doing it later, I have decided to ditch my current host and just go with someone reliable.  The new plan I have is 2x better than my old host, and it's even cheaper with better service and faster servers! (YAY!)

EMAIL: Email is still down, so don't bother sending anything to pcefx@pcengine-fx.com for a few more days.

FORUM: Good news!  I was able to backup the old forum database (LUCKY!), and reload the backup to the new host forum...so NOTHING has been lost (so happy about that).  I will be doing monthly backups of the forum just in case (if it is one thing I hate is loosing forum messages...grr)

Just an update to the radio stream status:

- Normalizing is currently active.  I will be listening to the stream, and correcting any remaining issues with volume.

- Re-naming and proper tagging of all current music is now complete.  (yay!)

Next I will be adding more songs & station IDs.  Please note that the stream might be up and down during the next week while changes are being made.
#1569
Oh forgot one more thing...  will also be normalizing the output stream in realtime, so for the most part every song should play back at a similar volume level (there are some songs that play too soft, which should be fixed by normalizing output)
#1570
Just wanted to let people know about some upcoming improvements to Pcenginefx Radio.

- Station IDs are now being added to the stream, you will hear them every 10mins or so...and yah it's my voice :)

- Each song will be properly re-named so that you won't see stuff like Now Playing: "NEC - Track 1" (it will say what game and track it is from)

- More music will be added!

- Dynamic web page updating for the show listing what is playing, and what has been played

- Special nightly shows such as "HuCard Hour" or "Falcom Hour" playing songs from just that game area.....

Stay tuned! (Pun intended :P
#1571
Moved to the correct forum.
#1572
Quote from: evilmax17I'd really like to see an archive of all the available NEC commercials that are available.  USA/JP, TG-16/DUO, everything there is.

Good idea evilmax17...that is something I will consider (as well as other people's ideas)
#1573
Thanks for the post Jammaniaclord!  I didn't label the feature "part 1" for nothing :D  (there will be a part 2!)

News / pcengine-fx.com Update 10.14.04
10/22/2004, 08:03 PM
Quote from: cubanraulWhat'd you use to view/extract the images?  Is there a way to edit the images in the games as well?  I'm doing a translation of Dracula X and besides for the intro & level select the rest of the text is actually images (like the level name when you start a new level).  Anyway you can see the progress here:  http://www.shortfilms.tk/

Until I saw the "THE LOST TURBO GRAPHICS" section I really thought it was a lost cause to try and edit/view the graphics.

Hi cubanraul,

I can't go into depth right now, but the process is quite complex and I don't fully understand it, let alone trying to edit the gfx.  I will go into more depth when I get some time :)

What would you like to do with it?  Do you want to delete some saves?
#1577
Quote from: ZerojeanI thought you had the complete Turbo CD selection??

Sacrilage for not playing Valis 2 0r 3, 3 really has amazing music, really.

I do now :D  The last TurboCD that I needed was Terraforming and I just got it recently.  But I've not beat that many Turbo games.  I have tried out Valis, and the music isn't as good to me as other Turbo games, but that's because I grew up on Cosmic Fantasy 2, Dragon Slayer and Ys rather than Valis.
#1578
Just a little update to the PC-FX World site:

Added intro & gameplay videos for the following games:
- Tengai Makyo Karakuri Kakutoden (remastered both videos)
- Mahjong Goku Tenjiku
- Pachio-kun FX
- Shanghai: The Great Wall
- Super Real Mahjong PV FX
- Tokimeki Card Paradise

You can view the videos in the Game Overview section for each game.
#1579
Well I won the auction for the Terraforming....$155 :P  (but it was worth it!)  Now I have every TurboCD game! :---D

PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Re: :(
09/24/2004, 08:50 PM
Quote from: dpaint4I didn't know that.  It's the Curse of YS.  I imported my copy of Ark of Napishtim straight from Falcom, and with a free and easy-to-find patch, it runs perfectly on my English Windows XP machine.

Runs, but not translated into English right?
#1581
Wow my favorite games...............hmm...well, LoT of course, GoT.... but as for Hu's I love Bonk 2...the music in it is so good, sometimes I mistake it for redbook audio :O

Now on the flip side, how about games that you still need to play?  I've been wanting to get into the Valis series (never played either 2 or 3 yet!) and I want to play Dragon Slayer again...one of these days.

The PC-FX version of RTZ is a port from I believe the PC version, and is entirely in Japanese (including the FMV).

