I would've really liked a good Rastan port for the Turbo.  I'm not a big fan of either Rastan 2 on PCE or the original Rastan on SMS.

I would kinda expect a sale at some point before they go away.  Maybe you'll be able to pick up a bunch of boards at a last-chance great price or something.

If I encounter one and can buy it at MSRP I'll likely buy the thing.  Any more effort than that and I'm out.

Quote from: VmprHntrD on 05/16/2018, 04:36 PMYet they also will be having AES/CD style gamepads you can use on it with the 2 controller ports supplied.  Unless you have to hunch over it, just HDMI it to the TV and use a game pad.  Problem solved.
Wait, it has TWO controller ports?  That's actually pretty good sounding...

I loved Dragon Half when I was in highschool.  Looking back, I think it's incredibly trend setting as there are now dozens of anime/manga that are essentially parodies of Dragon Quest.  Dragon Half (to the best of my knowledge) started that whole business.

If you haven't, I'd recommend reading the Dragon Half manga.  It's very funny.

At least you get to keep the stuff that you, you know, actually purchased.  Not being able to buy stuff sucks but is WAY better than stuff you've paid for going away.

I played again and got about 2.5 million.  At the end of the month I'll put my highscore in the highscores thread.  It may very well wind up being 2.5M though as I failed to even break a million several games in a row afterward.

The complaint that I see, from the trailer, seems to not be that Apu is bad but instead that there's not other representation of Indian persons in media (or at least there wasn't in the early 90s?).  Yeah, he probably wouldn't be made today but there are a lot of classic things that wouldn't happen today.

I was curious enough that I checked the website where I could legally stream it.  I'd watch the whole thing if I could but it wants me to sign in through my cable provider and I'm not even remotely interested enough in what some guy has to say about a cartoon character to set that nonsense up so oh well!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they get the rights back at some point.  I'd expect it, in fact, unless the app itself is going away.  A lot of money went into those virtual boards and there's certainly a lot of them.

Some of the pinball fans at my arcade have this app on their phone and will actually practice the boards while waiting their turn in pinball tournaments.  I find that concept kind of hilarious but that's neither here nor there.

I've actually never played the game.  Why?  Because I thought until this very moment that it was the sequel to the Turbo game.  Now I'm at least going to check out a rom of it

Quote from: Bloufo on 05/12/2018, 02:58 PMJust now caught up with the current season of Vikings.

All I can say is that lazy/bad writing permeates the whole thing. Park your brain at the door and come in just for the spectacle of the battles.
I stopped watching in like, Season 3 I think.  I randomly caught an episode where Ragnar's crippled son has almighty fighting skills because he rolls on the ground slashing swords as he's spinning?  Yeah, I think I made the right decision.

Time Cruise 2 is definitely a weird one to be so high.

Haven't checked this thread in a while.  Yeah, Panzer Dragoon Orta looks fantastic in high res...

They publish comics in Japan.  Dragonball, Naruto, a jillion others.

Is it perhaps the 50th anniversary of Jump?

Raiden's a game I haven't been able to get very far in.  It's pretty rough.

I've probably played more Alien Crush in the last few days than, well, ever.  I feel like it's a good game that's just worse in every way than it's far better sequel.  If I'd played Alien Crush before I'd played Devil's Crush I might think differently.  As it is, I got Devil's Crush as a kid but didn't play Alien Crush until downloading a rom around 2,000.  I didn't own the game until a few years after that.  With all that said, I've gotten a score just shy of 2 million and will likely play again this weekend.

I've gotta admit though, the music to Alien Crush is fantastic.  It's some of the most fitting tunes you'll find in any video game.  It perfectly matches the mood of the game.  It's ominous and creepy and adds a layer of tension to the already somewhat disturbing Giger inspired graphics.  It's somewhat reminiscent of Legendary Axe 2 in that regard.  The only possible complaint you can have towards the soundtrack is about the length and if the worst complaint you have is that you want more of it?  That's not a very big complaint.

Alien Crush remains one of the 3 orange label games I don't have a case for.  I really should break down and buy a set from Sparky to help the OCD collectard in me have a complete row of said orange label games...

I've only beaten Legendary Axe a couple of times.  Normally when I get to the doors section I game over and get weak and then give up.  Nice run through.

While getting over being sick this week I binge watched Cobra Kai.  Hopefully without really spoiling anything, Cobra Kai to Karate Kid is like The Force Awakens to A New Hope.

