Yes! Finally, something that looks good! :)
Killer is Dead is the next game being made by Sudia51 (of No More Heroes fame).
As much as I would like it to be a sequel to Killer 7, it isn't.

The games about killers killing other killers......sounds good! :D

Wow, it finally happened...The PS2 has finally given it's last breath...

It actually makes me feel a little melancholy. The PS2 is my personal favorite system of all time, it quite frankly had every type of game I enjoy on it and housed many of my favorite games. Sure, it didn't quite have the same warming persona that systems made by Nintendo/NEC had, but it hit a bulls eye were it mattered most, the games. The amount of support the PS2 received is simply amazing and is what really pronounced it as this system that literally had almost everything for anyone.

While its relevance, in terms of new games, might have completely dried up in about 2010, it saddens me still to hear that it has completely lost support.

Here's to you old friend! It was an outstanding thirteen year run,

General Gaming / ResidualVM
12/22/2012, 10:35 PM
Any adventure game fans here? If so, then I might have some exciting news for you!
ResidualVM.webp

ResidualVM v1.0 has just been released! ResidualVM is a sister project to ScummVM that allows you to play LucasArts' Lua-based 3D adventures games on modern machines. It currently only supports one game, however that one game is one of my favorate games of all time,
Grim Fandango!
IMG

Please head on down to the site for more info!
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/ResidualVM
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/ScummVM

QuoteThe edge is here: ResidualVM 0.1.0 - The Edge of the World released

The day is finally upon us, after 9 years, 4 months and 6 days, we are proud to announce the first stable release of ResidualVM, and what day would be better for this occasion, than the end of the world as we know it. (or so the Mayan Mechanical Gremlins told us).

This initial stable release of ResidualVM now opens the world of Grim Fandango to a modern audience, whether you are using Windows, Linux or OS X, you'll now be able to take your 4 year journey of the soul, and find out if that compass in the handle actually WILL come in handy.

We would like to note that, while we have tested ResidualVM quite thoroughly, there MIGHT be cases where you end up in a situation where the game is incompletable, some of these were actually also existent in the original game (while the game itself is designed to be dead-end-free, the bugs in it weren't, nor were our own). So, please follow the old adventure-game mantra of "save early, save often".

Over the past few years a lot has happened, even though the code base didn't reach a mature state until the past year. Lots of bugs have been fixed, even quite a few bugs left in the original game have been resolved. The team would like to thank all those that have been involved with getting ResidualVM to this point for their efforts.

Finally, we would like to thank:

The LUA developers, for creating a nice compact script interpreter.
Tim Schafer, for obvious reasons, and everybody else who helped make Grim Fandango a brilliant game; and the EMI team for giving it their best try.
Bret Mogilefsky, for managing to create a SPUTM-style 3D LUA engine, and avoiding the horrible hack it could have been.

So, jump on over to our downloads-page, and grab a copy of ResidualVM 0.1.0 (but don't forget to download the 1.1-patch for Grim Fandango while you're there).

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys English Dub Patch v1.1

IMG
Art By My BRO!!!!! (Timothy G.)

(Wallpapers 1920x1080)
Wallpaper 1, Wallpaper 2, Wallpaper 3

Finally! After 8 years, the Ys IV English dub patch is now complete and ready for your TurboGrafx-CD!

-Intro-
This is v1.1 of the Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys English Dub Patch. This patch will dub over everything into English. It requires that you apply it to an ISO/WAV/CUE archive of Ys IV; one that's preferably patched with NightWolve's text translation.

-How to apply the patch-
Place your ISO/WAV/CUE archive, that you should of ripped from TurboRip, (Included with this patch) and place the files in the root of the "Patch" folder.
Start the "Patcher.cmd" to start patching the game. If all goes well you should be greeted with a nice "The patching process is complete!" message.
A backup of the original Japanese tracks will be placed in a new folder called "backup".

If you only have access to a BIN/CUE  rip of Ys IV then please mount it to a virtual drive and rip it to ISO/WAV/CUE using the included TurboRip.

~Note for users with {HCD3051-5-1116-R1P} rips~
There are two different versions of YsIV, version {HCD3051-4-1108-R1F} and {HCD3051-5-1116-R1P}. Both versions are essentially identical; however there are a few extra sectors in some of the audio tracks in version {HCD3051-5-1116-R1P}. This dub was built around {HCD3051-4-1108-R1F} since that is the version I own. When patching the opposite version the TOC will be messed up after patching. This shouldn't affect the game when being emulated, but it will no longer be recognized as Ys IV. To fix this use the included TocFixer to fix the games TOC.

