Huh... I heard whisperings about that guy essentially asking zero permission from anybody to sell his stuffs. So Pcedev just took all of that stuff down because of it? Bummer...
#2
Wasn't there also a MegaMan homebrew port pcedev made a while back? I remember poking around with it back in the day. Now that I have a Super SD System 3 I've been trying to find it again, but alas, all links to it seem to lead nowhere.
#3
I just got mine in a couple days ago and I'm lovin' it so far! I think it shipped just after they went back and flipped those caps around on the boards. (Though I'm using HD Retrovision Component cables so I'm not sure if that'll matter much in the long-run.)

As far as audio noise, I haven't seen much. Maybe a little bit here and there but I've gotta really be hunting for it. That kind of stuff has never really bothered me, but I suppose it could for other people.

Quote from: guest on 07/24/2017, 06:29 PMTeraflop has been legitimate since the 90s with Intel.
I know it's a legitimate term, but that's not the point. You can douse the masses in flops, chipsets, schematics, and technical jargon all you want... but what does that mean?! that's not necessarily going to convince people that this is a console worth getting excited about, and pre-ordering/buying. They want to see what you're doing with all those terms you've come up with.

Bringing this back to the RetroBlox/Polymega, one buzzword has been thrown around a ton without much meaning behind it: hybrid emulation.

Quote from: guest on 07/24/2017, 03:18 PMDoesn't that apply to Sony and MS too?  They all have existing products that they'd rather you buy now rather than wait for the next thing that you know you want, so you only get leaked specs and educated guesses.
I've seen instances of Sony and MS bringing up vague, possibly made-up terms to describe their tech. "Terra-flops" immediately springs to mind.

This is why I never get excited about anything anymore. I've lived through too many Coleco Chameleons. While we do actually have some people with actual industry experience on board this time around, it's vapor as far as I'm concerned... until it comes out.

I think he might be mine, too. That was just my first Grand Prix with him, and I aced the whole damn thing!

A tad bit late, but I got a sweet Fix It Felix repro a while back. Vid of it in action:

EEEK!!!

and this is coming from someone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Im in dallas next week. Grapevine.
(replying to something really old but wtf...)
Huh... Seems the more time I spend in the retro gaming scene the more I find fellow retro gamers who live in Texas. This makes RetroPalooza all the more tempting...

Ooh... this is really tempting. Not a bad price either. If so we should have some kind of pcenginefx meet up or something!

Finally got a highlight reel I can feel proud of:

But I already enjoyed it on the way there. And it was night... and I was tired. That's what I really didn't like about it.

But no matter, I survived without falling asleep thanks to a Starbucks Doubleshot+energy and the Initial D/Super Eurobeat Pandora station.

The fact that Abilene, TX is so damn far away from any other piece of civilization!

Context:
I'm writing this at a Starbucks I stopped at in Midland on the way back home, (to Abilene) and that's still 3 hours away. 3 hours of nothingness I might add. Ugh... really not looking forward to it.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 06/07/2014, 10:16 PMGame Sack will do the true in-depth look in a few weeks. It will feature A/B audio comparisons between real systems and Retron5. :)
I wonder if your unit will have proper save state re-writing. It seems like these Chinese clones always get one thing wrong. That said, I remember having trouble getting the Game Boy Color's "Mega Memory Card" to properly rewrite saves. It just wiped them out.

For all our sakes I hope that bitch has his honey.

Huh, I'm genuinely surprised the 3DO had that many good games. Maybe I'm just mentally filing it along with the Jaguar in 32-bit systems that sucked.

And hey, it has a version of Street Fighter II, which means I'm cursed to own it myself one day anyhow.

Just watching some theory... some GAME Theory.
#22
Huh... so that's why this update is taking so long. Sounds great, even though I have no clue what I'd use this for.
#23
Hell yeah! Awesome game! Anyone upload any highlight reels to YouTube? I can never get mine quite right.
#24
Just hooked mine back up and added everyone in the thread. If you added me before you might want to add again... apparently these requests expire in 30 days X(

Do you have your mother stored in your address book as "mom"?  Ever notice the T9 numbers you have to dial to bring her up for a phone call?  Yeah... not a coincidence.

I don't believe I can ever unthink that again. It's like the FedEx arrow... damn.

Sorry for your loss, dude. You got some insurance on that at least?

Actually, we could start a whole other thread on "What do you despise about the insurance industry right now" lol.

(Hurricane Katrina was nothing but a wind storm, my ass. Thanks for nothing, Travelers.)

That was my first time seeing that series. Good stuff! The use of shmup didn't bother me that much, but I'll probably notice it like crazy now.
#29
I despise international shipping fees.