If you liked Karate Kid?  I think I'd recommend it.

They aren't far off; I think it's definitely worth asking for.  I don't think the other party would have any call to feel ripped off.
#21
Rumor has it yes but nothing official yet.  Rumors also state that it has HDMI.  I don't think I'll buy it myself but it's a neat curiosity.  And yeah, I'd also definitely bet that the controls aren't worth much.

Renny Blaster is one I can't understand at all.  Yes, it looks pretty good but it plays Awful.  Does anyone want it for any reason other than "it's expensive"?

Quote from: NecroPhile on 05/02/2018, 06:19 PMThe Bad:  music tracks are short and loop too often - in the case of the ending credits, the track ends half way through and leaves you in silence

BAAAAAH!  I read this backwards and am now sad!

...good luck with your trade.

Okay, that's a much better list of games than I was expecting.  I'm very happy that there's no Fatal Fury 1 (or other first games that nobody in their right mind wants to play) on there.  Yeah, it's missing a few of my favorites but overall it's a solid list of games.
#25
Not a lot of the cool Neogeo titles I was hoping for in that list...

One of my problems with how SNK has done things since, say, at least the wii shop?  They release things in a weird chronological-ish order.  I have zero interest in buying Fatal Fury.  Yet Fatal Fury is the first game released whenever SNK starts releasing stuff.  I would gladly pay to get Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, sure, but I'm not going to buy most things leading up to it.  Likewise for Samurai Shodown 1.  I'd buy Samurai Shodown 2, 4, and 5 but 1 isn't something I'd ever want to purchase.

Looking at this list it seems SNK is going back even further which is certainly not coming closer to the SNK games that I like the most.

I assume it starts Tuesday?  I'm going to wait until hopefully Alien Crush gets outvoted.

...and then when it doesn't, come Tuesday, I'll spend the evening playing it potentially with someone else who hasn't played the games thus won't be disappointed by the fact that it isn't Devil's Crush

If the people who make a game want to gauge on ebay I think I'm okay with that.
#28
I'm sure that's a fake auction with shill bidding.
#29
I'm pretty sure Karl Marx would want the price on turbo to go down so that the people could afford it and not just the top 1%.
#30
The drawing was cool.  The only bonus I've ever gotten with random purchases has been yu gi oh cards.
#31
imo that's still $7 too much for a loose Kieth Courage.  It's still cheaper than the local place where I saw a stack of them that had been marked up from $5 to $20, though.

Quote from: TheClash603 on 04/25/2018, 08:14 AMVoted for Dungeon Explorer, because I am pretty sure the game sucks and it is overrated by everyone.  Maybe if I play it for the fifth time I'll finally get on board with the hype.
Surprising!  Have you tried playing it with a group of friends?

Honestly, it sounds interesting and I'd like for you to get the chip, make a thread, and document the whole process.  I think soldering that many leads into the motherboard would just be a nightmare, is all.

Quote from: DildoKKKobold on 04/24/2018, 03:51 PMI have a feeling that people who bid ridiculous amounts on these are counting them as "donations" to Goodwill, and then itemizing and writing them down as deductions. Honestly, it's the only reason that makes sense to me, as shopgoodwill stuff routinely goes way over eBay prices.
That actually makes sense.  I've never really pondered the whole "why" part of it but I've definitely noticed the trend of lots of bids on auctions and winding up at higher than ebay prices in the end on goodwill stuff.

Every time I've ever played Alien Crush I've thought to myself "Man, I'd rather be playing Devil's Crush."

I voted Aoi Blink as it's the game I'd most like to play again out of the list.

Though I wish someone who hadn't either lied about authenticity or profited from fan translations without asking (or both of these things) was making them, I'm happy to have gotten some cheap reproductions of otherwise stupidly expensive games.

Yeah, if anyone else was making repros I'd likely be happy to buy the rest of the CD games that I'm missing yet unwilling to purchase at going rates but the ones I got from Bernie et all are quite serviceable.
#38
I feel the exact same way.  I'm a fan of rare consoles and that thing is incredible.
#39
I've read articles about that but I refuse to believe it's really a thing.  With that said, I think I said the same thing about anti-vaxers and flat earthers.  Flat earthers are the dumbest people I've ever heard of.