QuoteDirector - Michael G. (Burnt Lasagna)
Directed this dub project from start to finish and did all the voice directing/syncing/mixing/ect.

Producer/Programmer/Tech - Nicolas Livaditis (NightWolve)
Founder of Ys IV 2004 project, produced script localization/patch, found all the ADPCM addresses as well as make a new audio dumper/inserter for the project using SOX, TurboRip for easy Ys IV rips to replace Japanese waves with English, etc. Also helped by answering any technical question I had along the way.

Producer/Programmer/Tech - David Shadoff
During the 2004 project, David made the first APDCM get/put tools to help lay the groundwork to making a dub possible, which got Justus started off, but SOX was discovered in the 2012 attempt so we used that instead.

Script Translator - Shimarisu/Rachel (9X% by her, with DeuceBag finishing the rest)

Speech Translator - Jeff "DeuceBag" Nussbaum, AKA The XXXSEED CockFlasher!
-Regarding Repro Selling
Quote from: Burnt Lasagna on 09/25/2012, 07:49 PM
I'm very much against repros!
This project was strictly an act a fandom and I do not want that to be misconstrued by the powers at be. I didn't start this project expecting to make any money out of it, nor do I want to. It was made in order to give English speaking fans of the series a method for playing the game in their native language. Nothing more. Not a physical item that you can put on your shelf, just a free file to apply to your game so you can understand it. You shouldn't expect anything else.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys is still very much being sold today on the Japanese PSN and you can even easily import it, since the PS3 is not region locked. Which I recommend for those of you who have not bought it,
jp.playstation.com/software/title/*jpys4*.html
IMG

I'm fine with people making their own mockup case/manual that you print out yourself, just please no pressed disks/repro selling!

That is my stance on the matter, please respect it and enjoy the patch on either a CDR or your emulator of choice.

Off-Topic / 10 Boxes of Expired Gatorade
09/18/2012, 02:19 PM
Alright, so I was helping my brother and my sister-in-law move out of their apartment a couple of months ago and wile I was there I ended up with 10 large boxes of Gatorade! My sister-in-law works for a company that has a sponsorship with Gatorade, hence why they had so much to throw away.

I run almost everyday, so this mass of rainbow fuel was much obliged! Now lets fast forward to present day and I'm almost half way through everything and I open a new box of Gatorade only to find this weird white sludge at the bottom of the bottle. I check the back of the bottle and find out it was produced in 2010 and expired in February of this year! I checked the shipping date on all the other boxes and they all show 2010.

I'm a little skeptical on whether this is safe to drink. I know I've already consumed a majority of the crap by now, but none of those other boxes had this white sludge at the bottom.

Is there any expired liquid experts here? If it makes a difference the white junk goes away after shaking it :)

Off-Topic / Sakura Wars, Can You Dig it!?
08/08/2012, 12:28 AM
Anyone here a fan of this series of half breed strategy games that have gone relatively obscured in the west?

sak1_logo.gif
I got into this series back in 2010 when NISA brought out the fifth game in the series, in English, on the PS2 and Wii, which they dubbed Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. I bought the game shortly after it came out for $40 purely because it was a new PS2 game (love that system!); even thought it had all the signs of a game that I would detest with a passion (cliche looking anime game that NISA published, oh joy).

After I started playing the game I immediately found out it was something more then that! The game completely took me off guard on how much of a sheer joy this game was to play and the funny thing was, in a sense, it was exactly what I thought it would be. The game is so cliche and unabashedly cheesy that it gets to the point that you just can't help but enjoy it since it's so passionate and sincere about what it does! After I finished the game for the first time I ended up importing the rest of the series,1-4, on the Dreamcast and playing through them all. Almost the same case with the rest of the series as well, but of course it's not in English so that's a big draw back.

I highly recommend this series!
For all of you that have never heard of it I suggest you Google it right now since I did a crappy job at even describing what the game is.

Thanks to the hard work and knowledge of ekeeke, Genesis Plus GX on the Wii (and GC) will be receiving  Sega/Mega CD support very soon! If you check out his latest progress report you will find that he has reached 100% compatibility with Sega CD games and is now working on ironing out two games that have some graphical glitches.

It's important  to note that this Sega CD emulator will not be a port of a preexisting emulator, such as Gens. It is however going to be a completely new Sega CD emulator designed from the ground up. This was mandatory so that the new Sega CD core could sync with ekeeke's very accurate Genesis core.

Genesis Plus GX (not regular Genesis Plus)  is already the most accurate Genesis emulator ever written. With Sega CD under it's belt and the abilities of the Wii (being able to out put in 240p and classic controller) this will become the definitive emulation experience for the Genesis hardware!

Has anyone here seen this yet? If not I recommend you do!

