Thanks spamcatch2004 & Jared4781!  I'm really glad that you guys liked the program.  It didn't take any money to do the program, just 24hrs/3 days of constant work on my part :)

Hi all,

The new PC-FX World site is now open!  Please note a few things before you visit:

pcengine-fx.com/PC-FX/

- 95% of all of the GAME OVERVIEW videos are NOT working due to time...so please don't email me about broken links.

- If you do find a broken link that is NOT a video, image broken or info/spelling needing correction, please let me know.  I know there are still bugs in the site, so if you come across one, please email me.

- Lastly, enjoy the site...I've spent hundreds of hours on it, and I hope it is what you have been waiting for!
#1603
Hi Dave, glad to see you at the Pcenginefx boards!

Well, you are a little early as pcengine-fx.com *will* have replay videos of PC-FX/PCE/Turbo games, but the PC-FX ones will be first and those won't be online till probably November.  The Turbo section will start development after that and probably won't be out till mid '05. :\

I've not heard of any site that really has much in the way of videos for the Turbo/PCE....but if I find one I will let you know.
#1604
LOL!  Yes, gotta love that strategically placed mist :)

CF2 was also one of my favorite RPGs when I was young.  I've not played it through again since then, but man, I loved the cut scenes (Babette is still cool!).

As for leveling up, I did the EXACT same thing....turn on the turbo button and just go through the battles...Tedious yes....just like what I did in Ys I & II (or was it IV?) when you go down to the basement of one villiger's house where he has the hole in the wall with monsters coming out.  Just hold down the spell button and shoot monsters for hours lvl'ing up.

I was so pissed about Laura though (did she die?  Or was she controlled by the bad guy?).  WHAT A JIP!  Van (and I) spent ALL that time just to not get the girl.  Man....I would have gone into depression if I was Van.

Quote from: spamcatch2004That site intially looked good until I start clicking the links. That site hasnt been updated in more than a year. GOOD GOD! I thought it was going to be a wealth of resources, but 1/2 the links dont work or they say COMING SOON.

Gotta say! pcengine-fx.com is deffinately the site to go to.

Aaron. Why dont you do what the other sites do and do the Moderator system so that we can maintain and update certain parts of your site so we can take some of the strain off your hands. I know this site is HUGE and its way too much for 1 person to handle efficiently.

Remember the "IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME" theory? Well its built, but "IF YOU UPDATE IT, MORE WILL COME". Let us help you out with this monsterous task of upkeeping the site. What do ya say?

I would very much like to off-load work to other people, however there a many reasons why I don't do this...with one being quality control. I am very much attached to my site(s) and I only trust myself to make sure that layouts, designs, graphics and content are to my standards and to my visitor's standards. Plus it can be a mess to manage content integration since I use a closed-HTML system, which doesn't cater to moderator systems outside of my own development computer.

The Turbo section will be back, and when it does, it will be the largest Turbo resource anywhere...you can quote me on that :)

08/14/2004, 11:32 AM
Quote from: jlued686Did something happen to the forums?  I posted a bunch of stuff in the last couple of days and it's all gone now.

Anyway, Episode 4 was great.  Keep 'em coming!

Yah, I we did have a day when the site and boards were offline a day or so ago...they might have been destroyed during that downtime :(

News / pcengine-fx.com Update 8.12.04
08/14/2004, 11:31 AM
Quote from: BakeBest episode yet... I thought the surprise in the turbo goods section was going to be the LT but that the turbo duo thing was neat... there can't be too many of those around.  Just out of curiosity, how many turbo games do you have?   I know there were like 134 released in the US and I'm sure you have lots of japenese titles as well.  I have like 55 to maybe 60 games last time I counted, but I think you'll shatter my record.  Keep up the good work man

Respect,
Ryan

Glad you liked the episode there Ryan!  Many people think that I have a bucket load of Turbo games, but actually I don't.  I would have a lot more if it wasn't for the PC-FX taking up all my money years ago....a handful of the FX games I have cost me over $200 each (a few over $300).  Now that I'm married, I can't spend nearly as much as I used to on games, but I'm still slowly building up my Turbo collection...I want to at least get all the US titles, which I still need one more SuperCD game (Terraforming) and about 25 more HuCards.
#1610
I'm really glad you liked the episode...I've been getting a lot of positive feedback from it.

I do have a background in video production...mostly VFX work for short films and such, but I can pretty much do anything related to video production....editing, mastering to DVD, DVD authoring, Visual FX, CGi, filming....you name it.
#1611
Work has finished on PcenginefxTV Ep. 4, and is now online for viewing.  I have gone back to the style and format of the first two episodes, but raising the production values a notch :D  Hope everyone likes the Turbo Goods section!

