@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Very cool update! I've always salivated at the thought of playing through this one.
#2
I did the same and was shocked I watched a full hour, but it was great. I remember preordering Lords of Thunder from Die Hard Gamefan - I was calling my house from a payphone a couple times while out asking if it had arrived yet. I couldn't get home fast enough to throw that thing into my Turbo CD.
#3
This thread reminded me of how I used to have a couple of these. I had the Splatterhouse one (sadly with a chip in it) and a TV Sports Football one. I left my TV Sports one at work overnight and it was stolen. argh!
#4
So cool! I love stuff like this.
#5
hnnngggggg my body is beyond ready

Another favorite for me is Power Golf 2 - best 16-bit era golf sim there is. Hands down. It doesn't get talked about much, probably because it's golf hahah

Psycho Chaser, Paranoia and Psychic Storm

no idea why they all start with 'P'

I'm just thankful there are enough of us sane folk to make sure the people who work on these projects know they are appreciated and we are indebted to them for bringing these translations to us. :adol:

Super necro-bump [kind of fitting, given the game]

I don't have a great score to post.

Just normal mode - 291,600

The main reason I bumped it was because I never really played this game for score. But after seeing some people milk the embryos for score it got me interested. I also once accidentally died after beating the final boss due to a falling stone - doubling the score for beating him. It seemed there were tons of fun ways to exploit the score of this game I never considered.

I hope this story has a happy ending - I've always loved that site. Good looking out Nightwolve!
#12
Ahahah noisy, stupid, little brats. Ignore him/them.

I'll never understand people like this, complaining about awesome people sacrificing their time for free.
#13
I hold the PCE in higher regard than NES/SNES/Gen - so while I can tolerate custom paint jobs on those consoles, I see the PCE family as flawless and in no way something that should be painted.
#14
also, just avoid sealed copies and buy one that shows of a photo of the disk [sans PCEW logo] done

Speaking of things getting "pricey"

You know what's weird? Playing Time Cruise II on your Everdrive and looking at your games and going, "hmmm, I don't think I actually own this one...weird. Let's hop online and grab that one." Only to find out it's a $70+ game now?!!! WTF is happening? I know this is the same old complaint from those of us who've been into these games for years...but seriously. This is outta' hand.

Quote from: Keith Courage on 04/28/2018, 05:15 AMI do not own one of these but I'm curious as to why people are complaining about sound being heard during loading sequences. Especially since the original systems have noise over the audio during the time the CD drive needs to access something as well. So if anything it's more authentic.

Anyone have audio issues with theirs? Just watched this review and the audio problems sounds pretty bad. Turns me off from the idea of buying one of these.
(Skip ahead to time 7.00 for audio issues)
I have my system hooked into a receiver and out to some pretty damn nice speakers. I turn my system up pretty loud as well because I play a ton of Lords of Thunder repeatedly. I am using a standard white PCE with this and cleaned the EXT BUS pins profusely. I get faint buzzing during the game loading from the main menu and some games I will slightly notice a tiny buzz if things in the game are silent. As far as the issues with CD audio levels being distorted or overly loud...I haven't run into that yet. But I do know that is something they plan on correcting with a future FW update. The thing is incredible and can't recommend enough.

Quote from: Everblue on 04/18/2018, 03:06 AMI was just about to pull the trigger on this when the MLiG video was released. I am a bit worried now due to the picture noise and the various audio issues. Anyone used one of these with a Framemeister? Any particular issues?
I use a Framemeister with mine on a 55" TV - original white PCE + retrogamingcables.uk RGB cable

Audio noise is really only noticeable when the card is accessing. As I've stated before...clean the hell out of your EXT BUS before hooking this up and it helps with audio noise. Visual noise is case-by-case. It's not something I would EVER really notice or complain about. If you have scanlines on it's even less noticeable. Even as-is, with the "complaints" I'm seeing online and the concerns in the MLiG video it's still one of the coolest things I've bought in ages. Love it. Highly recommended!

Quote from: Groover on 04/03/2018, 07:59 PMThis is a really cool product. I'm just waiting for the revision that works out all the kinks.

I'm happy to hear they are listening to the community and improving the product.
I'm just worried that might not happen the ways things are going right now. I'm glad I got in on one - especially if they pull the plug on the project altogether. I love mine so far.
#19
This reminds me that I need to play some PCE and drink tonight. Pics to follow
#20
Turborip is awesome - Nightwolve is awesome - that is all
#21
Yes, thanks for the update/hope

Very excited about this!

Makes me all the more hesitant to sell ANYTHING, in fears it will be damned to an eternity on some goober's shelf. Yes, I realize it's on THIS goober's shelf....but I play them and I talk to them...and caress them.

