Have you ever found an unexpected Spine Card?

I was opening the manual for Xanadu II to check for something and out fell a slightly battered but complete spine card!

This is the second time this has happened, once with the Japanese Version of Exile II from an American seller...

Has anyone else had the same or a similar experience?

It is common for people to the spine cards into the manual after opening a new game. I'd say about 50% of my used imports have come this way.

Spine cards are all but useless, however, so I usually either throw them away or throw them in a drawer when I get them.

I somehow managed to get the spinecard for Avenger before I ever got the game!  No Idea how that happened.  LOL

A few of my Laseractive games treated me with hidden spine cards, both Blue Chicago Blues (JB Harold) and Road Prosecutor had them tucked in with the disc.

Like Nat said, expect to find this with lots of games. I chuck mine as well, mainly out of total contempt for collector types. I only keep them if they say something neat (like CvS2 for DC).

My copy of Macross: Flashback 2012, which I bought new, had an obi that was like a little triangular hat that went on the corner. I sold it on eBay for $5, mainly just as an experiment. It did bring the net cost of the LD down $5, from $95.

This was my reaction as well. I'm indifferent as to whether they need to be included in a game, but its a nice easter egg.

Yep, have found plenty of unexpected spine cards, usually hidden inside a manual.

My best unexpected freebie was when I bought SF2, which for some reason comes in a double CD case. In the second case was a Wonder Boy HuCard.

It happened to me several times but I found the spine cards under the trays! You should always check the trays of your CD games.

Yeah, certainly wasn't an uncommon experience when I used to buy games off of used game shops/recycle shops in Japan.

I've also unexpectedly found 'em stuffed in the manual or hidden between the tray and liner.  They don't serve a purpose, but I leave 'em in the manual where they aren't bothering anything, rather than chucking 'em.

They actually bother me when they fall out if I'm looking at the manual. Back in the day, I used to just put them back in the manual like you but it wasn't long before I got fed up with picking spine cards up off the floor every time I opened a manual.

That's understandable, but reading's for suckers.  When I first get my grubby mitts on a title, I'll look through the manual once then never again (unless it's a fighting game).

Thanks for the tip, you've got me popping the cases each time I pull a game out now. Hahaha