Yah, I saw turbografx-16.com last year and I thought I had a competitor for "most comprehensive" TG site...or at least a site that looked professionally done (I liked their design and theme), but yah, they haven't updated or have any of their big sections open.

Just to let you know, I do plan to bring back the TG/PCE section in full force, however don't expect it until next year...I'm focusing all my spare time on the remake of the PC-FX section, which is high priority at the moment with the upcoming emu.
#1615
Damn, wish they would have shown the back of that modded FX :(  Cool find though!
#1616
Funny that I should be using my own board for this :P

Anyway, I'm looking to buy the Terraforming US SCD....if anyone has a tip to where I could buy this online (retail wise), or if someone has one for sale, I'd be interested.  The only place that had the US version listed was at Telegames UK, and they are out of stock :(

Feedback / Good Idea, Bad Idea: Priceguide
08/06/2004, 11:58 AM
This topic has been brought to my attention many times in the past, and it is a good idea...The reason why I have never really created one is because the prices fluctuate so much; it is first hard to track prices based off of auctions, and really auction pricing isn't an accurate way to price a game...however auctions are the only way for us to really get a picture as to what things are going for so there aren't many other options.

I'd be willing to help out in this regard as well, either by submitting info, or hosting the page on pcengine-fx.com....whatever works...I'll leave it up to you guys since you brought it up.

Hi Spamcatch2004,

Thanks for the post and the comments.  I've actually been on the net with pcengine-fx.com since '96, and have already submitted a LONG time ago to every search engine you could think of.  I'd be surprised if a search engine didn't have my site listed by now.

I've also been a part of various online networks over the years, but I'm not really interested to rejoin any of them because that would mean putting up ads on the site and I wouldn't want to re-create my site layout just for that.

By all means, if you can help get the word out that pcengine-fx.com exists that would be great..I still get email from people that have never heard of the site, which is cool since I tend to think everybody who is interested in the content I provide knows the site already.  But ultimately, sites like mine, and every other turbo site out there cater to the retro gaming market, so I doubt that any sort of promotion could bring in a huge number of new people (but I guess it could happen).

With the return of pcengine-fx.com, comes the return of Pcenginefx Radio Live...This is a live-shoutcast stream playing a selection of tunes from various SuperCD, CD-ROM2 and HuCard games.

From the people that have been tuning into the stream, do you like the rotation of the music?  Like the selection?  Any music you would like to see included in the rotation?  Please post your comments/suggestions here!

I just got the final shipping version of Meteor Blaster:DX from MindRec today...did anyone else order the game yet?  If you haven't seen it yet, I have a video, screenshots and an interview with Bt on pcengine-fx.com.  I highly recommend that you purchase the game either from Bt @ Mindrec.com or from TurboZoneDirect (tzd.com) to support the cause!

It is SO awesome to have an English PC-FX site!!!

Glad you love PcenginefxTV :D  I do want to do another one here soon, but really don't know when I will find the time.  I'm currently working on the PC-FX World site and some new features for the upcoming months.  The main priority is the FX site as that will be even more important with the upcoming MagicEngineFX emu.

Quote from: JammaniaclordIn your links section, for Darkcityproductions.com, it says that the site is updated regularly, but it really hasn't been updated in a long time, and the message board has been down longer than the last update. I have messaged Darkman, but never got a reply. With his current status in his personal life going on, i am not sure when he will update again.

Still a neat site to goto, and Darkman always has neat things to add to his site to make it more fun. :D

Just thought i would mention that, and hope that he can get back to his site again.

Yah, Darkman is a personal friend of mine, and in fact we live in the same area.  He is having major computer problems, so don't expect updates anytime soon.  The site was usually updated, so I'm not going to change my link description (not a big deal anyway).

Hi spamcatch2004,

Look no further - as the site rejoins the land of the living on July 29th :D

As for the PC-FX picture, it has been replaced by the PC-FX machines in front of Tokyo Tower (at least until the 29th)....I will probably re-post these as people have told me that they really like these photos.

It has been announced that MagicEngineFX will be released on or around the 19th of November (same time as the new MagicEngine 1.0).  This is very exciting as this has been a long-time coming to the community and will rejuvenate interest into the PC-FX system, as well as allow people who couldn't afford the console to experience it.

Hello all,

Just an update on the status of pcengine-fx.com...it looks like we will (plan) to re-launch the site during the first week of Aug.  We are currently in stand-by mode waiting for Bt @ mindrec.com to release the new Super CD game Meteor Blaster:DX.  As soon as he does, pcengine-fx.com will be back up and kicking :D

They have been having major web host issues over the past few months (TurboList, MindRec & TZD) but everything should be back to normal now.

