[Console Repair/Mod Center / FIXED - Turbo Express screen dim, but working. How to fix?]

I bought a TE that somebody attempted to fix and actually did a decent job with the capacitor replacement, but the screen isn't working properly. The game loads and music works perfectly and if I turn the lights off in my room and hold it at an extreme angle, I can see everything on the screen just fine. Moving the brightness dial doesn't change anything whatsoever!

I thought maybe it was a backlight issue, but where I can see everything on the screen at the odd angle, I don't think that's it. I verified all batteries were above 1.6v so I know it's not a battery issue.

Where the brightness dial doesn't work, how do I go about testing from here? I checked the pot and my meter read 0 ohms all the way up to 5 as I turned it, if I remember correctly, so it appears the potentiometer is working.

Please help!

I've been collecting and repairing retro stuff for a while now and while I can replace parts easily enough, understanding why some things work the way they do is a bit of a mystery.

I have lots of broken handheld systems with perfectly good screens. SP's, DS, DS lite, psp (too big, I know), game gear.....and would like to possibly use one of these screens until I can find the right 3.5" LCD for my turbo express. As I said, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this type of thing, so that's why I'm asking. I'd love to learn more about this subject, reusing or repurposing lcd's. Any help is much appreciated.

[Console Repair/Mod Center / Turbo express lcd replacement guide needed ASAP.]

I picked up a broken Turbo Express the other day and plan on recapping it, but the lcd needs replaced since it's cracked. I've spent a while searching Google and also found nothing in the modification section, where are the guides for upgrading the LCD to a 3.5"? I finally found 1 by using the search function, but all images were gone and replaced with Asian ads of some sort.

Please, someone point me in the right direction. It gets delivered in a few days and I'd like to make sure I have everything. I've already ordered a 3.5" lcd and a cap kit.