Quote from: Trenton_net on 02/14/2018, 10:40 AMI can sympathise with peoples feelings, but if collecting makes him happy I can't really argue with that. He has just as much a right to disagree with us, as we have a right to disagree with him.
Not a fan of this argument. I feel it's OK to disagree with people when a universal truth contradicts them. I can't sympathize with holocaust deniers or flat earthers...because they are just wrong. Same goes with collecting sealed games - it's wrong
#25
I plan on hunting as many of these down for you as possible. I will make sure to buy sealed versions - then, I will open them all and not sell them to you. I will buy repeats and do my best to remove as many sealed games from circulation.

Congrats

Also, that's a LOT of words to say, "I don't really know what I am talking about and I don't have one, nor am I buying one and I don't even have an RGB monitor"

Quote from: Gypsy on 01/25/2018, 10:15 AMTurns out this thing is a total piece of shit. Hope no one here bought one...
hahahaha OK

Not sure when mine will get here - but I will report back. Not too worried about it, honestly. I have a JP21 RGB cable for my Megadrive 2 I am anxious to test out. I'm aware of the dangers of early adopting, especially indie hardware.

I keep missing these on YAJ or get out-sniped. Ebay is $$$$ as we all know. Someone have one they could let loose?
#31
Is the bonehead/nerd that got a refund from Terraonion on these boards?
#32
Not speaking of DE2, but DE1 - I didn't know of one, but I also don't know everything. It would be amazing if there were a soundtrack with chip and arranged versions.
#33
So, there was another thread that was loosely about this game from awhile back, but it was kind of...not related. So i thought I'd start a new one. I'm sure I'll have more questions as time passes on this one anyway, and this is good place to dump them on you guys.

Question:

How the HELL do I view the map?! I'm using the Bros Duomazov guide [which is great, honestly] but they reference checking the map, which I am 90% sure I've acquired. They just don't mention where in the menus you access it. ???
#34
Quote from: turboswimbz on 01/04/2018, 03:39 PMTHAT LOOKS GREAT.

I always wanted to try to make it through Uta II.

ALso bonus points for PCEngine gamer and TG-16 pixcelent books!
I'm only a couple hours maybe into Uta II - lots of grinding, so we'll see if I make it all the way through...BUT I'M GONNA' TRY! The guide is bare bones but works. This reminds me, I need to get through Blood Gear soon too.

Sidenote: Riot does not mess around when it comes to cutscenes. I am also finding this game to be pretty ahead of it's time in terms of soundtrack. Using Brothers Duomazov's guide. The beer was good, lot's of coconut and vanilla. Paired nicely ;)

Ah man... You gotta drink St. Bernardus from a St. Branded glass. That is one of my faves.

I really don't like Bourbon beers. They are usually too boozy for beer. I would rather just drink real bourbon.
I have WAAAAYYYY too many Belgian beer glasses, and yes totally agree. Glassware is extremely important.

No such thing as too boozy my friend. But I feel ya
#37
hahaha i forgot I even wrote this

Hindsight - totally aware of the time involved. I was more curious about motivation. I've actually worked on a couple PCE projects that fizzled. I think  if people were getting PAID they would not have. I have only worked on the art side of things, which takes considerable time, but nothing compared to script/programming, honestly. As far as art is concerned I could do it in my "free time" - but I don't think the same could be said for other aspects of production.

And yes, BT is absolutely correct. Move along people - nothin' to see here.
#38
Let's say someone wanted to fund a translation. Just text, not a dub

Let's say this person was offering to pay for this to happen...what kind of money would make this worthwhile? I'm just curious. I know it depends on the game. But for example's sake, let's say Dragon Knight & Graffiti.

What would be the time frame, how many people needed, projected hours and so on?

Just curious...drinking

If you're still looking for a war sim with straightforward battles and you like Shining Force, you might want to try Sword Master and Solid Force.[/quote]
Oh man. This. So much better.
#40
That's incredible. Yeah the translation didn't even feel broken really. Just rushed. Totally passable honestly, in hindsight. There were a few head scratchers in the game but like.i said it's amazing that it came from someone who didn't know Japanese!

It's not a glitch. It's protection from evil Westerners.
Nah, sounds more like a glitch. This kind of thing could get anyone.

Also, gaijin protection is a real thing and I doubt Telnet ever used it. They weren't in a position to want to.
I want to know more about this gaijin protection? Is there like, some known games that did this. Intentionally?!

In terms of Startling Odyssey 2 - who all fought that optional boss?

Did you make much sense of Tru's machine translation ?
ehhhh, it wasn't great, but it was enough to keep going. The presentation in the game is what kept me hooked.

Yeah, I just got done playing it for a bit - definitely the start of something. I wonder how long it is?