From TZD:

Can you believe it was ten years ago that TZD opened their doors for Turbo fans everywhere?

Believe it! It's been ten years since we first started, and to celebrate we're bringing back our most popular sale ever. Yes, BOGO is back! Nothing held back, this is your last chance to save big on new, unopened Turbo inventory.

Buy One Get One is simple. Purchase any item from our price list, receive any second item of equal or lesser value for 50% off. No limits, no product held back.

Here are the details: Sale ends Aug. 30, 2004. You must add 'BOGO' to the comments section of your on-line order. We'll adjust the total. If you place the order on the telephone or in the mail, be sure to say 'BOGO' me to get the discount. Item of equal or lesser value is 50% off. We reserve the right to refuse any order. International customers please email your request, we'll give you a total, as we can no longer accept credit cards outside the U.S. Don't wait, order today, everything is on sale, but there are limits to everything we have.

Please note that the brand new release from Mindrec "Meteor Blaster DX" is included in the sale, but a production delay means we will have to backorder that item, we'll ship them just as soon as they arrive.

And lastly if you haven't already, run, don't walk to your nearest magazine store to pick up the July issue #113 of Tips& Tricks magazine. Joe Santulli's Collector's Closet devotes a full page to our favorite game system, and we're told issue #114 will feature more about rare Turbo games.

Screen shots and ordering information for debit/credit, check or money order purchases are a click away!

PC-FX Discussion / What?
06/02/2004, 01:29 PM
Hi darkkenshin99,

Where did you get FXer?  Unless I was taken out of the loop, it is my understanding that FXer does not exist and has been long since dead and buried.

BTW, just to clarify, FXer is not related to the PC-FXGA in any shape, way or form.

-Rob

Hi Katsu,

I thought everyone has been to my site one time or another :)  Always glad to hear from new visitors though!  Sorry that I can't give you the "full tour" of my old pcengine-fx.com site, but this way you can experience the site better than ever.

ETA for the main site (excluding the PC-FX World site) is within weeks...

Hi Kaminari,

You keep hearing about FXer?  Where have you heard this?  FXer has been long-since dead, so I have heard nothing about this...

As for the site, it is not back yet - just the new board.  But soon.....

Hello all,

Just a quick update as to what is going on here at pcengine-fx.com:

 - Currently we are having lots of web server issues.  Our new host had a server meltdown and is still recouping from the crash.

 - If you didn't know by now, the pcengine-fx.com forum has a new address: https://www.pcengine-fx.com/phpBB.  The old board will be retired in late June replaced by the new and improved phpBB one.  If you had a member account with the old board, your username has been migrated to the new board, however you must re-configure your email address and password.  All passwords have been reset to "password" so please login with your username and this temp password and change it in your settings!

 - The main page of pcengine-fx.com has been tweaked for the re-launch of the site and we should be going live by the end of June.  Prepare for expanded/upgraded content and a brand-new game feature!

 - Lastly, work has just begun on the new PC-FX World site.  It is only 1% complete, but boy does it look AMAZING...I'm going to say that it is the most clean, professional layout I have ever done.  I don't want to show it just yet, but expect BIG things from the new PC-FX World site!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the post - sorry that the photo makes you sad...I've have yet to get to Tokyo myself but I should be visiting there and HK within the next 2 years (hoping!)

And as for the site, it will be a little bit longer than a few days, but it will be SOON....very soon.

Hi NEC Avenue,

Glad you like the forum!  I'm pretty pleased about moving to the popular phpBB boards and off of ezboard (which I had to pay for :?  But it works great this way since I don't have to pay for a board...I save money and I get a better forum  :P

So you'd like to see a general NEC forum?  Like what would you want to talk about?  (NEC electronics? The business?  NEC Avenue/Interchannel?)

Welcome to the PC-FX Sales & Trades area of the pcengine-fx.com forums.  Feel free to to post your PC-FX games & hardware or eBay auctions here, however you MUST follow these rules:

Expected Behavior
The Pcenginefx NEC Console Community Forums is a place to hold civil discussions about the NEC line of video game consoles. Heated debates on the forums are welcome, as long as they abide by the established guidelines (listed below). If an administrator or moderator sees that a thread or poster violates these guidelines, the thread may be closed or deleted, and posters may be permanently or temporarily banned from the forum no matter how long they may have been a member.

