3DO
I picked up a 3DO system + 11 games, two controlleres from ElSeven last Friday night (though I came out with even more stuff than planned, such as a Mega CD PAL VHS promo and a bunch of Sega/Mega CD games). I totally dig the system so far because it's cheesy and I love cheese games. The 3DO perfectly defines min-90's gaming, so like all the games for it are just like those really early Saturn and Playstation games everyone disses :D - I love it. Talk 3DO and recommend me some games to get, I already know quite a few I want to get. Also, are the Capcom controllers for 3DO rare/expensive? I tried looking for them on eBay and found absolutely nothing, I won't be able to play SSF2T (when I get that game eventually) without them. If Genesis/Atari/C64 controllers work on the 3DO's controller outputs, I suppose I really only need one Capcom 3DO controller since I could just use a six button Genesis pad for the second controller, if possible that is. Also when I look for the light gun, it usually seems bundled with a light gun game or so and seems to be rather expensive; is the gun itself the expensive part or is it the games? KTHX!

The only controllers you can use Keranu are 3DO controllers. There is a adapter out there that lets you use Snes game pads.Look for it on ebay,as it pops up every now and then.Hori made a good arcade fighter stick in Japan, and sometimes it pops up for sale too.I hated those Capcom Soldier pads. They were awkward, but you may like them fine.

My fav game pad for the system is the FZ-10 systems game pad.Its small and comfortable, and is easy to use on Super SF 2 Turbo,Way of the Warrior,Primal Rage,Yu Yu Hakusho,Ultraman Powered,Sailor Moon, and Samurai Shodown.

You can always have someone convert a game pad over to a fighter stick.

Games wise.

Need for Speed
Twisted
Zhadnost: The People's Party
Road Rash
Crash and Burn
Mega Race
Wing Commander 3,Heart of the Tiger
Out of this World
Flashback
Powers Kingdom,err...never mind, you have the US version I see.
About any of the fighting games I listed above
Wolfenstien, the 3DO version is a port of the top notch MAC edition. Its teh best home system port hands down. The music kicks ass.
P'oed
Myst
Killing Time
Super Wing Commander
Pheonix 3
Shockwave 2:Beyound the Gate.  Side note,I really hate the first 2,but this one is top notch in my book
Tetsujin 1 and 2 AKA Iron Angel of the Apocalypse and,The Return
Burning Soldier
Star Blade
Off World Interceptor Extreme
Strahl
Syndicate
Trip'D
Theme park
Alone in the Dark 1 and 2
Star Control 2
Battle Chess
Space Hulk
Policenauts
Lucienne's Quest
Return Fire an Maps of Death Add on
Novastorm
Microcosm
Princess Maker
Quarantine
Montana Jones
Blade Force
Gex
Bust a Move
Capt. Quazar
D
Hell
Gridders
Demolition Man
Dragons Lair
The Horde

Ive owned all these at one time or another, and they all were titles I really liked. There are others on the import side of things, but those were obscure items I thought were more or less cool to own,but not that fun to play as a game, like the Tarrot Card game I had.

Keranu

Nice list, a lot of things are ones I am looking forward to playing. Thanks for the info on Wolfenstein 3D, I love W3D so much since classic FPS are the only FPS I can really play and W3D is just the FPS to play. The music should be interesting to hear since I've never really heard W3D music to being with, just sound. Unfortunately I hear the DOOM port for 3DO isn't so good, at least compared to some other versions.

Also thanks for informing me about the controller issue, I had not tested a Atari 2600 stick or Genesis pad on it yet, so I guess I don't have to really bother now ;) . My cousin owns one of those Capcom pads for Genesis which looks exactly like the one for 3DO and I quite enjoy it actually, though there could've been a very few small adjustments to make it even better.

Anyone have any info to share about the massive multiplayer games for 3DO, or the ones that are at least 3 players? I've heard the biggest multiplayer game can support eight controllers, though I don't remember the name. I assume "Zhadnost: The People's Party", which Michael recommended is one of these mad multiplayer games as well.

3DO is just so interesting....

Yea the party games are multi player,as are the sports games.

Anyone knows whether Blue Chicago Blues on the 3DO is bilingual or not?

Keranu

Crap, I totally forgot Blue Chicago Blues had a 3DO port. I would definitely get it if it is bilingual, I loved the J.B. Harold Murder Club for TGCD and was really interested in the other J.B. Harold games, especially Blue Chicago Blues since it takes place in Chicago ;) .

Ice Breakers is a very fun and unique game, though the 2D graphics totally don't fit in with other 3DO or 32-bit era games at all.

