10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Ya...all of the new ones look pretty rough.

I just googled it and was shocked by the TG16 mug selection available.  Note, I've never bought from here, just saw the link.
Yeah, I'm surprised by that too, had no idea so many were made.

I'm not terribly impressed with the Adol one but that's cool they have some.

Anyway, I'd ask esteban where he purchased his. It never occurred to me to ask and maybe I even wondered if he had it made himself or something.

Oh, congrats on the new job, crazydean, hope it works out!
From what little info I found online, they were from a promo bitd. There are at least three variations that I've seen pictures of.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 11/03/2017, 02:28 AMI've been drawing again lately and checking out the new shit. These Platinum Preppy pens are fucking crazy. So reliable and cheap, maybe the first practical fountain pen ever. I may ditch the red Precise V5 I've been using for fucking eeeeeeeveerrrrrrrr. In order to work so well they have some kind of weak-ass gel ink though so you can't mistake them for archival grade.

PreppyPens.webp

I really fucking hate ballpoint pens, btw. I need a little bit of scratch. When I write with a Bic it looks like I'm drunk high and six years old and I'm only ever max one of those things.
Makes post about drawing. Posts pictures of pens. No artwork. Quality post!

How this clown got to be a celebrity is beyond me...
All it takes it to look/act far from normal to become a celebrity. Remember Honey Boo Boo (sp)?

What is a "coffee drink" ? Why isn't it just called "coffee with milk". That's sketchy...

Ha. I was just about to mention that PCE SD thing to compare it to the LT2. Pretty specific hobby that guy has. While the stuff he builds looks good, it's just so niche. I guess I would rather spend time playing games than building enclosures for them.

Although, the same could be said for all the time I spend on the forums. I have noticed an inverse correlation between time spent on gaming forums and playing games.

The Genny has parallax and the wavy background effects in the lava pit and underwater stages, but the PCE game trounces it in colors, shading, and details.  The Genny is also missing all the girlies you save, and who doesn't want to save tied up girlies?

It's hard to say any game is worth $100+ (or whatever retard price it's up to now), but it's definitely worth a CDR.
So they're already tied up, eh? That makes it easy.

Must have all forms of coffee: paper cup, styrofoam cup, aluminum can, glass bottle.
So wacha gonna be doing in SC?

Quote from: Bloufo on 01/08/2017, 10:05 AMBought an "untested" Model 2 CD unit relatively cheaply a few months ago. It had the base extender piece as well. It wasn't advertised with that. So that was a nice little bonus.

Things came up and I kind of left it be for a bit. Recently though I found a bit of time, and saw that the issue was the common problem with these Model 2's- the fuse. So the unit is back to life now.

Also managed to pick up a 'Megacart', for region swapping.

IMG
Man, what a huge footprint the Genny 1 and CD2 leaves. Congrats on getting it going.

Is that a wireless Genny controller? Is it any good?

Maybe they did invent it, but the nearest one to me is like 800 miles away. Unsurprisingly, I have never been to Big Boy. I imagine that most others on the forum are in the same boat.

Alright, so it's all together and as promised, I have some pictures. I actually did a partial gut, but left the voltage regulator stuff alone. To hold the headphone jack in place, I soldered a very thin washer from a guitar potentiometer onto the plate. The potentiometer's hole was small enough to get the headphone jack through and clamped on. The DIN actually had to be epoxy'd in. The reason I chose to mount everything to the motherboard and not the case is that this is easier to take apart, should I need to in the future.

IMG

The hole had to be cut out by a small amount for the DIN to fit, but you can hardly tell. The headphone jack fits perfectly.
IMG

IMG

If you're wondering about where I mounted the switch, it's on the front, somewhere...
IMG

Here!
IMG

The switch fits quite well, and I'm very happy with the placement. You can easily get the cartridge in and out, and it remains hidden when you close the door.

Ya, that's awesome. I just don't have the balls to go gutting anything. I'd be afraid of cutting something out that's important.

Quote from: esteban on 08/27/2016, 04:05 AMThe day I fell in love with SNES...

 IMG
This is the first time I've heard of this game, so I fired it up on le everdrive. Wow, I thought I was going to vomit. The screen shakes when you move quickly or change directions, and there doesn't seem to be any purpose for being in the level. I still don't know what the goal was. Also, there is a button that makes you explode...which doesn't really do anything.

So I took some pictures of the coyotes while playing today and yesterday. The first one is the non-jumping coyote and regular flower.

IMG

These are the jumping coyote and its flower.

IMG

IMG

As you can see, the jumping coyote flower is more orange whereas the regular coyote flower is pink.

On a side note, these weird diagonal lines show up when taking a picture. I'm not concerned with it since I can't see it with my eyes. I've just never noticed it before.

Quote from: crazydean on 08/03/2016, 08:05 PMWhat's a Chippy?
Chippy = Chip Shop

Chips are called fries in the US.

Here's what typical English chips look like, with battered fish.
IMG

Chip shops sell fish and chips and are everywhere here in England for the past maybe 80 years?
Most popular food here.
In the 80s and 90s they often had arcade machines in them.
I knew that chips=fries and crisps=chips. I didn't know you guys had restaurants dedicated to fish and chips. After a quick google image search, I am a bit jealous because we don't have as much access to such foods. I have had fish and chips in the States, usually at places imitating the "British Pub" or "Irish Pub". It's quite good, but I've never seen the mushy peas. That part doesn't look so good.  [-X

Sorry to hijack the thead. I can't remember any disappointing toys. I'm sure there were several, but they don't stand out in my mind like the good toys because you never play with them. Now video games, I can name a few bad ones that I got.

To Zeta, all kids are dumb and naive. That's part of being human, seeing a TV commercial about some stupid shit and getting all excited. Then, once you get it, you realize it's just garbage. That's where the saying "live and learn" comes from. I remember wanting a Talkboy after seeing Home Alone. My parents didn't buy me one, but I did get to play with a friend's once. I remember it being garbage, and I was glad that my parents didn't get it for me.

1986 Pontiac Fiero. 2.5L 4-cylinder, 5-speed manual. I had to ship a guitar and this was the only way I could get the box to fit.

2006 Kawasaki ZX-14. I ride it to school pretty often since there is motorcycle parking and finding regular car parking can be difficult.

Totally unrelated to the above, but I didn't particularly want to create a new thread for such a minor issue.
This is with regard to the Super CD-ROM².
What do you guys use for that stiff Open/Eject button?
I'm thinking something like bike-chain oil should do the trick. Yes?
I use white lithium grease pretty much universally on the inside of my consoles/controllers. I wouldn't use bike-chain oil. Doesn't that stuff get sticky?

09/10/2015, 03:53 PM
I've been riding for about 13 years now. I worked two jobs, at the time, to be able to afford this one. This was my third time painting so I know how much of a PITA it is to do. It's really easy, just tedious and boring. There's some gold flake in the paint which looks great in the sun, but it's also really difficult to photograph. I don't have any original pictures, but it was black and completely stock when I bought it. These pictures are about two years old, and I have since added nitrous and orange brake/clutch lines.