Transactions/Deals/Trade Policy
pcengine-fx.com is not responsible for any transaction, deal, auction or otherwise that is posted on this forum.  Please use common sense when dealing with people - ask for references, a web site, eBay feedback, talk on the phone, etc.  People have been scammed before, and though this is unfortunate, it does occur so deal at your own risk.  If a deal does go bad, pcengine-fx.com can ban the username(s) from this board and spread the word to other related Turbo forums/groups about the user, but this is the extent of pcengine-fx.com's participation in the matter.

Language
Sexual, racial, or ethnic slurs will not be tolerated in any form and are bannable on the first offense.  We also recommend that cursing be held to a minimum, as it does not promote civil conversation.  Foul language in the form of insults directed towards other forum members may result in a ban.
> Example violations (including, but not limited to): Referring Japanese people as "Japs".  If you want to talk about the Japanese, then spell it out completely.

Keep posts on topic
By posting in a thread, you are responsible for keeping the thread on topic.  Any reply to a thread may be deleted at any time, and without notice if it is determined that the reply doesn't contribute to the thread.
> Example violations (including, but not limited to): Replying with an image; replying with the words "me too!" or similar; derailing the thread to a topic not related to the original post.

No warez/ISO/ROM/P2P links
Posting or asking for warez/ISOs/ROMs & P2P links is prohibited on the forums and is grounds for a permanent ban.

Remember, as a member of this community, you agreed to the terms and conditions of the Registration Agreement when you signed on for this forum.  If you don't wish to follow the rules of this forum than leave.  You may review the Registration Agreement below - Please read it if you have forgotten what you agreed to abide by.

>>Is the same an extended pcengine/turbografx system ( cd and the others thing for be duo compatible ) than a turboduo system? ¿What of both are better compatible?

If I understand you right, you are asking if a Turbografx+CD is more/less compatible than the TurboDuo?  If you have the choice between the two, get the TurboDuo.  It will play the most types of Turbo games with less additional items to buy.

>>There are some hard-hacks for these systems? Where i can get it those?

Yes, there are hardware hacks for the system....but they are not all in one place so finding them isn't too easy...but here are a few links:

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~dfw/hackfaq">www-personal.umich.edu/~dfw/hackfaq
(really outdated FAQ...but has some info)

http://joyce.eng.yale.edu/~bt/turbo/turbo.cgi">joyce.eng.yale.edu/~bt/turbo/turbo.cgi
(files on the Turbo Mailing List..they have some hack faqs on there)

>>>What about protection zone of CDROM and cards? How i can use a protected zone card or cdrom on the system?

There is no copy protection on any Turbo/PC Engine game.  You do however need a converter if you want to play Japanese HuCards on a US system (and vice versa.)

>>>Have the CDROM some thing of protection? And the cards? How fix the console for can run at all ?

There is a hardware hack that will allow you to play HuCards from any region (see the hack links above) without a converter.

>>>What about the arcade card? Is valid for arcade CDs?

You just need the Arcade Card in your TurboDuo to play Arcade card CDs (if you have a US TurboDuo, you will need the HuCard converter to use the Arcade Card)

>>>There are backup unit of the cards? are difficult to get? Where get it these cards?

There are backup units for HuCards, but I think only 5 people in the entire world own them (in other words, impossible to get)

>>>What problems could have a Turboduo system (compatibility and others) are fixable these problems? How fix it?

No problems for a TurboDuo...you just need a HuCard converter to play any Japanese HuCard games or system cards and you are good to go.

>>>I can have a RGB output (scart)? is possible? how add it ?

It IS possible to have RGB output, but it is not easy, nor cost effective (not worth the effort or time).  You can find more info here:
http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/duoav.htm">www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/duoav.htm

>>>Where i can buy it a  pcengine/turbografx/turboduo system and accesories (including arcade card)? What of these are more cheaper ?

Since I recommend the TurboDuo, you can find those on Ebay and I know some online retailers carry them as well.  Expect to pay at least $200 for a TurboDuo.  Arcade Cards are around $50 or so....look around...I'm sure you will find a place to purchase them from.

>>>What level of compatibility have supergfx with the other systems ?

The SuperGrafx can play any SuperGrafx game, plus any PC Engine HuCard game.  It does have a CD attachment, but I'm not sure if it will play CD-ROM2/Super CDs correctly...

>>Is true that is possible use modified nes roms onto pcengine/turbogfx/turboduo systems?

If you are asking if you can play NES roms on your TurboDuo, I don't believe you can...I've not seen any NES emu for the TurboDuo.

>>>Is possible use the roms on a cdrom and be runned on cdrom system/turboduo?

There is a way to play ROMS off of a CD in a TurboDuo, but it is pretty complex.  Look up more info at:

More than likely, that is the correct number (or in the general area), however adding the CD based games will easily bring that number to over 2,000 (don't remember how many CD games were released off-hand)
