Sorry about the ID, I had the same trouble when I moved to the Republic. All I can say is once you establish residency, employers look at you a lot differently. SD is a good place to start to get on your feet.

And the spider bite is icing on the cake... that really sucks I've been bitten by a brown recluse before and its not any fun.

Anyway glad you're on the mend, and if I can help out with what little I can spare, I will. Sounds like you're on the right track to getting back on your feet.

Just got a new laser in, and found that my old Duo laser was really weak.  Not much good news after that, basically I'm finding that after adjusting my POTs, I can confirm good positions on VR105, 103, and 101.
 
  It's VR102 that is a big distress..  Seems if I manage to boot a game, when the laser goes to the outer edge, the disc stops for a second and decides to spin backwards.  Usually the laser gives up at that point.  Yesterday I could get it to move at the correct Duo speed and read a game, so I tried a back up CDr.. and it read some of it but would lag for a long time between scenes.  So I continued to tweak, and now I'm F'd.  Can't get that place again with the VR102.

  I noticed you can turn the POT many times around, is this a bad idea?  Also, even after marking points on the POT to return them to after adjusting, when I return them the laser behaves differently.  It's super frustrating getting so close but not close enough. 

  Any tips at this point?

Excited for the remake, might go for it to see the graphics again, but updated.

So, I recently got myself a nintendo wii, got a component cable, and loaded up wiimednafen with a few TG16 games.

OMG does it look good and the emulation is so dam accurate! I can't really tell the difference over the real thing. I am using the 240P mode on a SD CRT so yes it has scanlines. I even think the picture is slightly better than component out of a real system. The only downfall might be that I think it has a minimal amount of lag but that could just be my imagination and the controller I am using. This is the most accurate TG16 emulation running 240P for an SD CRT I've ever seen.

Because of this it brings up these questions.

Why own real hardware?
Why own real games?
Why bother with a Super SD system 3 when a wii can emulate the CD drive perfectly.

Just curious if anyone else has seen/used the Tg16 wii emulation and possibly thought the same thing.

Is this real?

Desh is solid. He has committed feats of strength including eating a pickled pigs foot so a kid could get a free NES game so I can't really talk shit about someone who cares that much about the next gen of retrogamers (for the record I don't know him IRL. Or maybe at MGC, I may have met you once, but just saw the infamous (MGC?) video a few years ago and was impressed). You can't run gamers like that off a forum. He's the guy that would give your little brother the $5 at the swap meet so he could get the SNES copy of FF6 he's coveted since birth. He also, at the drop of a hat, sent me a bag of low profile switches for PC Engine Modding (30 SWITCHES Y'ALL) on the very first night we spoke, without asking for a dollar and shipped it for free. I was fucking shocked. As a result I was able to finish 3 members systems here; That's someone who really loves this hobby. Thanks again, Desh!

Also, cabbage is tight. Not because I'm Scottish, and also don't know him IRL, but I have nothing but respect for him and what his family is going through. Always there to cut to the quick, he's one of the realest cats on PCEFX and won't sugar-coat a turd, which is rare. We need honest people here to keep it real, and he's always delivered. I cant tell from text but if there may be something that is bothering worrying you about him, I vouch for him 100%, even if my word as an Oakland, Californian may mean as much as a box of moldy tangerines.

...so these are my votes of confidence, NW for these members, in light of recent posts, from my experience dealing with them.

It was one of the first systems that the local place around me imported games for... And I think they lasted for maybe 3 months before the neo geo pocket color came out and everyone traded them in.

I honestly never got enough into the system to actually sit down and play it so this thread is all a learning experience for me. I was also about 11 and completely broke when it hit, and at about $50 per game that was almost impossible.
