Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Quote from: ChakanPosted 12.1.2004 @ 10:39PM EST by Chakan

I just finished my first run through Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater a short while ago. My thoughts? Wow.

Seriously, that's all I can formulate about it at this moment. I'm sure I'll write about it more elaborately soon enough, perhaps in a review? Teh sh0ck!

This game has, single-handedly, re-awakened my slumbering interest in gaming. I'm still blaming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for my apostasy and am definitely not looking to get ahold of it's sequel. Shame, I was really drawn to the visual style of the game, which was inspired by French painters Jean-Leon Gerome and David Roberts.

I have, though, been so inspired by the joys of Snake Eater to even give Sands of Time another chance. Perhaps if I drudge through some more control issues and repetitive grunt fights, I'll enjoy more fun puzzles and atmosphere. Perhaps.
Final Fantasy III

QuoteFinal Fantasy III (as it was known in the Western parts of the world) was and is still, for me, the best damn role-playing game ever made, let along the best FF created and released. It featured absolutely gorgeous musical compositions, interesting character designs that made a good transition to pixel form, and a huge cast of characters with their own, unique backstories that you could optionally explore if you fully ventured throughout the game world.
