Trying a hobby shop is a good idea. They should have fitting screws available.
I measured mine using calipers. Thread diameter x screw length. The head doesn't count for length.
Unless you're using countersunk screws, where the head counts.
Japanese hardware is usually made in metric dimensions.

On my Turbo Duo controller, there are five screws:
Self tapping screw pan head 2mm x 8mm
The following screw set of ten pieces, suitable for two controllers, should have the same dimensions:
Tamiya 50573 2x8mm Tapping Screw (10 Pcs) MSRP $2.20

I'll have a look at the screws of my Turbo Duo and Coregrafx controllers tonight to see of their screw sizes match Tamiya's 3mm self tapping screws for plastic.

My experience started with Super Monkey Ball 2 on the GameCube. Years later, I bought part 1.
I still love playing Monkey Target 2. Also, playing the first set of levels of Monkey Ball 2 in multiplayer is stupendously popular on parties where lots of beer is involved.

I once saw similar things happening at classic-zone.de retro gaming forum roughly ten years ago. One or two guys started an argument with the administration team for pretty stupid things, then created their own forum circuit-board.de and began advertising it heavily via both posts as well as PM to entice Classic Zone members away. They also stole content from the console modding section of Classic Zone, not just text but also photos and schematics.
Classic Zone has been closed down for some years now. Sad.

Regarding pricing, it is usually what is out of stock and had a rather limited print run is going up in price.
Like if there's a Anime TV series splitted into several volumes, usually the last ones can be pretty pricy. Or if there's a collection box, the whole box is expensive. Releasing a TV series that spans more than half a year of episodes (20+) is usually a not really fortunate deal for distributors in markets outside of Japan. They have a hard time selling all of the volumes in English speaking countries, and for small markets like Germany, the local distributors are even facing more difficuilties. Even seemingly safe bets such as Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and Naruto aren't that easy to sell, thanks to them being rather long series. Which is unfortunate, since I would like to see a re-issue of the Kimagure Orange Road releases.
Single movies or releases that span no more than two or three volumes seems to have been less affected by rising prices, they are rather going down over time and can be had pretty cheap. My guess is that distributors have an easier time getting a large print run of these to sell successfully.
Another factor is that subbed-only releases are harder to sell to the mass market. The average Joe doesn't walk into a store for a subbed-only anime, he rather takes something that includes a dub, regardless if that dub is good or bad. Subtitles and the original Japanese language track are an afterthought for him, even if that feature is more important for people like us.

One thing that came up to my mind when I had my Duo opened up last time is that the wire harness between the moving laser and the main PCB might be able to get stuck on the PCB-attached plastic shield that it is traveling on back and forth.
