In anticipation I have made myself a custom 2 disc case for Xanadu II. This way my real copies of both 1 and 2 will have a 2nd CD spot for a translated CD-R once this amazing project is finished

I'd actually thought about this particular conundrum.  The First game has the space but the second game hates me and everything I stand for and is only a single disk game! 

I think I like your solution so much that I'll likely do the same myself.

I finished the first Sherlock Holmes game.  The ending screen for all 3 cases is rather similar so I probably should've just snapped the score three times but oh well!  I'm going to take a stab at a game that I've hated since the first time I ever played it next:  Dropoff.

There is literally only one pixel of unused space at the top and bottom of the TLoXII logo, so if the English logo is scrapped and subtitles are used and the size/palette cannot be expanded, this is how it would work:

I think this is a pretty classy looking logo.  If you can't make it work well from a technical and aesthetic standpoint at the same time, I'd rather you went with something like this.

I always found the game's title a bit funny.  It is clearly titled "The Legend of Xanadu" in English.  However, right below that on the cover and next to it on the spine is Japanese text reading "Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu" or something like "The Winds of Legend of Xanadu," "The Wind's Legend Xanadu," or maybe even "The Legendary Winds of Xanadu."

Maybe SamIAm can tell me what's actually going on there?

Recently I've been drinking an ice cold glass bottle of coke a day. I don't know why but it seems to taste much nicer in a glass bottle.

They taste better because aluminum doesn't get dissolved into the drink.  Also, possibly, because they're made with sugar rather than corn syrup depending on the specific type of bottled coke you're drinking.

There are a lot of different text messages that go into that "Attack +12" string area ... and the number itself can be up to 6 digits long.

I think that I'm going to need that 6x12 font in order to keep any abbreviated text messages understandable. 

I think I speak for everyone when I say that abbreviating Defense to Def is nowhere nearly as gross as abbreviating Dragon Slayer to Dragn Slyr.  It's been a while since I've played, but I seem to recall the stats being referred to as Def and Atk on your character status sheet thing-y.  Assuming this is the case, if you leave it as Atk and Def then you have symmetry that actually works pretty nicely, in fact.....

Also, I'm of the opinion that the shop menu looks better with the item name up at the top than down below anyway.  Hurray for problem solving!

Ran through it again last night.  I absolutely love the aesthetics of this game.  It feels like most shooters are in spaceships and most of the rest are cute-em-up type games.  Lords of Thunder feels like the best of everything I can recall about the 80s wrapped up in one beautiful love letter sent just after the decade ended.

I always liked the look of this guy...



I saw it in a Gamefan magazine talking about upcoming platforms and hoping that I'd get a sequel on the thus-far unreleased PCFX.

I figured that I'd make a thread on this once I'm a bit further on but this seems like as good of a place as any to announce this I guess.  I got started on a translation for Eternal City a couple of weeks ago.  This is a learn-as-I-go project but I got a nice head start courtesy of Bonknuts answering a bunch of questions and pointing me in the right direction.




It will likely be a while until it's done, but whatever, it's in the works right now.

Upon opening this well packed box I found a new Turbo Pad. 

And for real though, Goldmen are the way to go when you've finally reached Rimulder and are at a point to where Wolves are no longer giving you gains worth your effort.  It's way faster to grind those guys for the cash monies they give you in order to get Magic Armor and a Broad Sword and it's not like you're going to be able to take on the Wyvern's until you have good gear anyway, so the lack of experience points doesn't even really matter with those guys for a while.

Oh man, I've got the perfect thing for you.  Years ago, I picked up a TG16 from somebody who had decided to do...something...to it.  I assumed it was broken when I got it but I plugged it in and, lo and behold, it worked. 

The area around the screws in the back were cut out with a saw of some sort.  Then on the front the area around where a card is inserted is cut out and the RF shield beneath has been partially removed as well.  I opened it up and, near as I could tell, nothing was actually changed inside.  For grins, I played games on it for a bit but then I stuffed it in the back of some closet.




It looks ugly as sin but still worked fine last I checked.  This was, oh, 10 years ago or so.  I've had it sitting around collecting dust ever since.  If you're interested I'll see if I can find the power adapter for it to make sure that it's still operational.