09/13/2004, 06:31 PM
Thanks dpaint4, jlued686 & turbonaut!  Now time to give my mouse hand a break!  I'm surprised I didn't get carpal tunnel syndrome from making all those pages...
#1586
Hi all,

The new PC-FX World site is now open!  Please note a few things before you visit:

- 95% of all of the GAME OVERVIEW videos are NOT working due to time...so please don't email me about broken links.

- If you do find a broken link that is NOT a video, image broken or info/spelling needing correction, please let me know.  I know there are still bugs in the site, so if you come across one, please email me.

- Lastly, enjoy the site...I've spent hundreds of hours on it, and I hope it is what you have been waiting for!

News / pcengine-fx.com Update 09.09.04
09/09/2004, 01:25 AM
Major news: PC-FX World now open!

Check out the site for other updates....
#1588
The PC-FX World site is in a VERY near state where I can bring it online.  I've pretty much been working non-stop on it over the past few weeks.  Here is the status of sections as of now:

Layout design: 100%
"main" section: 100%
"news archive": 100%
"system overview": 100%
"system manual": 100%
"game directory": 100%
"game reviews": 100%
"game language list": 100%
"game overviews": 100%
"codes & FAQs": 100%
"mp3s & videos": <removed, since the game overview section will have vids for every FX game>
"print articles": 100%
"print ads & media": <removed, and merged into the game overviews section>
"facts & rumors": 100%

So as you can see every section is pretty much in a done state.  I am now going over sections making sure everything works, correcting any spelling errors, adding any additional content, etc.

Expect the site to go live very soon!

Oh, the display controller is one of the chips inside of the unit...not an external device.  I think you would only see a difference if you had a game that was PCE/SG compatible (there are a few of those), but as for what the switch should be at, either one should be fine unless you see some weird video distortion going on.
#1590
Thanks for the description stevek666...I guess I need to start hunting for those ads :D

As for Zeroigar, footage of it is on the latest episode of PcenginefxTV if you haven't seen it yet...
#1591
The switch on the back of the SuperGrafx selects either PC-Engine compatibility mode or native SuperGrafx mode.  The switch was put there to support PC-Engine games that accessed the Video Display Controller in a certain fashion (I'm not sure how...I'm not THAT geeky :)

Yah, I too felt that the controls are a little clunky, but still enjoy the game....I still need to get all the way through it.
#1593
Thanks everyone for the suggestions for future shows!  I will seriously take all of your recomendations into consideration.

As for USA Turbo ads, even I don't really recall seeing any TV ads for the unit...however I *thought* that NEC had one or two TV ads for the Turbo, however I don't think I have them.  The only TV stuff I have are the info commercials for the TurboGrafx-16, TurboDuo, and TurboCD.

Feedback / PC-FX User List
09/04/2004, 01:25 AM
Yah, sorry about that.  My web host had a email server meltdown over the past 48hrs.  All is well now.
#1595
Ok, I just fixed the playlist and now it's looking good.  Let me know how you like the rotation now.  Currently, there are 350 songs in rotation, with a total of 4h23m of play time.  You shouldn't hear any repeats for at least 4 hours straight.
#1596
LOL (looking at their FX price list)....Chip Chap Kick! is for "adults only"??  Wow, where did I miss that???

Looking over their prices, they look pretty reasonable.  However I can't vouch for how "legit" they are.  I'm kinda surprised at how many FX games they have in stock.
#1597
Well, once the PC-FX World site is back online, we gotta get those GameFaq PC-FX boards corrected :D

Anyone remember the magazine NextGen?  If you do, remember that issue that had a run-down on all of the next-gen 32-Bit+ consoles?  They had the PC-FX on there, and they too had a comment in there that really upset me.  They said at the end of the article that "NEXT Generation will continue to cover products for the FX until it is possible to determine if anyone really cares."  It sounded like the magazine already didn't care about the PC-FX before it even came out..... :|
#1598
Oh hi Curtis!  Glad to see you hanging around here :D  Thanks for the offer to do more gfx for the site - I will for sure keep you in mind and will let you know if I need any work done.
#1599
Hi kaotik,

Thanks for the feedback!  I still need to install a smarter shuffle in Winamp, which should produce less repeats (on my to-do list).
#1600
AWESOME....thanks for letting me know.  I warn you though...I tend not to loose auctions if I want something :P heheh....
