Oh, and to Banana, the MSX2 is a computer, not a console.   They are a bit on the pricey side to get a solid one...and are not USA native... (japan, europe, south american areas...)  which makes the hunt a bit tricky!

Took me 6 months to locate a sound purchase of one.

So true the MSX is a computer and should not be confused with a game console.

XE-1 Pro FC joystick

Great find these are fantastic arcade sticks. I built an adaptor so I could use mine with my NES toaster.
I highly recommend swapping the 30mm ball top with a 35mm one from Sanwa or Seimitsu. Also it'll benefit with some re-greasing, it's an old stick even if it's mint and unused the grease might be all dried up by now.

Yeah it is a nice joystick i got it from 16bit on ebay there.Though i found out it won't work on my famicom av sad to say.I need either a original famicom or the sharp twin famicom to use it.Though this isn't a rare case either where some third party controllers will not work on a famicom av.I talk to sensei about it and,he mention even the joyball will not work on it.Oh well i been thinking about getting a twin famicom for backup use any ways.

That's strange, I wonder why it doesn't work?
Oh well...plug it into the 7pin controller ports instead. Those I know are identical to the NES pinout and from there that joystick should work. You'll need to build an adaptor though which is piece of cake. Trust me you're only dealing with 5 wires here. Here's the one I built, I hacked off the cord from a nes pad and wired the end to a DB15 male connector.

Playing Ikari Warriors for the arcade pcb and MSX2 port. Having a blast playing the arcade pcb, I really need to put together a second CP with a LS-30 joystick. My friends are anxious for some 2player action.

As for the MSX2 port, I really had high hopes for this one. The graphics are nice but whoever ported this did poor job with everything else.

Second that. I have fond childhood memories going to CEC for Street Fighter II, Road Blaster, Sunset Riders. Last time I went to a CEC they toned down their arcades, mostly racing games = garbage.

Ikari Warriors CP - My HRAP2 didn't have enough space to mount a LS-30 joystick. So I bought a used joystick enclosure that had a 3inch clearance, a perfect fit for the LS-30. I installed some yellow happ buttons, white yenox buttons, and hole plugs that bought from LizardLick.

Did you have any idea where I can get an MSX2 console? Never seen one.

Ebay and Yahoo Japan Auctions are the quick places to check. Risingstuff.com has a MSX2 Panasonic FS-A1 for sale but it doesn't include a disk drive. I suggest you look out for a japanese MSX2 with an included disk drive. They're are also european MSX2 models but you'll need a voltage transformer and PAL to NTSC converter to use them.

i still like to hook up all my things via RGB, but since it's so damn hard to find a RGB-CRT over here (hard to believe but true), i'm just fine with s-video for the time being.

I always thought japanese TVs came with JP21pin for RGB are common like composite video...

I have 2 loose cartridges by the very awesome T&ESOFT: Super Laydock and Hydlide 3 (MSX2 version). Both are without boxes and manuals, but the cartridges in very good condition. Looking to trade for other loose MSX cartridges but your welcome to offer money.

Super Laydock is probably one the best vertical shooting games for the MSX. Definitely one of my personal favorites.

Hydlide 3 is RPG and one of the most challenging.

I started out with a Radioshack 30/15w iron too. It was fine for padhacking and assembling arcade sticks. I don't particularly like the bulky rubber handle and the shaft is little long for my taste. When I wanted something better, I went for a Hakko Dash 15w iron. They're absolutely great soldering irons with a nice slender handle and shorter shaft. They're only $25 at Fry's Electronics whcih cost more than Radioshacks, but still inexpensive.

Their spool tip cleaner is also great, no need for a damp sponge. Just quickly jab the soldering tip into the spool and it cleans the tip. Never though about getting a desoldering gun w/ bulb. I always went for cheaper stuff, desoldering braid and solder suckers for me only.

should i get a 25w and a 15w gun? are these all the things i'll need here, soldering irons, desoldering irons, picks, strippers, crimpers... is it better to use silver solder for stronger contacts?

If you're projects limited to only console modding and padhacking, I 'd say the 15w will be best. A 25w will work just as well though. Yes, wire strippers is an important tool...crimpers? if your project requires it.

I never used silver solder before, is it more expensive? I always bought plain 60/40 rosin core with 0.22mm or 0.32mm diameter for all my projects.

The HRAP2 will work with a PS3. You can use the Pelican PS2 -> PS3 adaptor and it'll work without lag...or so I've read. I don't own a PS3 btw.

I own a HRAP2, great stick and easy to replace the parts if you want Sanwa and Seimitsu.

My supergun arrived in the mail today. Worked out great with the MV-1C and Metal Slug X I just bought. Very compact and clean, looks professionally made too. It's missing features, but for a newbie it should suit my need perfectly. I'll definitely need to buy a jamma extender harness because it's too tight to remove it off the pcb sometimes. I'm afraid of breaking the edge connector.

Great buy. You might want to look into modifying it to accept scart instead of jp21 RGB cables. Scart cables are easier to find for your consoles and definitely cheaper than the japanese counterparts. I have the non-plus 2 model that's modded for scart, and it's the most important piece in my video game setup.

The seller just got new negatives, so in total with mine he now has 5 negatives. Since the feedback is now set to private, cant check to see what is stated. Quoth tried to check his last auctions as of late that ended around the time mine did, but those winners did  not leave feedback, as of yet. Basically means the new negatives are coming from others he screwed prior to me.

Who's idea was it to allow users to hide feedback? That's really retarded. Looking at a user's total feedback percentage is just not enough to gauge a seller's honesty and reliability. If the seller has negatives I need to know why because not all negatives are always horror stories. Some comment are about minor goofs that either the seller or buyer did. Not huge deal for me and that wouldn't stop me doing business with them. I don't mind covering bid history but the comments should be public.

Sorry to hear that especially being close to the holidays. But good to hear that you and your family are okay.   When my house got robbed many years ago, we couldn't afford those home security systems. So we put up iron bars around windows and steel doors in the front and back entrances. Don't know it's enough to deter robbers, kinda looks ugly on the house, but they definitely makes it tougher to break in.
