Ark and I removed the sales function fro the Turbo Town group in hopes that half of the idiots who joined just to post something for sale would leave. Made a pseudo/group called The Marketplace and told them all to go there.  I wish we could get more ppl in there just talking about the games themselves and what they like about them, sadly I'm starting to think that most of the ppl interested in Turbo now are just interested in gains and not actually enjoying the art of the game itself (music, graphics, programming, ect) :\

I'm Zach. I started Turbo Town (formerly TurboGrafx 16 and PC Engine Fans) I regret half the things that happen in that group, but we are starting to attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff and get things back to normal.

Maybe it's because there's not a lot of consistency. It just seems every few months there's a whole new team of admins with different views, take the whole PCEWorks as an example.

As sad as this is, I got this quote from an admin of turbo town when someone posted their fake DE2 mail call. Soooo.. in a FB group that's been around for 5ish years (I think), it's strange there's not an established culture. With groups like TurboReproductions, you know exactly what it's about. It doesn't flip flop around, Jodi's page is upfront and you know exactly what it's about. TurboTown is always random though, whether or not stuff gets community support is in the wind. More stability would be A+ (input cliché company ethics poster). Different viewpoints on touchy topics are fine, it's just agaitating seeing them bounce around. Here's some do's and dont's i've gathered

FB groups have been quite disappointing in the last few years. Previously taboo subjects like PCEWorks, selling overpriced shit and extreme collecting are now acceptable. Still don't understand what started this shift

There's no sense of community in a Facebook group. Ironically something that has your real picture, name and life is less personal than a semi anonymous message board like PCEFX.

Personally, I use a throwaway account for most of my Facebook posting, but I do have a couple groups and friends on my real profile.

Initially, I found the word filter in the shoutbox amusing, in a positive way.  I added it to the March idiot poll, cause I knew the filter wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea.

When it was applied on the whole forum, it overstayed it's welcome pretty fast, though. It made more harm than the initial cause of the problem that it was designed for.

He was trolling me today in the thread of a PCE Facebook group about the Emerald Dragon translation project, made all sorts of dumb accusations... Same ole same ole, he even sent me a private message. I just blocked him...not the first time he sent me messages, some exchange with Bernie years back caused it that time.

I miss Tats, he was one of the best guys to talk to when he was here.  I am VERY anti-facebook though, so I'll give up on further conversation if joining is what it would take.

At least it's good to see he's getting laid on his birthday too.

Tats was great, but he's spread light and thin on FacialBook... so, sadly, you're not missing much.

FacialBook and all the social media are totally fine for certain "use cases" (to borrow a term from the corporate world), but they are no substitute for a genuine forum with a core group of folks who discuss things.