Also started a game in Guardian War and quite enjoying it so far.

Ninja Spirit

Wow the last time I played 3DO was half a decade back.

I only played Gex, Samurai Shodown, and what's that FMV action game called? It had Tia Carrere (Wayne's World, True Lies) in it.

EDIT: I found out what it was. "The Daedalus Encounter."

PCEngineHell

I had the import of Guardian War,Powers Kingdom.
I put in alot of hours on that one,but some people really hate those Micro Cabin strategy war rpg games.
Guardian War has tons of neat spells and characters if you give it a good chance.
I think there is a debug cheat code for the US version too.

Ninja Spirit

Micro Cabin hadn't heard that name in a long time.

Most Final Fantasy fans (particularly old school FF fans) don't even know that Micro Cabin ported Final Fantasy 1 from Famicom to MSX.

JBSpeed

Guardian war is a fun little game,  a few other games to check out
Slam-n-Jam '95 - fast paced basketball game
Foes of Ali - Nice 3d boxing, only boxing game I've played where I got a
one punch 1st round ko - slow paced and odd controls though
I think its called Olympic Soccer, one of the last 3do games released- graphically not as good as Fifa, but has great commentary.  One game the english guy said there are several ways to describe play like this, but I think
pathetic sums it up best, as my team was getting slaughtered.

Killing Time - who doesn't like shooting clowns?

another thing is the Game Guru - basically a hex editor for save game files
I'm not cool

ParanoiaDragon

Looks like you pretty much mentioned everything.  Unless I missed them on the list:
The Incredible Machine
Battlesport
Cannon Fodder(IMO, the best version, atleast for consoles)
Cyberdillo
Dragon Lore
Fun n' Games
Gridders
Insector War(multiplayer FPS, kind of like Faceball)
Lost Eden
Mazer(extra cheese)
Olympic Soccer
Olympic Summer Games(which I no loger have :( )
Sailor Moon
Samurai Showdown
Scramble Cobra
Soccer Kid(though, I think I like the Jaguar version better)
Star Fighter
Total Eclipse
Ultraman Powered
Braindead 13
Cowboy Casino(it's mildly intersting)
Cyberia
John Madden
Kingdom the Far Reaches
Lemmings
Pataank
Shadow(for SUPER CHEESE!)
Snow Job(reminds me of JB Harold)
Virtuoso(big time cheese!)

That's all I can think of.  I wouldn't pay too much for any 3DO game.  Frankly, most the games I got, were about $2-3 at Best Buy eons ago, when they were getting rid of them.  Lucienne's Quest can be pricey, but is my favorite game on the system, along with Ice Breaker, I love that game!  And I too had been thinking about Blue Chicago Blues, somebody out there has got to know if there's a selection for english!?

Lemme guess, you KO'ed Sonny Liston, right? :D

I did play the 3DO at a FUTURE SHOP years ago.  They had Guardian War on as a demo.  It was great fun! Too bad my dad made me leave the store after I won the battle. :(

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!

Atolshan

Haha 3DO...that one takes me back.  I remember picking one up at Walden Software back in '96 for pretty cheap.  Good times though, I remember being pretty amazed at seeing half-decent live action footage on the thing, and some of the games were pretty darn fun.  Guardian War was a classic, although not quite as good IMHO as my fav Duo/SegaCD/SNES RPGs (but what is?   )  You should be able to find plenty of cheap games on the net, and there is no region protection.  Enjoy it, I heard they are going up in value.

Welcome to the boards! :D  Hope you enjoy your stay!

There's an auction going on for one right now.  The guy is asking $140 for it.

3DO auction!

Brainfart: I wonder what it would feel like to be smacked in the head with a 3DO?

Wow this is an awesome thread, I wish I had some 3DO experience to contribute.  It sounds like fun.  I was checking it out at one point when I was looking into getting new systems.  I opted for the Genesis, Dreamcast and now Sega CD!! Pretty stoked about those, but may eventually pick up a 3DO.  The game killing time looked kind of cool.  I think I will start a Sega CD thread here.  Look out for it!!  Keranu, nice finds so far, I'm jealous! :D

I think I was frazier and the other guy was either cooper or wepner
one of the "white" guys.it was the final round of the tourney mode.

And I know what a 3do to the head feels like - at least one in a box.

It was on the top shelf in my closet and one day it pounced on me.
Really only fell about 6 inches though
I'm not cool

How's the Goldstar feel in the head? :D

The best experience yet will be getting smacked by one in the head.
Even better yet if its one of the rarer Sanyo Try units!

Hopefully the 3DO won't fall apart on you after you get smacked with it... 8-[
