Some pics are up and I'll put the rest up tomorrow. For those people asking me about the XE-1PRO FC and XE-1ST2 I'm only interested in trades for now. I'll trade for MSX games and hardware, XAV-2s...

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable. |

Show posts MenuQuoteWhat good games are on this console?I know most of the arcade ports. Mahou Daisakusen, Kyukyoku Tiger, Samurai Spirits, Operation Wolf, Outrun Turbo, Viewpoint. My fav is Image Fight and Tatsujin II. Mahou Daisakusen would be first on my list but it's no compatible with the Marty. You can also find a bunch of falcom RPGs, enhanced scumm games, and plenty of Amiga ports too.
Quote from: esteban on 06/28/2008, 08:19 AMHey Smrifnack, there used to be a few of FM-Marty folks at the forums over here. What stinks is that the forum has changed several times over the years and I think we lost a lot (all) of the old threads (they had a lot of good info in them). I could be wrong, but I was trying to find some old stuff and it was no longer there.Yeah, I did post some recordings of the Splatterhouse's cd audio a while back but the links are expired now. I can't retrieve them anymore.
I too, think the Marty is worth it for a handful of games.
How is the music in Splatterhouse? Any chance you could record it for us (I don't mind an analog recording)?
I feel like I've asked someone to do this before... rolins, was it you?
Quote from: ceti alpha on 06/25/2008, 08:52 AMRolins, that sucks about your parents getting sucked into the US real estate collapse. But it seems like your parents made out better than some. And enjoy the financial security of living at home and save some coin. Lots of my friends have done that - I've done that. lol. That's what parents are for.
Quote from: esteban on 06/25/2008, 10:56 PMDude, that is crappy. I hope everything works out for you guys. All of my friends have been trying to live more frugally, for various reasons... thankfully (?) I've been able to stick to a very modest budget for the last year. One of these days I'm going to splurge and buy an mp3 player, dammit. Thanks guys. Yeah, I plan to take it easy for a bit and watch my coffer get fatter. Though I better find a job soon, I can only mooch off my parents for so long. I'm praying for the day I'll move back to Cali. I seriously don't like it here in Vegas, people here give you more attitude than Angelenos.
Quote from: esteban on 06/25/2008, 10:56 PMYeah, now that I'm back on the east coast, I am able to visit my parents all the time and NOTHING has really changed with them. It really feels like a time-warp... back to the old daysI can relate. My dad is a mild pack-rat. He doesn't want to throw anything way even if something is partially broken. The object would have to be shattered into tiny pieces for my dad to consider it thrash. If you were to see our garage we have boxes full of broken kitchen appliances, old knick knacks, TVs, chandeliers, fans, chairs, picture frames, candle holders, etc. The crap just keeps building every year. Not much I can do since he gets angry everytime I suggest downsizing his crap. I even mentioned donating the partially broken TVs and furniture to goodwill for the tax write off. After so many arguments, I gave up and let him do what he wants. My dad keeps saying he's storing it all for me when I branch out and have a family of my own. Gee, thanks dad.... They are still using an ancient bottle of aspirin that expired in 1991 (I think it was a bottle that I left at their house). With each passing year, my dad uses a handful of Q-tips, thereby ensuring that I will inherit them (he bought a carton of 250 Q-tips at some point in the 80's). I opened up a jar of "OxyPads" a month or two ago... I swear I bought them when I was in middle school / high school, which was well over 15 years ago.
Why do my parents still have all of "my" old stuff?
Of course, my dad has his old Brill Cream from the 50's or 60's lying around somewhere, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Quote from: esteban on 06/25/2008, 10:56 PMSadly, I've been playing most of my games on my friggin' cell phone. Neo Gradius and Might & Magic have provided some long-term enjoyment, despite the crappy buttons, controls. Yeah, I've sunk to a new low.Neo Gradius? I wish I can get that on my phone but it's too low end. It gets crappy games and I crave shmups. Galaga and asteriods doesn't really help much to fill the void.