It's probably the best thing to come out of anime since Akira and is also the best looking animated film to come out since...well, Akira!

You can see the trailer for it here on youtube.
You can also rent it from youtube for $4.

Hey! Have you ever gotten tired of pressing the "run" button every time you want to play a TurboGrafx-CD game?
Yeah I know, that's a rhetorical question, of course you are! Well now you don't have to with the aid of this System card 3.0 patch!

This IPS patch is intended to slightly streamline TurboGrafx-CD emulation and maybe real hardware via flashcards. What it does is make the prerequisite SYTEMCARD3.0 auto-boot into the game and remove the system cards graphics. Basically, this patch makes it so that it can seamlessly start CD games the second you start it in an emulator/flashcard, removing the system card menu being the middle man.

This patch was built around the modified system card 3 ROM that's included with TurboGrafx-CD Virtual Console games. The only difference is that the cards graphics are removed to make its presence almost non-existent.

Well, here it is.
(Links to the patche's RHDN page)
SYSTEM CARD3 Auto-Boot Patch
You will need an IPS patcher to apply it.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Translation Patch
IMG
Logo by fragmare

Hello and welcome to the Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo | Castlevania: Rondo of Blood English Translation Patch (PSP script port to PC Engine/TurboGrafx-CD).

After many years of leaving this project abandoned I can happily say that this patch has reached its much needed 100% status! However the credits have not made it into this release of the patch (if ever) so in order to compensate for this inconvenience we have included the translation for the credits in the ReadMe.

To make clear, this patch will translate the PC Engine CD version (Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo) of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood into English. Everything will be translated; even the voiced dialogue will be replaced with the official Konami English dub from Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP). However miscellaneous grunts will retain their original Japanese.

It also replaces the old German narrator with the new narration that was in the PSP and VC release of the game. If you, for whatever reason, do not like this you can easily swap back the original narration (Track03) after it is done patching.

But enough talk! Have at you!

Was the Director of the project back in 2004 - 2006 and worked on all text/audio hacking that was done during that point. Also worked on making the new Patcher.

Michael G. (Burnt Lasagna)
(The guy who wrote this ReadMe) I started this project back up in early 2011 and directed the project from 2011 onward. I worked on engineering the PSP dub into the voiced cutscenes in the TurboGrafx-CD version along with hacking in new English title cards for the stage names. Also made some minor changes to the Patcher, such as the OGG conversion.

Andy (pemdawg)
Worked on some early translation and text hacking in 2004 – 2005; currently at the time of writing he's trying to translate the games packaging.

Tom (tomaitheous/malducci/TurboXray)
Worked on hacking in the new title screen, hacked in the new English "Castlevania: Oops, Wrong Game!!!" title screen, added a new print routine for the opening subtitle system, hacked in the text in signs and added  a new text routine for the ferry man. It's very important to note that this finished version of the patch would not have been possible without Tom. He was the saving grace when all of our team members hit the wall, so please everyone give a big round of applause to Tom!

Fragmare
Made the graphic for the new title screen and made the logo that you see at the top of this readme.

Vanya
Made the "Castlevania: Oops, Wrong Game!!!" title screen.

PC/Console/Mobile Ports / WiiMednafen
10/30/2011, 05:36 PM
Finally, someone has made a port of mednafen (an acronym for "My Emulator Doesn't Need A Frickin' Excellent Name.") for the Wii, courtesy of Raz0red.

QuoteIMG
WiiMednafen is a partial port of the Mednafen emulator.

Emulators supported:

    GameBoy/GameBoy Color
    GameBoy Advance
    Game Gear
    Lynx
    Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
    Neo Geo Pocket
    PC Engine (CD)/TurboGrafx 16 (CD)/SuperGrafx (Fast version)
    PC-FX
    Sega Master System
    Virtual Boy
    WonderSwan

It should be noted that the Virtual Boy emulation included with this emulator is much improved over WiirtualBoy. Most games now run at 100% speed without frame skipping. These improvements are due entirely to Ryphecha (Mednafen) who optimized the core emulation code in addition to eliminating idle loops on a per game basis.
As you can tell Mednafen is sort of a Swiss army knight emulator, capable of emulating a variety of different systems.
Most of the emulators included in WiiMednafen have already been done before on the Wii but were this emulator shines the most is the very solid TurboGrafx 16/CD section of the emulator, which has never been done quite right before on the Wii.

You can check out a video of the emulator running  here.
I'm very excited to see how this develops over time, spatially the PC-FX section that runs very slow at the moment.

You can download WiiMednafen here.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiMednafen

So anyone here use their Wii for homebrew reasons? If not then this is defiantly a good enough reason to merit its use :)
