2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Saw some great stuff these past few nights from our place in Seattle - Mars (comes up to the East during the evenings), Jupiter (to the south/southwest), about 3 or 4 star clusters, Pleiades and a faint galaxy.

I'll move the text to one side anyway and remove it from center.

I'm currently in process of a site re-design and am taking new photos of the NEC consoles for the site.  Since I still had my shooting set still up I decided to make the below wallpaper:

If anyone would like the wallpaper, please let me know what size (largest size is 2560x1600) - thanks!

NEC took the original photo - it's the photo that has been around the net for decades and was one of the first promo photos of the PCE when it was released.
#407
Yah that's what I meant - for on the fly photography just can't be used.  I'm also finding that live view takes WAY too long to focus even on a controlled shoot, plus I don't need to use it anyway that much at least for focus as the Canon ST-E2 Transmitter acts as an auto-focus assist.
#408
The transmitter triggers the flash which was to the top left of the frame (and I only used the 580EX II for lighting).

Live View is nice, but only when shooting in video mode.  For shooting stills, it's really useless.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 09/06/2009, 09:56 PMWhat are you using for the "background"?  What is your camera setup again?  I recently bought a DSLR and it is my goal to defeat you!  :)
The background should have been just a white matte material, but I got away with using a 2'x2' reflective piece of fiberglass.  My camera setup is as follows:

Canon 5D Mark II: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/583987-REG/Canon_2764B004_EOS_5D_Mark_II.html
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/264304-USA/Canon_8014A002_Zoom_Wide_Angle_Telephoto_EF.html
Canon 580EX II Speedlite Flash: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/486706-USA/Canon_1946B002_580EX_II_Flash.html
Canon ST-E2 Transmitter: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/164264-REG/Canon_2478A002_ST_E2_Transmitter.html
Interfit STR103 Strobies Globe Diffuser: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/621592-REG/Interfit_STR103_STR103_Strobies_Globe_Diffuser.html

Pretty much just set up the console as close as I could to the original photograph but the part that took the most time was matching the shadow density & angle.  It's 99% there but I think my shadow has just slightly too much downward angle and my camera position could have been lowered slightly as well.

Was bored this afternoon and decided to do a quick re-creation of the original PCE promo photograph.  If anyone would like wallpaper versions of this image (without the original image) please reply in this thread with the size you want.  Enjoy.

True points there Vestcoat...for this lot though I'll stick with the 3 day schedule and see how it goes.
#416
The reason is that 5 days doesn't make sense when the majority of bidding occurs near the end of the auction.  This lot should end Sat evening.

You can't find Windancer because his account has been deleted (for reasons I do not know).

I'll see what I can do.

Feedback / Re: Forum Icons

Good suggestion.  Forum icons I could probably do.  Custom PCE-related smilies I don't have time for so someone else will have to make those up.  If anyone would like to take a stab at some, I'm open.

This thread is locked.  I am GREATLY disappointed with everyone involved from the forum about this topic which should have been 15 pages of discussion about this rare auction - NOT a flame war with fellow collectors from overseas.

We all should be mature enough to have civil discussions with one another without turning every damn topic into a war.  If you feel like you just have to make a rash or rude comment that could start a unnecessary war then don't post.  I don't ask for much so this should be a very simple request to handle by everyone.

The 2nd round of eBay auctions has ended (with Darkwing ending in a day).  Congratulations to the winner of Dynastic Hero and Bonk 3.  I was very surprised to see that Bonk 3 pretty much skyrocketed in price over Dynastic Hero.  For the record, auctions ended with the following results:

The Dynastic Hero: $504.00 (21 Bids, 29 watchers)
Ended: Jul 07, 2009 18:00:00 PDT
Sold to winner in Wilmington, DE

Bonk 3 (HuCard): $788.00 (21 Bids, 28 watchers)
Ended: Jul 07, 2009 18:05:00 PDT
Sold to winner in Reno, NV

I really didn't know just how high Magical would go - I was hoping at least maybe 2K so I am fortunate that it ended even higher than that.  I was also fortunate that I didn't have many (if at all) joke bidders which I appreciate.

To make the auctions on the forum less painful, the following changes have been made to the forum:

- Added a Quick Reply area to the bottom of the thread
- Removed timeout requirement between posts
- Removed warning message about a reply has been posted
- Changed default behavior after replying to a thread to "return to post"

Yes I will ship overseas.  Again, if the auction goes over $50, shipping will be included.
#435
Not a mistake.  Beyond Shadowgate is what is advertised on the back of the manual.

Ok I've disabled the warning for next time, and also added a Quick Reply area at the bottom of the thread.  This was the first forum auction so there was bound to be issues.
#440
I'm seeing right now if I can disable the warning...

Sorry about that Press_Run!

Auction has ended.  Dalder won the auction as his bid was posted before time ran out.  Congratulations!

I want to give a HUGE THANKS to everyone who has clicked on a banner in the past few months.  Please keep it up as it has started to ease a little bit of the cost of running the site.  Thank you again!

New time for auction end is 10PM PST tonight (Wends).

Sorry about your past experience here mrhaboobi - glad you came back.

I've been toying around with selling off my main collections (TG & PC-FX) for a long while now.  The main reason I've not taken any action on this is because of my loyalty to the site and community I have built & supported over the years.  Being who I am, everyone expects me to have everything and more - but recently my wife and I have been seriously thinking of having a child and due to now having to pay for 2 mortgages, I've decided to unload some of my collection to help out financially and to make room in our house (my game collection takes up an entire bedroom which the wife would like back).

I do have various loose bits (manuals, game sleeves, boxes, etc) that I'll unload at some point as well (most likely on the forums).  All I can say right now is to keep watch on the forum.
#448
Thanks for all of the luck :)  Yes, I will be selling DUO & TG-CD games as well.
#449
Nec: I do not have dupes of any rare games.  And even though I wish that the sealed games remain sealed, I won't ban you or come to your house in rage if you crack the seal :)

The eBay user that Necromancer mentioned is correct.  Looking at his history he has 34 bid retractions in the past 30 days.  He was trying to find out what the high bid was on the auction.