As for old DOS games, I recently revisited BLOCKOUT... I friggin love that game. I thought I'd quickly get sick of it (I overplayed it back in the day), but I didn't get sick of it...
Which reminds me, I've been wanting to check out Betrayal at Krondor (DOS) for a few months now, simply because I was curious about thisunreleased TG-16 game. I don't know anything about the author, or Riftwar, so I thought it might be a fun place to start.
Quote from: 16-bit on 06/18/2008, 11:19 PMI'll agree my price is high but it is also the best condition one I have ever received. It has probably never been used.Hell ya the price is unreasonable. In the past 2 years, I purchased two joysticks the XE-1PRO ST2 and FC model. I paid in range of $40 - 47 and they were both minty and complete. Even on YHJ they're still being sold for that much. The condition of your joystick at most is worth $50, but for $99.95 you seem to expect the buyer to pay for all fees that it took to import it. Not to mention to add $15 to domestic shipping. I can't understand why $15 for USPS priority, while you could do better with USPS Priority flat rate for $9.80 and the boxes are free.
I'm often willing to negotiate on prices especially if it is outside of ebay.
QuoteEMS shipping on a boxed joystick to america is going to run 4000 yen which is going to put the shipping cost at $40.$40 for EMS is kinda high if your importing just one of these sticks. They weigh a little over a pound and normally whenever I purchased one straight from Japan, I was only charged $30 for EMS. Perhaps the person sending these to you is cheating you out of the S&H. Though I get it if your paying extra fees if your going through some middle man.
QuoteAlso Rollins, $25 for an XHE-3?!?! :ouch: If anyone else is looking for one, Ive got a mint boxed one for $15 shipped priority mail.Well when I purchased it I paid $25, but I had no idea they've gone down in worth. Still I don't think I charged overly high. Though I'm also willing to negotiate on some prices, but the buyer of this never complained.
Quote from: nectarsis on 06/16/2008, 03:04 AMARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH : XE-1PRO HE - $45 SOLD HOW did I miss thisWell you have another shot on ebay. 16-bit is selling one for $99.95 :ouch:![]()

Quote from: Digi.k on 04/17/2008, 07:14 PMif I could have a 2nd power it would be the ability to create dopplegangers .. that way I could take out all my enemies at the same time bwhahahahahaI was thinking the same thing. The ability to make duplicates of myself like Multiple Man.
Quote from: CkRtech on 03/30/2008, 11:22 PMruninruder - Excellent pull! Man....I am tempted to just start my own Compile website. You might say I am tempted to compile a Compile website. .....wow. That was terrible. In any case - there should be a better "go to" resource for Compile. I pretty much have to just jump around to get my information (though Hardcore Gaming 101's write-up is useful).Hardcore Gaming 101 is a good source on Compile game, but it has 2 bits that needs editing. I've been trying to contact the maintainer of the site but obviously doesn't like checking email.
QuoteTo take advantage of the superior power of the MSX2, Compile released Zanac EX, a remake of the original. For all intents and purposes, it's almost exactly the same as the NES game, although the graphics are a bit different.Zanac EX is not a remake. It's a direct squeal to the original MSX1 version. Same applies to the Zanac on the FC/Nes since it's essentially the same as Zanac EX.
QuoteLike many Compile titles, Golvellius originated on the MSX. The structure is somewhat similar to the Sega Master game, but the level layout is entirely different. The biggest annoyance is that, when you get hit, Kelesis will freeze in his spot, vulnerable to further enemy attacks - most of the time you end up dying from a single enemy encounter. Somewhat lame.Moron didn't even bother to actually play the game. Otherwise, he would know that until you pickup the Zest Boots you'll always freeze when an enemy hits you.
Quote from: CkRtech on 03/30/2008, 10:48 PMInteresting to note that Sylphia - a game I didn't pursue due to the lack of information out there for it compared to say...Zanac or Aleste - is actually a subject of a debate among various people. Is it or is it not a Compile game? Weird....Sylphia was def on the Compile game history page before the cache was taken down. It's enough to convince me but as Tatsujin mentioned we don't know which Compile members contributed to the game. Compile did alot of subcontracting work for companies like Sega and PonyCa, and sometimes failed to add their names to the credits.