I had to return that Neo-Geo:CD console I got a while back (cause it didn't work) and the buyer was fine. He said he'd refund my purchase price and up to $40 shipping, which is great... except that it's gonna cost me $89 at least to send this thing back to Japan!  ](*,)

Against my better judgement, I've been getting back into YouTube Poop lately. Mainly thanks to the return of Mark3611:

Anyone planning on getting Mario Kart 8 this week? It looks hella fun.

I had to disconnect my Wii U for... reasons... but that'll probably be what gets me to hook it back up again, in which case I'll get back around to adding you chumps.

That was very interesting, especially that bit on Aladdin.... huh.

Another great example of same name different game would be Shadowrun on SNES and Genesis. On the SNES it's a point and click RPG. On the Genesis it looks much more like an action RPG. (I haven't played that one myself.)
#33
Well after tinkering with this thing for a week, I'm just going to send it back. I've lubed the laser track, taped down the CD door switch, and much more, but nothing seemed to work.

So, consider this thread back to WTB status!

EDIT: Aaaandd, consider it no longer. I got a pretty good deal on a replacement. Thanks for playing!

Oh yeah, that's in the shot too! I actually got that years and years ago and was testing it in that NG:CD to see if it made any difference. I think "Domino" is my fave from it.

Great episode! I support this Random Episode idea. Heck, with a name like Game Sack, it works. It's like stuff you've randomly pulled from the sack.

I remember playing Blue's Journey way back in the day at an arcade that had a whole wall of Neo Geo units. I don't think I spent much time before hopping back over for some more Bust-A-Move Again though. Anyone know if they ever released it on Neo Geo CD?

Good news: Got my Neo Geo CD way faster than I expected!   :D
Bad news: It doesn't work.
The disk won't read or spin... at least not very much. (See this video: http://instagram.com/p/oGohb-HAGv/)
If anyone has any suggestions, throw 'em at me.
Here's everything else I got:
Neo Geo CDs
King of Fighters '94
King of Fighters '95
The Way of the Blade (That's the Japansese "Last Blade" right?)
Garou Densetsu 3
Shin Samurai Spirits
Famicom
Pinball
Macross
Itadaki Street
#37
Not sure if that's the problem. I opened it up before and actually held down the lid switch on the board itself and it does the same thing as seen in that video. I'll probably try to go to the store in a bit and get a small screw to fit into that peg to make it longer.

I'm also noticing now that the black spindle in the middle is spinning fast, but the disk isn't going with it the whole way. When the door is actually closed, I'll hear small disk drive-y noises, but the disk is always in the same position it was before.
#38
Well... I just got one actually. However, it isn't working right now. (Disk won't spin/read) So I may just come to you if I can't fix this myself.

Don't get your hopes up though. I only have 6 TG-16 games right now, and they're all pretty common ones (Bonk's Adventure, Blazing Lazers, Keith Courage, etc.) PC Engine games, on the other hand...  8)

EDIT: If anyone has any help or suggestions for my NGCD predicament, here's a vid that shows what it's doing right now. http://instagram.com/p/oGohb-HAGv/

Quote from: guest on 05/06/2014, 09:38 PMMetal Slug 3 IS on XBLA. :)

Do the other SNK Xbox games work on a 360 too?
I know SNK vs. Capcom doesn't work on 360, which sucks because that's really the one game I really want from its library. (and they wonder why few people have used the 360's backwards compatibility, amirite?)
#41
Nice stash! Fire Pro Wrestling 3 was one of the first games I got for my PC Engine. Let me know if you figure out how to play it. I sure can't. :P

I for one do not understand all the doom-mongering on the Wii U. I got one at launch and have had a hell of a fun time with it. Not to mention, with Wii mode you can obey off-TV on the GamePad!

Anyway, got me some imports today.

Speaking of Bonk, after being a TG16/PCE gamer for a year, I finally got it!

I also got Gaiares for the Mega Drive, as seen on top of the TV. Cool thing is it's one of those carts that will play in English if you put it in a US console. (Thank you Game Genie.)

Since we're moving in the direction of tapes & floppies, some of my earliest gaming memories were with my dad's C64. I think he had the tape attachment, but I don't remember using it. We always used the floppy drive. He did some programming of his own for it, mostly shapes and colors learning games for my sister and I, but he also made the equivalent of multicarts for the thing, putting about 4 games per side of the disk. I think he also found ways to speed up the loading time on them too.
#49
I never really minded load times on CD games. I do have my limits, mind you, but it's never been a huge issue.

What I really hate is excessive CD switching. My dad and I used to play Tiger Woods PGA Tour on the Gamecube, and some of the later versions came on two disks. The game could be booted from either one, fortunately, so we'd usually just start the console on the one that was in there the night before. But without fail, whatever course we wanted to play was on the OTHER disk! X(