QuoteFunny.... except for the 'innocent' bit.
My bad.  My head wasn't on straight because of the Dracula X Energy Drinks, you see.
#41
I'm still curious if anyone opened their's.  I'm pretty sure it's an awful concoction, but it'd be hilarious if it was the best energy drink you'd ever consume but then you had to get more.  After nearly bankrupting yourself buying Dracula X special editions, Tobias would run out of energy drinks.  There would be no way to get more legitimately; you'd go mad searching the web but you'd know that never again would you be able to satiate your thirst.  Only one path would remain open to you; you'd hunt down and murder all the collectards who proudly purchased a Tobias set by stalking their facebooks.

Was it worth it?  Of course; even for just one more drop the quest would be worth it.  Every innocent Youtube Collectard you slew would yield 4 more cans.  You'd have a stats sheet where you'd count out how many persons you killed until, at last, the final purchaser of the Dracula X boxed set was found.  Then, lying in a pile of Dracula X energy drinks and bootleg CDs, you'd pass on.  A trail of energy drink dribbling out of the corner of your mouth with a smile on your face.  You drank them all.  You drank them all.

I think the best thing I ever purchased at Toys R Us would be from a clearance table they had in what was probably 2001.  I got 4 copies of Castlevania Bloodlines (the Majesco reprint cardboard not the original in the plastic case) for less than $3 each.  I gave away 3 of them over the years and opened up the last one with  my girlfriend right when I started dating as she was a Sega kid but hadn't ever played any Castlevania games before.

General Gaming / Re: Shenmue 3 kickstarter
04/15/2018, 03:33 PM
I'm desperately hoping that Yu Suzuki has the common sense enough to know that this isn't likely to start off the franchise into the 16 part epic he envisioned over 20 years ago.  The thing that I want most out of Shenmue 3 is closure to the story.  The thing that I want absolutely least would be an ending similar to Shenmue 2 that resolves nothing but sets up for a sequel which I doubt I'll ever receive.

I'm excited about Shenmue HD, certainly.  I'm greatly looking forward to seeing Shenmue in 16x9 with high resolution graphics.  I recall reading that the remaster would have both English and Japanese which also seems really cool.

With all the good stuff said?  I'm honestly worried that releasing Shenmue 1 and 2 would actually hurt sales of Shenmue 3.  Yeah, I love the games but even in their day Shenmue didn't exactly sell super well.  I feel that worst case scenario is that Shenmue 3 has a cliffhanger ending and it doesn't sell due to the mystique behind the games going away when the populace at large gets a chance to actually play a game that they've never played but were still interested by.  Part of the appeal of Shenmue 3 seems to me to be people excited to play something that they missed out on.  There's a small but vocal group that has been clamoring for Shenmue 3 for years and that's likely the best marketing you could ever have.  I really hope this doesn't turn out anything like, say, Mighty #9.

AT made a comment saying it would have better emulation than the previous version.  I didn't play with the one they released a bit ago; could anyone who has explain what the problems were?

Quote from: NightWolve on 04/13/2018, 06:11 PMYou'll wanna at least test it, make sure it's not defective. It's a great product, got it for my TurboExpress. First time playing Batman PCE since I never bought HuCard adapters and imports, just PCECDs.
Though unorthodox and not at all what I was expecting, Batman's a pretty cool game.  My favorite thing about it is the soundtrack.  I loved Streets of Desolation on the old NES version and it sounds way better on  PCE audio hardware.
#47
One of the worst things about liking Turbo stuff is the fact that the expensive stuff is generally stuff that you'd actually want to play.  Anyone who cares about NES world championships, starfox weekend, or stadium events does so only because they're expensive.  I can see a legitimate reason somebody would want to play Sapphire, Magical Chase, Dracula X, Beyond Shadowgate, Lords of Thunder, or a dozen others.

Sapphire isn't my favorite shooter but it's a Damn good game.  The graphics are unbelievable and the soundtrack absolutely rocks.

So, are we writing down submissions yet?

On assumption that we are, I want to nominate Splatterhouse.  I'll say more on the subject once it's got a thread.

Quote from: guest on 04/11/2018, 12:43 PMOh, Madou.  I want cute lil Arle, but why's she gotta be so dang expensive?!?
Likewise.  That's easily the Arcade Card title that I don't have that I want the most.  I don't think I'd make good enough use out of the game though to justify the pricetag.  C'est la vie.