Quote from: runinruder on 03/17/2008, 09:49 AMLast Armageddon - Oh lord, I think I've already written a book complaining about this one. It was a huge success in Japan, and it was made by the same folks who produced Efera & Jiliora, a personal favorite of mine. I thought I was in for a treat. Oh, man... Painful. What i disliked the most about this game was the lack of good music. The original PC-8801 & MSX2 port had an awesome soundtrack, but sadly most of it was taken out of the PCE port.
Quote from: turbokon on 03/10/2008, 12:19 AMHard as hell, never got past the 2nd stage. I love the soundtrack for the first 2 stages so far.One my favs too but I didn't think it was that tough. The bosses in this game are quite easy & predictable.
Quote from: Tatsujin on 03/09/2008, 01:39 AMthat damn console is a damn bad ass and even can't be found easly in japan (except for yahoo.auction). most of the 2D arcade games are almost 1:1 ports. The arcade ports are great, and they also come with redbook audio. Some with remixed tracks too. The shmups on the system is the only reason I would want one though, but all the vertical shmups are in wobble mode. Not exactly the easiest way to play those games.
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 03/04/2008, 11:59 PMYou don't like Golden Tee? I thought it was crap too at first sight because it's a golf and I don't play sport games. But having played the game for years, it's easily the best sport game in the arcade. The controls are easy to learn and you don't need to know the rules of golf. Very simple gameplay and extremely fun if you're competing against a buddy.QuoteSeriously, you need to play Golden Tee. It might change your mind.I seriously hope that is a joke. I like many sports games (virtually nothing "pro" or licensed though) but Golden Tee is one step up from a redemption machine.
Quote from: Seldane on 03/04/2008, 01:20 PMSports games are shit by default. There are NO exceptions!Seriously, you need to play Golden Tee. It might change your mind.
Quote from: turbo D on 03/03/2008, 02:20 AMI had played some resident evil on a friends ps2. I loved the game but hated the controls. Perhaps I should buy a wii so I can finally play this game.I thought the controls were easy on the PS2, actually better than the previous installments. On the Wii it just looks much more entertaining. I'm really trying to push myself to get a Wii this year. I have the money but something more desirable always pops up.
Quote from: rainbow_bright on 03/03/2008, 04:12 AMQuote from: rolins on 03/03/2008, 12:40 AMI find it funny to watch the kid throwing temper tantrums. The world would be a boring place if we couldn't watch our idoits for shit & giggles.Would it? idiots, who can't spell idiot?
Quote from: gekioh on 03/02/2008, 12:30 PMAnd though its not a cave port- dont forget about Mushihimesama- that game RULEZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!What do you mean? Mushihimesama was developed by CAVE silly. I agree that Mushihimesama was awesome including Ibara too, but DOJ and Espgaluda were arcade perfect.
Quote from: esteban on 03/01/2008, 09:47 AMYeah, i know this game. It's called Formation Z.Quote from: td741 on 02/29/2008, 08:34 AMNope, but I loved Thexder. Great game. The game I'm thinking of is prehistoric compared to Thexder and especially Kitsune's.Quote from: esteban on 02/28/2008, 09:02 PMThere is some old Famicom game I have that allows you to run on the ground, as a Mech (robot) shooting stuff, but you can also transform into a jetplane and fly around like a traditional shooter.Thexder? http://geocities.com/thexderhome/thexder.htm
If that's the game, it was released for a whack-load of systems. I had the TRS-80 CoCo3 cartridge version.
The game I'm thinking of starts in a bland "desert" of brown ground and orange fields of sand (dominant feature) and some blue sky. I'm not sure if this game was released in the States.
Quote from: turbo D on 02/26/2008, 12:19 AMThe Beeshu Ultimate SuperStick actually has a clicky stick. The buttons feel like sanwa arcade buttons.Interesting. Can you post photos of the innards?
